Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital tolerance module as a supplement to elementary-level BIPA learning in order to improve intercultural communication skills. The research used the Research and Development (R&D) method adapted from Borg and Gall, which includes 1) potential and problems, 2) data collection, 3) product design, 4) product validation, 5) product revision, 6) testing, and 7) final revision. The research subjects were a small heterogeneous class of UNESA Basic Level BIPA learners from various countries. Data collection techniques were obtained through interviews, document studies, and validation questionnaires regarding materials and media. The research instruments included interview guidelines, document studies, and expert validation questionnaires on materials and media. The research data analysis used qualitative and quantitative methods (mixed methods). The results showed that the development of this digital module produced a supplementary product that integrated tolerance values into Basic BIPA language materials through interactive multimedia features. The development procedure successfully transformed learners’ needs for sociocultural material into a product design that was validated by experts. Based on the validation test results, the digital tolerance module scored 85% in the “Highly Valid” category in terms of material and media. These findings indicate that the digital tolerance module is suitable for use as a supplement to Basic BIPA learning to support the strengthening of intercultural communication competencies.

Abstract

E-sport telah menjadi perhatian utama karena aktivitasnya meningkat pesat di kalangan remaja. Namun, kehadirannya dalam sistem pendidikan, terutama dalam PJOK, masih diperdebatkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana guru PJOK memaknai e-sport dalam konteks pembelajaran. Secara khusus, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pengetahuan guru tentang e-sport, persepsi mereka terkait e-sport sebagai olahraga, nilai edukatif yang mungkin terkandung di dalamnya, potensi risiko, serta strategi implementasi yang relevan di lingkungan sekolah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode wawancara mendalam terhadap sampel guru PJOK SMA Negeri di Mojokerto. Instrumen penelitian berupa pedoman wawancara semi-terstruktur, sementara analisis data dilakukan menggunakan metode analisis tematik Braun dan Clarke. Analisis data hasil wawancara dalam penelitian ini di analisis menggunakan program atlas.ti. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi lima tema utama: tingkat literasi guru tentang e-sport, perdebatan tentang legitimasi e-sport sebagai olahraga, peluang pengembangan karakter melalui e-sport, kekhawatiran terhadap kecanduan dan minimnya aktivitas fisik, serta alternatif strategi integrasi e-sport dalam pembelajaran maupun ekstrakurikuler. Kesimpulan menunjukkan bahwa guru pada umumnya melihat e-sport memiliki potensi edukatif, tetapi tidak layak dijadikan bagian inti kurikulum PJOK. Sebaliknya, e-sport lebih tepat difasilitasi sebagai kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dengan pengawasan yang kuat. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi bagi pengembangan kebijakan kurikulum dan pelatihan guru dalam menghadapi transformasi digital di sekolah

Abstract

Small talk in greetings is an integral part of polite communication in Indonesian society, rooted in cultural and social values. This study aims to identify and analyze forms of small talk in Indonesian greetings through Geoffrey Leech’s politeness principles. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a pragmatic discourse analysis method. The data source consists of utterances found in Indonesian-language vlog videos produced by the researchers and uploaded to the Plurikultural Indonesia YouTube channel. Data were collected using observation, participation, and note-taking techniques, and analyzed based on Leech’s politeness maxims: tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, and sympathy. The findings reveal that small talk expressions in greetings reflect pragmatic strategies to maintain harmony and communication ethics. Each maxim emerges in varied contexts depending on the situation and relationship between speakers. These findings highlight the significance of politeness in daily interaction and have implications for the development of contextual BIPA teaching materials and intercultural education rooted in local values.

Abstract

Media BIPA yang menggabungkan budaya dan pembelajaran bahasa masih sangat kurang, sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran e-comic berbasis plurikultural berbantuan AI untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara pemelajar BIPA level dasar yang valid. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengembangan (R&D) model Borg & Gall yang diadaptasi menjadi 7 langkah. Subjek penelitian ini adalah pemelajar BIPA level 1 Universitas Negeri Surabaya berjumlah empat dari tiga negara berbeda. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah, wawancara, studi dokumen, dan angket validitas. Adapun instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yakni, pedoman wawancara, dan angket validitas. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik kualitatif dan teknik kuantitatif. Hasilnya penelitian ini berhasil mengembangkan produk e-comic berbasis plurikultural berbantuan AI deangan menyelesaikan 7 langkah proses pengembangan yakni, (1) Potensi dan Masalah; (2) Pengumpulan Data; (3) Desain Produk; (4) Validasi Desain; (5) Revisi Desain; (6) Uji Coba Produk; (7) Revisi. Adapun kevalidan media dinyatakan sangat layak atau valid sesuai kategori penilaian karena memperoleh nilai kevalidan sebesar 98,8%. Dengan demikian penelitian ini berhasil mengembangkan media e-comic berbasis plurikultural berbantuan AI untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara pemelajar BIPA level dasar yang sangat valid.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kebutuhan media pemelajaran inovatif yang dapat membantu pemelajar Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) level dasar dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan media Treasure map berbasis plurilingual yang memadukan unsur visual, budaya, dan permainan untuk memfasilitasi proses pemelajaran menulis secara kontekstual dan menyenangkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model Borg and Gall yang dimodifikasi menjadi tujuh langkah, yaitu potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, desain produk, validasi desain, revisi desain, uji coba produk, dan revisi akhir. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Universitas Negeri Surabaya dengan subjek 9 pemelajar BIPA level dasar (A1) dari berbagai negara. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, angket validasi, observasi, dan tes tulis dengan instrumen berupa lembar validasi, angket respons, dan tes menulis. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media Treasure map berbasis plurilingual memperoleh nilai kevalidan 84% dari ahli bahasa dan 90% dari ahli media (kategori sangat valid), keefektifan sebesar 84,5% (kategori efektif), dan kepraktisan 91% (kategori sangat praktis). Dengan demikian, media ini layak digunakan sebagai alternatif pemelajaran menulis bagi pemelajar BIPA level dasar karena mampu meningkatkan motivasi, partisipasi, serta kemampuan menulis kalimat dan paragraf sederhana. Penelitian ini menyarankan pengembangan lanjutan berbasis digital agar media lebih interaktif dan mudah diakses.

Abstract

Permasalahan limbah plastik di pesantren belum dikelola secara produktif sehingga menimbulkan pencemaran sekaligus hilangnya potensi ekonomi kreatif. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan memberdayakan santri melalui pelatihan ecopreneurship wayang berbasis limbah plastik. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan teknis, pendampingan kreatif, serta pemasaran digital yang melibatkan 50 santri Pondok Pesantren Tebuireng dan mahasiswa Universitas Hasyim Asy’ari. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre–post test pengetahuan, observasi keterampilan, wawancara, dan dokumentasi produk. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan skor pengetahuan peserta dari 46,2 menjadi 78,5 (+70%), keterampilan teknis menghasilkan 15 wayang plastik, dan 80% peserta menyatakan siap memproduksi secara mandiri. Uji coba pemasaran melalui media sosial memperoleh respons positif dari komunitas seni dan masyarakat sekitar. Program ini berkontribusi pada pengurangan limbah plastik sekaligus membuka peluang wirausaha kreatif berbasis budaya. Dengan demikian, ecopreneurship wayang limbah plastik dapat dijadikan model pemberdayaan santri yang selaras dengan SDGs.

Abstract

Pelatihan pemahaman lintas budaya menjadi langkah strategis dalam meningkatkan kualitas layanan pariwisata yang inklusif dan ramah budaya. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman anggota Pokdarwis di Kota Mataram mengenai budaya Jerman, guna menghadapi tantangan interaksi antarbudaya dalam konteks pariwisata internasional. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan partisipatif selama dua hari yang mencakup sesi pengenalan budaya, simulasi layanan wisata, dan diskusi reflektif. Kegiatan ini melibatkan lima Pokdarwis dengan total sepuluh peserta. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta terhadap nilai-nilai budaya, etiket wisata, dan strategi komunikasi lintas budaya. Pelatihan juga memunculkan inisiatif peserta dalam mengembangkan narasi wisata berbasis potensi lokal yang sesuai dengan karakteristik wisatawan Jerman. Program ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap kesiapan Pokdarwis dalam menyambut wisatawan mancanegara dan memperkuat citra pariwisata Kota Mataram sebagai destinasi berkelas internasional.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of digital technology integration in Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) textbooks published by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) using the SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition) framework. A qualitative descriptive method was applied to seven levels of BIPA textbooks (Teaching materials 1 to teaching materials 7). Data were collected through document analysis of all units in each textbook, and analyzed by identifying and classifying technology-related activities into the four SAMR levels. Results indicate that the majority of BIPA textbooks remain at the Substitution level, with audio replacing conventional dialogue texts as the dominant pattern. Some books reach the Augmentation level through internet-based supplementary references, and the Modification level through access to electronic media and online applications. Only teaching materials 6 and teaching materials 7 achieved the Redefinition level, through the use of the MYOB accounting application and video recording tasks for digital platforms. This study concludes that technology integration in Kemendikbud's BIPA textbooks remains predominantly substitutive and needs to be elevated to a transformative level to support more authentic language competencies relevant to the digital era.

Abstract

Indonesian Language Learning for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) requires a contextual and intercultural approach that connects learners to the sociocultural realities of Indonesian society. However, current BIPA curricula and teaching materials remain largely dominated by a general thematic approach that does not systematically represent local cultural values. This research aims to identify the cultural practices of local communication in Malang that have pedagogical relevance and design a conceptual model of BIPA level 1 teaching modules based on pluricultural competence. The method used is a qualitative interpretive approach with an exploratory conceptual design. Data collection was carried out through literature studies, semi-structured interviews with teachers and cultural figures, participatory observation of communication practices in public spaces, and analysis of BIPA teaching materials and curriculum documents. The results of the study show that elements of communication culture, such as boso walikan, local politeness, and social interaction patterns of the Malang community, contain the values of egalitarianism, community solidarity, and local humor that support the formation of intercultural awareness, the ability to mediate meaning, and the reflection of learners' cultural identity. These findings were then formulated into a conceptual model that integrates elements of local culture into BIPA's learning strategies. In conclusion, integrating Malang's local communication culture can enhance the pluricultural competence of foreign learners and enrich language learning designs that are dialogical, reflective, and contextually based.

Abstract

Background/purpose. In science learning, critical thinking skills are essential indicators for delivering deep learning. In doing so, teaching alone is not enough to make students acquire the skills. Therefore, teachers need media such as e-comics for use in their classrooms. In this study, we examine the use of ChatGPT 4.0 as a tool for automatically generating visual representations from prompts to bring out the essence of critical thinking skills. Materials/methods. This study used Design and Development Research (DDR), including needs analysis, design, and development, and expert validation. The instruments were a questionnaire and a validation rubric. The data were analyzed descriptively, considering the number of questionnaire items selected. A validation rubric is used to gain expert judgment over the quality of the e-comic developed using ChatGPT. Results. The findings indicate that “Cells” (67%) and “Pollution” (65%) were perceived as the most difficult topics. The developed e-comic was rated highly valid in terms of content, while minor improvements were suggested for media aspects such as engagement and visual consistency. The study also resulted in an AI-Prompted Comic Design Framework consisting of five stages, namely, need analysis, narrative design, prompt engineering, AI-based visual generation, and expert validation. Conclusion. The study demonstrates that ChatGPT can be effectively used to develop structured, visually consistent e-comics for science learning. The proposed framework provides practical guidance for integrating AI into instructional media design to support students’ critical thinking. However, the effectiveness of the e-comic in improving learning outcomes requires further investigation in future studies.
