Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to elucidate the most contrasting differences between Mandarin and Indonesian language rules. Based on the analysis results, it is hoped that this can serve as a foundation for creating a learning media, namely a descriptive material table. The study reveals that the most contrasting rule lies in the Indonesian language auxiliary number words, which have no more than 30 auxiliary number words, whereas in Mandarin, or known as 量, there are over 200 such words. Additionally, there is a rule for constructing past tense sentences. In Indonesian, a word meaning “finished” is used to indicate the past, contrasting with Mandarin, which employs the particle “了”, which can also have different meanings according to different rules. Furthermore, there is a Numeral system rule where Indonesian simply translates numbers into letters, while Mandarin has specific and detailed rules; this clearly presents a contrasting difference. There is also a rule on reduplication, or in Mandarin termed 重叠, where the quantity of rules between the two languages is almost balanced, yet the functions of usage are vastly contrasting. Lastly, there is the rule of “离合词”, a Mandarin language rule that has no equivalent in Indonesian. The method employed is a mixed-method approach, along with a narrative elaboration model based on quantitative differences in the amount of data between Mandarin and Indonesian languages, which are then expounded upon qualitatively. The data source used is the Confucius Institute (孔子学院) recommended books: 标准教程 Standard Course HSK (Hanyu Shuping Kaoshi / Chinese Proficiency Tes) 1 - 6 下 (Part 2). Data analysis techniques include identification, classification, and presentation of the results of data analysis. The results of the research and presentation show that there is a big gap between Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia linguistic tools, with each of the rules that bind it. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a learning media to reduce this gap. Keywords: Material description table, Applied Contrastive Analysis, Mandarin, Indonesian Learners.

Abstract

The research used includes quantitative sample collection and data analysis using statistical methods. The research results show that the use of gadgets has a significant impact on students' social behavior, both positively and negatively. The role of parents is also important in controlling students' social behavior, through mentoring, inviting them together, and controlling the use of gadgets. The impact of using gadgets on students' social behavior can vary depending on how they are used and related factors. Therefore, this research suggests the importance of developing strategies to manage and control students' gadget use, as well as involving the role of parents in the education process and student character development.

Abstract

In oral literary stories this time we discuss the value of myths, basically myths or legends that live in society, sometimes they often happened in the past, but the proof is not concrete and may not really have happened but is just a fairy tale. The value contained in these myths is a form of treasure to enrich literary values that develop from generation to generation so that they can become stories for future children and grandchildren. The value contained in the story is how we must be able to apply the values of politeness norms in social life, because we live side by side with creatures other than us. In this research we used the approach used in oral literature research entitled social values in the Mermaid myth in Telaga Lor, namely using a descriptive qualitative oral literature approach. Primary data was taken by interviews. The sources interviewed were the community, village administrators or elders. Meanwhile, the literature study used was obtained from several internet sources. This technique uses document analysis, behavioral observation, and interviews. Ethnographers have a focus point in their research which includes intensive study of culture and language, a single field or domain, or a combination of historical methods, observation and interviews. Initially ethnography had its roots in the fields of anthropology and sociology. Yet practitioners today conduct ethnographic research in all forms.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a prototype CCU dictionary for BIPA students from China. In addition to language, BIPA students need to understand Indonesian culture because language and culture are related. Language can be mastered well if the culture that accompanies it is also well understood. This research is a mixed study with the ADDIE model development method (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) to the development stage due to the limited time in this study. Needs analysis is done by using questionnaires and literature study. Then, the design and development of this prototype is carried out by taking into account the aspects of the material, presentation, as well as language and readability. The results of this study revealed that most BIPA students experienced culture shock because of the differences in Indonesian culture and the culture of the student country. There are 45 cross cultural understandings that BIPA students from China need to understand. The cross cultural understanding consists of 16 cultural similarities and 29 cultural differences. These cultural comparisons are presented in this developed CCU dictionary prototype. This CCU dictionary prototype is designed to be a material for creating applications as electronic learning media that can be accessed offline and contain images, audio, audio visuals, and text in it. This CCU dictionary prototype contributes to the BIPA teaching and learning process and it is beneficial for students, teachers, and institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the language style in Djenar Maesa Ayu's short story "Mereka Bilang Saya Monyet" and explore its implications for Indonesian language learning in Phase F. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a textual analysis approach and a survey on student interest. The findings reveal that language styles such as metaphor, symbolism, irony, hyperbole, and repetition are strategically used to convey themes of dehumanization, trauma, and exploitation. This research is conducted in SMA A. Wahid Hasyim Jombang. The results highlight that the utilization of language style enhances students' critical thinking, interpretative skills, and aesthetic appreciation. Furthermore, most students demonstrated high interest in learning through this short story, although some struggled with its complex language style. The study concludes that this short story holds substantial potential as a critical literacy-based learning medium relevant to modern students' needs. Further research is recommended to develop adaptive teaching methods utilizing similar-themed literary works to enrich learning materials.

Abstract

This article explores the integration of Pixton, a digital comic creation platform, with deep learning principles to enhance descriptive writing skills in German among Indonesian high school students. The study addresses the persistent challenges of low motivation and limited proficiency in descriptive writing by developing and implementing a Pixton-based teaching module grounded in mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning. Employing a conceptual and case study approach, the research involved needs analysis, module design using the ADDIE model, classroom implementation with 12th-grade students at SMAN 1 Driyorejo Gresik, and qualitative evaluation through observations, interviews, and reflections. Results indicate that the module increased student engagement, creativity, and collaboration, as well as improved vocabulary and sentence structure in German writing. However, challenges such as limited access to technology and the need for teacher training were identified. The findings highlight the potential of combining digital tools and deep learning to create engaging, student-centered language learning experiences.

Abstract

The use of appropriate media is a crucial factor in enhancing students' writing skills, particularly in composing biographical texts. Effective media not only facilitate student engagement but also support the construction of coherent and compelling life narratives. This study aims to examine students' attention levels and evaluate the effectiveness of Padlet as a digital learning medium in improving students’ competence in writing biographical manuscripts. A pre-experimental design with a one-shot case study approach was employed, involving 24 students from Class X-2 selected through cluster sampling. Data were collected using observations and questionnaires, and analyzed through both descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The findings reveal two key outcomes: (1) student attention during the learning process was notably high, with observed activity increasing from 87.92% to 99.33%, supported by a normality test significance value of 0.083; (2) the use of Padlet proved significantly effective, as evidenced by a calculated t-value of 47.54, which far exceeded the critical t-table value of 2.068. These results suggest that Padlet is a valid and effective medium for supporting the teaching and learning of biographical writing. This study contributes to the growing body of research on digital media integration in language learning by empirically demonstrating that Padlet enhances student engagement and writing competence. It provides practical insights for educators seeking innovative tools to improve writing instruction, especially in the context of biographical texts. Moreover, the study reinforces the pedagogical value of interactive platforms in fostering active learning and higher-order thinking skills in secondary education
