Abstract

This study explores mathematics teachers’ perceptions regarding the integration of Javanese ethnomathematical approaches into geometry instruction at the junior high school level. The research involved mathematics teachers from 12 junior high schools across three provinces in Indonesia: DI Yogyakarta, Central Java, and East Java. Data were gathered through a structured survey instrument designed to assess opinions on the ethnomathematics-based model, supplemented by Focus Group Discussions to capture user evaluations. Descriptive analysis was employed to examine the collected data. The findings indicate that teachers hold a positive perception toward the use of ethnomathematics in geometry learning. This perception is reflected in several aspects, including awareness, prior exposure, evaluation of instructional design and implementation, practical use in teaching, and student assessment. The integration of Javanese ethnomathematics is deemed reasonably acceptable, particularly in terms of its introduction, content, evaluation mechanisms, and closing components. These findings offer practical insights for culturally responsive mathematics education that embraces local wisdom in classroom practice.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the condition of teacher learning communities, teacher collaboration, interpersonal communication, and teaching quality, and (2) analyze the influence of these three variables on teaching quality among junior high school teachers in Ngombol District. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, with simple linear regression used to examine the effect of each independent variable (X₁, X₂, X₃) on the dependent variable (Y), and multiple linear regression applied to test the simultaneous effects. The findings reveal that: (1) all variables were categorized as very high; (2) teacher learning communities had a positive and significant effect on teaching quality (t = 5.396; p < 0.001); (3) teacher collaboration had a positive and significant effect on teaching quality (t = 4.907; p < 0.001); (4) interpersonal communication had a positive and significant effect on teaching quality (t = 4.806; p < 0.001); and (5) the three independent variables collectively exerted a positive and significant influence on teaching quality (F = 21.334; p < 0.001). These results highlight that strengthening teacher learning communities, collaboration, and interpersonal communication enhances teachers’ personal, professional, pedagogical, and social competencies, enriches creative and innovative teaching methods, and fosters stronger collegial relationships, thereby contributing positively to students’ academic achievement and character development.

Abstract

The research aims to develop an inquiry learning model based on Javanese cultural ethnomathematics. This research uses research and development methods with the Plomp educational development model. Research stages include:1) preliminary research, 2) development or prototyping phase, and 3) assessment phase. In this research, the development stage was carried out at the initial investigation stage and the design stage which included field observations, literature studies, focus group discussion, preparation of learning models and learning tools and continued with small-scale trials. Field observations were carried out through observing cultural sites and junior high schools at three provinces in Indonesia, Yogyakarta province, West Java province, and East Java province. Data collection techniques in this research are interviews, observation and questionnaires. The data obtained was analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The development results at the initial investigation stage generated a preliminary syntax for the inquiry learning model. The subsequent design stage produced a complete mathematics learning model based on Javanese cultural ethnomathematics, documented in a comprehensive book accompanied by learning tools. Trial results indicated that the developed inquiry learning model meets valid criteria and is suitable for classroom implementation. The significance of this research lies in its contribution to integrating local cultural knowledge into mathematics instruction through an inquiry-based pedagogical approach. By embedding Javanese ethnomathematical concepts into structured inquiry learning, this study provides an innovative model that supports contextualized learning and aligns with national curriculum demands for culturally relevant pedagogy. Furthermore, the model offers a practical framework for teachers to develop meaningful learning experiences that bridge formal mathematics with students’ cultural environments.

Abstract

School bullying significantly undermines children's psychological well-being, academic achievement, and school safety in Indonesian primary education. Although proactive school counseling and collaborative leadership are recognized individually in bullying prevention research, their integrated structural relationships remain understudied. This study uniquely examines how these constructs jointly relate to anti-bullying policy effectiveness, addressing Indonesia's Permendikbudristek Number 46 of 2023. Purpose of this study is to examine the associations between proactive counseling management, collaborative school leadership, and anti-bullying policy effectiveness, with school climate as a mediating pathway. Method: Quantitative explanatory survey employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS). Sample and Data Collection: 100 respondents (elementary teachers, school counselors, school principals) from elementary schools in Magelang Regency, obtained through purposive sampling. Data collected via standardized Likert-scale questionnaires. Results: Proactive counseling management (comprising systematic counseling services, prevention-based counseling, and teacher-counselor engagement; all loadings >0.79) was associated with anti-bullying policy effectiveness (direct effect = 0.369, p < 0.001). Collaborative school leadership (joint decision-making, counselor support, open communication; loadings ≥0.806) showed stronger associations (direct effect = 0.590, p < 0.001). Both constructs jointly related to policy effectiveness through direct pathways and school climate mediation, explaining 72% of variance (R² = 0.72). Implications: School leaders should establish formalized collaborative decision-making forums and transparent communication systems. School counselors should document services systematically and demonstrate evidence-based program impacts. System administrators should develop integrated professional development combining leadership and counseling competencies, with accountability measures recognizing both contributions.
