Abstract

Nurses with an altruistic attitude should prioritize the patients' interests over their own and strive to care for the welfare of others. This significantly affects the level of workplace violence among nurses, where violence in the workplace is a prevalent issue in the nurses' work environment. This research aims to analyze the relationship between nurses' altruism and the level of workplace violence among nurses in hospitals in the agro-industrial area of Jember district. This study employs a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, resulting in a sample of 178 nurses. Data collection involved an altruism scale questionnaire and a workplace violence questionnaire. The research utilizes the Kendall Tau-C test. The research results revealed that 84.8% of respondents exhibited a high level of altruism, and 64.6% of respondents displayed a low level of workplace violence. Both variables show a p-value of 0.008 (p-value < 0.05), indicating a relationship between nurses' altruism and the level of workplace violence. This study shows a negative correlation value of r = -0.159, indicating a weak correlation. The lower the nurses' altruism attitude, the higher the level of workplace violence among them. The nurses' altruism attitude significantly influences patient assessment; the better the patient assessment provided by nurses, the lower the occurrence of conflicts.

Abstract

Farmers often experience psychosocial problems caused by stress due to crop failures and a low economy. Psychosocial issues can also occur due to constraints experienced by farmers, such as weather changes, large imports of materials, and decreased prices for food grown due to abundant crop yields. This study aims to discover the psychosocial problems in farmers caused by stress due to crop failure and a low economy. This study uses the literature review method. The search was carried out based on three databases: Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Some of the psychosocial problems that can occur in farmers include anxiety, fatigue, loss of interest in usual activities, difficulty sleeping, and changes in body weight. Farmers can also feel lonely and isolated because they tend to do their work on the farm. In addition, farmers can also experience stress due to social pressure from the surrounding community, which requires them to be successful in farming. This can affect the mental health of farmers and exacerbate pre-existing psychosocial conditions. Farmers who work in agriculture have many economic and psychosocial risks. Among other things, farmers can be at risk of experiencing crop failure, which can cause various things. Therefore, farmers need to know how to deal with crop failure, how to prevent it, and how to cope with stress during crop failure as a first step to dealing with the risk of psychosocial disturbances in farmers due to crop failure.

Abstract

Child stunting is a global health problem, and the national prevalence of stunting is high. Stunting indicates failure of child development due to chronic malnutrition. Other causes of stunting can also be influenced by food security, parenting, environmental sanitation, or access to health services. In agricultural areas, one of the efforts that the community can make to reduce stunting rates is to maintain food security to prevent stunting in children. This study aims to determine that food security can reduce the prevalence of stunting in agricultural areas. The literature search used Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases. The inclusion and exclusion criteria of the articles included national and international articles using Indonesian and English from 2020-2024. It was found that local food security is effective in preventing stunting in agricultural areas, and some factors affect food security, namely economic factors or individual income. The presence of household food security affects the incidence of stunting. Stunting increases when there is no food security, which coincides with the pre-harvest season. Low food security (food variety and quantity) can negatively impact the risk of stunting. As health workers, nurses must undoubtedly play a role in reducing stunting rates, one of which is by providing education or becoming educators for the community about the importance of food security in reducing the incidence of stunting.

Abstract

The prevalence of falls among patients in hospitals around the world is still relatively high. Technology is needed to detect the incidence of patients falling in hospitals. The aim of this study is to analyze technology to detect patient fall in hospital settings. A systematic literature review was chosen as the research design. The databases used to search for literature include Google Scholar, Science Direct, PubMed, and Springer using keywords combined with Boolean operators. The selection of articles is based on several criteria including the publication year 2017-2021, full-text articles, the research setting in a hospital, articles in English, and articles that used research design qualitative, quantitative, and mix-method. The Articles found according to the criteria were 13 articles. The findings showed that there are two types of technology found in this review which are wearable devices and ambient sensor devices. Most of the technical procedure is by connecting the technologies with a wireless network and uploading the data to the server and only a few technologies measure directly. This review also found the advantages and disadvantages of these two types of technology. The health service provider can choose technology by considering the results of the analysis that has been carried out by considering the type of technologies, working procedures, advantages, and disadvantages of the technology so the health service provider can choose the appropriate technology in the hospital.

Abstract

Being a farmer who works directly in the environment certainly has many risks at work, one of which is the occurrence of unwanted events that can threaten the health of farmers. Some problems are classified as emergencies and must be handled immediately to avoid fatalities. One example is the occurrence of snake bite emergencies in farmers. This study aims to determine some emergencies in agricultural areas and how to provide first aid. The method used in this study was a literature review of articles from article search engines such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Science Direct analyzed using the PRISMA technique by including articles published in the last five years. The results found that emergencies that often occur in agricultural areas include venomous snake bites, pesticide poisoning, contracting dengue fever from mosquitoes, and rat bites that cause rat-bite fever. First aid methods that can be performed on someone whom a snake has bitten are by calming the victim, immobilizing the victim's entire body by laying him in the recovery position and immobilizing the affected body part using either a sling, splint, or pressure bandage immobilization (PBI) method. Nurses have a role in educating and counseling farmers on how to first aid someone who experiences snake bites, rat bites that cause rat bite fever, and drowning in fishermen.

Abstract

The spread of leptospirosis worldwide shows a high incidence rate. The disease is transmitted through the urine of animals infected with leptospira bacteria. Factors that can affect the incidence of leptospirosis are gender, age, uncovered food storage, the presence of rats, the presence of pets and contact with standing water. The writing method used is literature review. The literature search used Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases with the period 2019-2023. The results of a review of 10 national and international journal articles show that leptospirosis has considerable potential for farmers because the spread occurs directly through blood or urine containing germs into the human body, and indirect transmission can occur through stagnant water, rivers, lakes, drains, and mud contaminated by animal urine. The harmful effects of spreading leptospirosis in an agricultural environment can lead to infection in humans and livestock. Early symptoms in humans include fever, headache, and nausea. If not treated promptly, the disease can progress to a more serious and potentially life-threatening condition. Therefore, the role of nurses in monitoring the health of farm animals and educating farmers on preventive measures is crucial in maintaining animal health and keeping the agricultural sector sustainable.
