Abstract

The critical thinking skills of education students need further enhancement. Critical thinking can be fostered through physics instruction using the case method, which links physics concepts to real-life situations. This approach is expected to improve students' critical thinking skills. Furthermore, in line with the needs of today's learners, integrating technology is essential. Lumio by SMART offers a dynamic platform to engage students, making learning more interactive and participatory. This descriptive study aimed to analyze students' critical thinking skills and their responses to the use of Lumio by SMART. The analysis was based on critical thinking skills scores and student feedback. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students' critical thinking skills, as evidenced by the increase in post-test scores compared to pretest scores. Additionally, student responses were overwhelmingly positive. These findings suggest that the use of the case method, enhanced by Lumio by SMART, is effective in improving critical thinking skills. Thus, educators should incorporate the case method in their teaching to develop critical thinking and other cognitive skills, while leveraging technology to boost student engagement.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the validity of the Physics Event Photo Analysis (AFKF) module based on the STEM approach and improve students' critical thinking skillsat SMA Negeri 1 Rogojampi. The researchers implemented the ADDIE development model to achieve these goals, which consisted of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The data collecting techniques used in this research were interviews, product validation, and tests. The validation results indicated that the product was feasible to use with a validity percentage of 93%. The percentages can be categorized as very valid and can be used without revision. Furthermore, the percentage of the product's effectiveness in improving students' critical thinking abilitywas 66.58% which was included in the medium category. The PhysBased on the STEM approach, the Event Photo Analysis Module (AFKF) based ed positive responses from students with a percentage of 76%.TThis development research concluded that the STEM approach-based Physics Event Photo Analysis (AFKF) module is very valid and effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of science education can facilitate two key objectives: firstly, it can assist teachers in the creation of innovative teaching materials, and secondly, it can enhance the learning experience, making it more engaging and effective. A challenge arises when science teachers, MGMP IPA SMP Northern Region members of Jember, lack the requisite skills to utilize technology effectively. As a solution, teachers are provided with training in the development of AI-based media. The service activities were conducted using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, with the methods employed comprising lectures, discussions, questions and answers, and practical sessions accompanied by the presentation of results. The results of the service activities demonstrated that the participants exhibited a comprehensive understanding of the advantages of AI technology, demonstrated proficiency in utilizing a range of AI-based media, and exhibited the capacity to independently develop AI-based media. Consequently, it can be concluded that through this service activity, it is possible to facilitate changes in teachers' skills, particularly in their ability to utilize technology, with a particular focus on AI-based technologies.

Abstract

Gelombang elektromagnetik dengan frekuensi di bawah 300 Hz dikenal sebagai Medan Magnet ELF (Extremely Low Frequency). Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis dampak Medan Magnet ELF pada ketahanan tape ketan. Metode penelitian menggunakan eksperimen dengan desain RAL (Rancang Acak Lengkap), membagi kelompok eksperimen yang terpapar magnet intensitas 1.000μT selama 45 menit. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa tape ketan pada kelompok eksperimen memiliki pH rata-rata 3,65, massa jenis rata-rata 1,231, dan kondisi fisik normal, sedangkan kelompok kontrol dengan pH rata-rata 3,09, massa jenis rata-rata 1,271, dan kondisi fisik hampir tidak layak dikonsumsi. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah adanya pengaruh radiasi Medan Magnet ELF pada proses ketahanan tape ketan. Kata kunci: Gelombang elektromagnetik; medan magnet; tape ketan.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the sub-surface structure of the potential iron sand area and the distribution of iron sand depth in terms of its specific resistivity in Pandanwangi Village, Kunir District, Lumajang Regency. This research uses the Wenner configuration resistivity geoelectric method to identify subsurface structures. Measurements were made using 4 lines that have a length of 200 meters per line and then processed using Res2Dinv software to see the results of the 2D cross-section and using Voxler software to see the results of the 3D cross-section. Based on the results of the study, there are several types of rocks and constituent minerals that are below the ground surface, including iron sand, sand, sandstone, and basalt which are found at certain depths. Line 1 tends to contain sand, and line 2 is often passed by residents' vehicles so that it has a different density than other lines because, on line 3, activities are often carried out by local residents. Line 3 has the least iron sand potential compared to other lines, and line 4 has the greatest iron sand potential than other lines. The potential of iron sand is assessed based on its lower resistivity value compared to other rocks and minerals, which is around 0.13-37.11 Ωm.

Abstract

Alat penyemprot pestisida merupakan salah satu dari penerapan atau aplikasi dari “Hukum Bernoulli, Hukum Pascal dan Hukum Archimedes”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui konsep fluida pada alat penyemprot pestisida dengan menggunakan metode penelitian literasi review artikel. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam artikel yang berasal dari jurnal-jurnal internasional maupun nasional. Dengan rentang tahun mulai dari 2020 sampai dengan tahun 2024 dengan jumlah artikel 20 sampai dengan 30, baik itu jurnal nasional maupun jurnal internasional. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa alat penyemprot pestisida menerapkan hukum Bernoulli Hukum Pasca dan juga Hukum Archimedes, sebagai penggunaan pestisida dalam pertanian meski efektif juga seringkali menimbulkan dampak negatif seperti pencemaran dan resistensi hama. Pada pompa untuk penyemprotan pestisida ini juga bisa diartikan dalam prinsip fluidanya yaitu memindahkan zat cair dari tempat yang bertekanan rendah ke permukaan yang tinggi melalui suatu medium dengan menyuplai energi pada zat cair yang bergerak tersebut dan mengubah energi mekanik menjadi energi kinetik.

Abstract

Kemampuan retensi tanah dapat ditingkatkan dengan membenahi stuktur tanah melalui penambahan biochar pada tanah. Hubungan pemberian biochar dengan meningkatnya retensi tanah dapat dilihat dari peningkatan penyerapan air dan pH. Ukuran pori-pori pada biochar dapat menambah ukuran pori-pori tanah yang dapat memaksimalkan penyerapan air, sehingga semakin besar pori-pori biochar maka semakin tinggi tingkat retensi tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan ukuran permukaan pori-pori dan pH pada bahan baku biochar terhadap kemampuan menjaga retensi tanah sehingga dapat membantu mengembalikan kemampuan retensi tanah agar tanah tetap subur. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen untuk mengukur penyerapan air dengan memberi air melalui alat infus ke pot berlubang yang sudah berisi campuran biochar dan tanah, lalu mengukur pH dengan menggunkana pH for soil. Untuk mengetahui bahan baku biochar yang tepat dengan permasalahan pada tanah, maka penelitian ini menggunakan 3 biochar dengan bahan baku yang berbeda yaitu tongkol jagung, batang pepaya , tempurung kelapa. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah campuran tanah dengan biochar tempurung kelapa yang paling banyak menyerap air, dan campuran tanah dengan biochar tongkol jagung yang memiliki pH tertinggi. Soil retention ability can be improved by improving soil structure through the addition of biochar to the soil. The relationship between biochar and increased soil retention can be seen from the increase in water absorption and pH. The size of the pores in biochar can increase the size of the soil pores which can maximize water absorption, so that the larger the biochar pores, the higher the soil retention rate. This study aims to determine the effect of differences in pore surface size and pH on biochar raw materials on the ability to maintain soil retention so that it can help restore soil retention ability so that the soil remains fertile. The method used in this research is an experimental method to measure water absorption by giving water through an infusion device into a perforated pot that already contains a mixture of biochar and soil, then measuring the pH using pH for soil. To find out the right biochar raw material with problems in the soil, this study used 3 biochar with different raw materials, namely corn cobs, papaya stalks, and coconut shells. The results of this study were the soil mixture with coconut shell biochar which absorbed the most water and the soil mixture with corncob biochar which had the highest pH.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai pemisahan anomali regional dan residual pada metode gravitasi studi kasus Gunung Semeru Jawa Timur dengan menggunakan data citra satelit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi struktur bawah permukaan yang ada di sekitar lokasi. Pemisahan anomali Bouguer lengkap menjadi anomali regional dan residual menggunakan metode polinomial orde dua. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data diperoleh hasil anomali residual denga nilai rendah yang diperkirakan sebagai kantung magma dari kawah Jonggring Seloko yang berada di sebelah tenggara Gunung Semeru dan anomali tinggi diperkirakan sebagai batuan beku atau material erupsi dari Gunung Semeru yang berada di sebelah timur dengan arah menuju barat laut, sebelah tenggara dengan arah menuju timur, dan di sebelah utara.

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills are abilities that students must have in facing the challenges of the industrial revolution era 4.0 because higher-order thinking skills are complex thinking processes that involve conscious activities that will later be taken an action. The purpose of this study was to analyze higher-order thinking skills of 11th grades in  senior high school in Jember. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques for temperature and heat test result based on higher-order thinking skills and interviews. The result of this study, students have the ability to analyze 48.5%, evaluate 41%, and creation 39.5%. The conclusion of the research is students are in the moderate category in analyze and evaluate aspect, low category in the create aspect, it means students able to formulate the completion stage but are less able to combine information to produce the correct answer.
