Abstract

Introduction: Health literacy is an important component to ensure healthy behavior which is a determinant to a person’s health and life quality. Health literacy contributes to improving a person's health to make healthy lifestyle choices, prevent disease, seek information about appropriate treatment, and determine the best remedies to treat a disease. Objective: This study was aimed to determine the differences in the level of adult patients’ health literacy in rural and urban health centers in Pandalungan region in Jember regency, East Java, Indonesia. Methods: The study was designed as comparative descriptive research. Purposive sampling was conducted on 216 adults who visited two public health centers (henceforth PHCs) in rural and urban areas which were determined based on the highest visitors of 2019 in each rural and urban region. Data was collected using HLS-EU-16Q. The data analysis were descriptive analysis, Mann Whitney U Test, and chi-square test. The level of statistical significance was set at p<0.05. Results: The study found a significant difference in the level of health literacy among adults who visited urban and rural PHCs (p<0.001). The level of health literacy in respondents who visited PHCs urban areas (132.29) was higher than those who visited PHCs rural areas (84.71). The three sub domains of health literacy showed a significant difference between rural and urban areas (p<0.001). The location of PHCs, age, education level, and occupation were the factors associated with health literacy level. Conclusion: Our findings highlight the impact of geographical areas as a driving variable to the level of adults’ personal health literacy. The role of the rural-urban areas affects the individual skills and abilities as the precursor to health literacy. Thus, reducing health literacy barriers is an essential element for promoting health equity, which further can reduce health disparities and promotes the human rights principles of nondiscrimination and equality.

Abstract

Background: The sound generated by a tractor engine is one of the causes of ear disorders. This is usually experienced by people who live in agro-industrial areas, especially those who work as farm laborers, especially when planting and harvesting. Most people spend their free time in the fields, so they indirectly listen to the sound produced by the tool. Purpose: The literature review study aims to discover the increase of noise hazards on incidents of occupational diseases in agro-industrial areas. Methods: The method used in the preparation of this Literature Review was obtained from 3 database sources, namely Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Pubmed, which was published from 2018 to 2021 using Indonesian keywords, namely "Noise" OR "Agro-industry" OR "Hearing Impaired" OR "Occupational Health Risks". After searching for journal articles using the Google Scholar search engine, according to the keywords that have been determined. Literature analysis took ten journal articles published in 2018-2023, 5 articles discussing noise, two articles discussing hearing loss, two articles discussing occupational health risks, and 1 article discussing agro-industry. Results: From this study, it can be concluded that the presence of noise intensity that has exceeded the threshold value (85 dB) can increase the risk of increased blood pressure of workers, leading to workplace hypertension. In addition, noise can also cause stress because it is one type of stressor in the workplace. Conclusion: It is crucial to plan various ear plug measures to reduce noise exposure in the workplace. The nurse's suggestion is to build public awareness regarding the importance of protecting the ears from noise, one of which is using ear plugs. The purpose of the earplug is to protect and reduce the level of noise that enters the ear.

Abstract

Effective TB treatment involves consistent and timely administration of anti-TB drugs over a sufficiently long period. However, the problem of non-compliance with treatment is common and can result in treatment failure, spread of infection, and drug resistance. This study aims to examine the role of the family as a supervisor in monitoring medication adherence in TB patients. The literature search process in this literature review uses several databases, namely Google Scholar, Science Direct, and PubMed, with the publication year of 2018-2023. The results of this study are expected to provide better insight into the role of the family in supervising medication adherence in TB patients. With a better understanding of the factors influencing family roles, more effective steps can be taken to improve adherence to TB treatment. Our advice as writers is that anyone appointed as a supervisor of swallowing medicine, both nurses and patients' families, must carry out their duties in supervising patients taking medicine. This is because TB is a severe infectious disease, and the way to overcome it is by taking medication regularly and on time. Therefore, the role of drug-swallowing supervisors is needed in this case.

Abstract

Background: In Indonesia the impact of noise that causes hearing loss is still high compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. Noise can cause hearing loss in workers if the scale of the noise is high and occurs continuously. It can also trigger a decline in health that will have an impact on the performance of workers. Objective: to Analysis of PPE Compliance in Preventing Hearing Loss in Agro-Industrial Area. Methods: The research in this study used the literature review method. This search strategy uses several databases such as Pubmed, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar. This search use keywords PPE, Hearing Loss, and Agro-industrial. Results: Increasing noise intensity, duration of work, and duration of exposure can cause hearing loss because the inner hair cells and supporting cells are damaged. The longer the working period, the greater the noise exposure it will receive. The use of PPE can effectively prevent noise-induced hearing loss. Conclusion: Workers exposed to noise are highly susceptible to hearing loss. It depends on the intensity of the noise, the duration of exposure, the sensitivity of the individual or the worker itself and the frequency of the noise. Noise can be prevented, one of which is by using personal protective equipment when working. In this case, nurses can educate related to the use of PPE to prevent hearing loss.
