Abstract

In the competitive insurance industry, agent performance is a key factor in achieving company success. Various factors can affect an agent's performance, including motivation, self-efficacy, and the reward system implemented by the company. This study aims to analyze the influence of self-efficacy and reward on the performance of insurance agents of PT. Prudential Pruaini Medan Branch, with motivation as a mediation variable. Using a quantitative approach with the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method, data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to 60 agents using a non-probability sampling method and analyzed using SmartPLS software. The results of the study show that self-efficacy has a significant influence on the motivation and performance of agents. Giving rewards has a positive effect on motivation, but does not have a direct effect on performance. Interestingly, motivation was shown to significantly mediate the relationship between self-efficacy and rewarding and agent performance. This study confirms that intrinsic factors (self-efficacy) and extrinsic (reward) factors contribute significantly in improving the motivation and performance of insurance agents. The practical implication of this research is the need to develop training programs to increase self-efficacy as well as performance-based reward systems to increase agent effectiveness.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of sharia swaps in supporting financial stability and Islamic business in Indonesia. Sharia swaps are a risk mitigation instrument designed to minimize the impact of exchange rate fluctuations in international transactions, in accordance with sharia principles. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach. The data used includes primary data, such as interviews with practitioners and academics, as well as secondary data, including annual reports of Islamic banks, related regulations, and scientific journals. The analysis was carried out using thematic techniques to identify the relationship between sharia swaps and financial stability and Islamic business. The research results show that Islamic swaps provide significant benefits for Islamic financial institutions, including supporting international transactions, maintaining competitiveness, and strengthening financial stability. However, its implementation still faces challenges, such as a lack of understanding among sharia financial players, limited infrastructure, and the need for a clearer legal framework. Sharia swaps also open opportunities for further development to strengthen Indonesia's role in the global sharia financial market. The conclusion of this research is that sharia swaps not only function as a risk mitigation instrument but also as a driver of sustainable Islamic business growth. This research recommends increasing education, strengthening regulations, and collaboration between stakeholders to optimize the use of sharia swaps in Indonesia.

Abstract

PT Sumber Tani Agung Resources has implemented a systematic financial recording system as a commitment to accountability and transparency. However, the researcher's observations indicate that production cost reports have not yet classified costs in detail, particularly in separating fixed and variable costs. This study aims to analyze the calculation of the cost of goods manufactured (COGS) using the Variable Costing method as an alternative to the company's current method. The study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach through observation, interviews, and document studies at PT Sumber Tani Agung (PKS Sabungan). The results show that the COGS calculated using the company's method is higher than the Variable Costing method. This difference is caused by the company's treatment of fixed overhead costs, which are included entirely in COGS, while the Variable Costing method only considers variable costs as a component of production. The difference in value between the two methods is Rp 14,017,007.00 per month, which can affect the accuracy of selling price determination and profit planning. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing appropriate cost accounting principles to support effective managerial decision-making. This study provides practical contributions for companies in evaluating COGS calculation strategies as well as academic implications in managerial accounting studies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic Social Capital and Islamic Financial Behavior on the welfare of fishermen in Perupuk Village, Batu Bara Regency. This is a quantitative study using associative analysis. The sampling technique used is the saturated sample method, in which the entire population is used as research respondents. In this study, the population consisted of 95 fishermen, all of whom were included as the research sample. The data analysis techniques used include validity and reliability test, classical assumption test, and multiple linier regression analysis to examine the influence of the dependent variable. The result show that: 1) Islamic social capital and Islamic financial behavior have a significant influence, both partially and simultaneously, on the welfare of fishermen, indicating that social relationships, participation in religious activities, and the application of Islamic financial principles can improve the well-being of fishermen. 2) the influence of Islamic social capital reflects strong ukhuwah (brotherhood) and social solidarity among fishermen. Meanwhile, Islamic financial behavior reflects an awareness of sharia-based financial management. This indicates that Islamic values, when implemented in social life and financial behavior, make a tangible contribution to improving the welfare of fishermen. This study suggest that Islamic social capital and Islamic financial behavior play an important role in enhacing fishermen’s welfare. Therefore, policies that strengthen social networks and improve financial literacy and access to Islamic financial services for fishermen are needed.

Abstract

Competition between traditional markets and modern retailers is increasing, especially because traditional markets are sometimes considered less than optimal in terms of product layout, service quality, and price. However, some consumers still shop at traditional markets. This study aims to analyze how product layout, service, and price influence shopping interest in traditional market retail stores in Medan City. The selected population was customers shopping at retail stores in the Padang Bulan traditional market area of Medan, with a purposive sample of 80 participants. Data were processed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results obtained are that the product layout variable has a significant and positive effect on purchasing interest (p-value = 0.009). The service variable has a significant and positive effect on purchasing interest (p-value = 0.006). The product price variable has a significant and positive effect on purchasing interest (p-value = 0.000). It is recommended that further research expand the variables that influence purchasing interest, for example by including other variables such as advertising and product quality. To make the findings of this study more applicable and generalizable, further research can also be conducted in different locations with different market characteristics. Future research should include additional variables such as advertising, product quality, and digital engagement to gain a more comprehensive view of consumer behavior. Studies in other regions with different socio-economic or cultural backgrounds are also recommended to broaden the findings' applicability. This study provides valuable insights into traditional market competitiveness, showing that improving product layout, service quality, and pricing can enhance purchasing interest and help traditional markets remain relevant amid modern retail competition.

Abstract

This qualitative study analyzes the survival strategies of traditional MSMEs in the digital era through a case study of Enrico Pasar Horas Traditional Spice MSME, which has been operating for more than 30 years, using the SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results) analysis method to identify effective strategies for maintaining business existence without comprehensive digital technology adoption. The research findings indicate that SMEs can survive through three main strategies: value-based differentiation rooted in Islamic principles, emphasizing honesty and trustworthiness in maintaining product quality; Islamic relationship marketing that builds long-term relationships based on trust and fairness; and holistic sustainability that integrates economic, social, and environmental responsibilities in accordance with the objectives of Islamic law (maqashid syariah). The implementation of Islamic economic principles such as ash-shidq (honesty), amanah (trust), al-adl (justice), and mas'uliyyah (responsibility) has proven to create a sustainable competitive advantage through financial stability and strong customer loyalty, enabling SMEs to maintain their existence without relying entirely on digital technology in the modern economic transformation.

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores how social and economic factors simultaneously influence the choice of halal-labeled food and beverages among Muslim Generation Z, with a particular focus on students of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. Previous research has largely examined these factors in isolation, leaving limited attention to their simultaneous effects in shaping halal consumption. Employing a quantitative survey of 100 respondents analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), the study reveals that social factors, such as family and peer influence, serve as the strongest drivers of halal choices, while economic factors, including price and accessibility, function as moderating conditions. The findings contribute to the halal consumption literature by integrating social and economic dimensions within the context of Islamic higher education, thereby addressing a gap concerning young Muslim consumers. Practically, the study suggests that policymakers and halal certification bodies should enhance community-based halal literacy, while businesses may strengthen market engagement through price affordability strategies and the utilization of family and peer influence.
