Abstract

Inflammation is the body's natural defense mechanism against infection or injury. This study aims to evaluate the phytochemical compounds contained as anti-inflammatory agents in starfruit leaves grown in urban areas. The methods used in the study include laboratory tests to obtain soil characteristics including physical and chemical properties, phytochemical screening tests and GC-MS to obtain accurate data related to the bioactive compounds contained in starfruit leaves. The results showed that starfruit leaves contain alkaloids, steroids, saponins, flavonoids, phenolics, and terpenoids, but no tannins were found. This may be due to the clay soil structure where the plant grows which affects the secondary metabolites produced. Furthermore, the GC-MS test obtained thirteen compounds which are anti-inflammatory agents including 2-(p-tolymethyl)-p-xylene; cis-tricyclo [7.5.0.0(2,8)]tetradeca-7,9-diene; (2E,6E,10E)-3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadeca-2,6,10,14-tetraen-1-ol; (2E,7R,11R)-3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-2-hexadecen-1-ol; Dimethyl (3S,4R,5S,6R)-3,6-dimethylcyclohexene-4,5-dicarboxylate; 9,12,15-Octadecatrienol; Palmitic acid; 2-amino-4,4,6,6-tetramethyl-4,6-dihydrothieno[2,3-c]furan-3-carbonitrile; 2(3H)-Phenanthrenone, 4,4a-dihydro-4a-methyl-; 4,8-Dimethyl-3,7-nonadien-2-ol; Benzofuran, 2,3-dihydro-; Acrylic acid; 4-Hydroxy-3-methyl-2H-pyran-2-one.

Abstract

Era Industri 4.0 demands digital literacy and 21st-century competencies in education, including Arabic language learning under Competency-Based Curriculum (KBK) in Indonesian madrasahs. Preliminary observations at MTsN 1 Lamongan revealed discrepancies between KBK's emphasis on communicative maharah lughawiyah (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and classroom realities, marked by limited digital infrastructure and suboptimal interactive media used teacher capacity in order to fully achieve the goals of the competency-based curriculum. This qualitative descriptive study aimed to: (1) describe KBK implementation in Arabic learning within Industry 4.0 contexts, (2) identify barriers related to facilities, digital literacy, and performance assessment, and (3) analyze teachers' strategies for optimization. Data were collected through classroom observations, teacher-student interviews, and documentation from Grade 7 Arabic classes, analyzed thematically. Findings indicate teachers integrate digital media (projectors, smartboards, smartphones) with blended low-tech approaches and collaborative activities (group discussions, chain dialogues). However, implementation faces constraints including uneven LCD/internet access, students' low digital literacy, device distractions, and unstructured assessment rubrics. Teachers mitigate these through vocabulary scaffolding, device scheduling, flexible classroom management, and sustained motivation, positioning facilitation as pivotal to KBK success despite infrastructural limitations. Recommendations include infrastructure enhancement, digital literacy training, and authentic rubric development to optimize KBK implementation.

Abstract

The difficulty of teaching scientific paper writing skills to students has caused researchers to try to integrate Indonesian language course with scientific paper writing techniques. The discovery learning model chosen by the researcher in implementing this integration causes the discovery model to be able to increase and maximize all capacities possessed by students to achieve goals. This study uses the action research method which is able to make researchers interpret all events in field for improvement purposes. This research was conducted at the Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Arabic Language Education Study Programs students totaling 71 students. The research steps used are: diagnosis, action planning, action taking, evaluation, and learning. The results showed that the use of the discovery learning model while integrating Indonesian language courses and scientific writing techniques was able to direct students to understand and practice writing scientific articles, even though students were still in semester one with very little knowledge of research methodology. Therefore, through this research, students will be able to practice scientific ethics in any writing of any scientific work. In addition, they will also get used to thinking scientifically by looking at concrete evidence first before making a decision or taking action.  Keywords: Scientific Articles; Scientific Papers; Integration of Courses

Abstract

he transformation of learning paradigms from teacher-centered to student-centered learning (SCL) positions students as the main actors in constructing knowledge, collaborating, and reflecting on learning outcomes. In the context of Arabic language instruction, particularly maharah kalam (speaking skills), this approach is highly relevant since speaking competence requires continuous interaction and negotiation of meaning. This study aims to improve students’ speaking skills through the integration of SCL with cooperative learning models such as Think-Pair-Share, Jigsaw, Numbered Heads Together, and role-play. The method employed is Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over two cycles using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Qualitative data were collected through observations, interviews, and field notes, while quantitative data were obtained from pre- and post-oral tests in each cycle. The findings indicate that in Cycle I, there was an initial improvement in students’ speaking fluency and confidence, although participation remained uneven and several students struggled with vocabulary. In Cycle II, after the implementation of vocabulary scaffolding, role rotation, performance rubrics, and peer feedback, students demonstrated more significant progress, marked by more stable fluency, more accurate vocabulary use, and more active and collaborative interaction. Challenges such as lack of confidence and unequal participation were minimized through role-based cooperative strategies. These findings affirm that the integration of SCL and cooperative learning models is effective in enhancing maharah kalam and provides practical learning designs that Arabic language teachers can apply in various educational contexts.

Abstract

The elderly are a population group that is vulnerable to various degenerative diseases due to the aging process. The importance of elderly knowledge about healthy and fit lifestyles will affect the health and quality of life of the elderly. Education about healthy lifestyles has a crucial role in helping the elderly understand and implement healthy lifestyle behaviors. Through a good educational approach, it will help the elderly understand how to behave in a healthy and fit lifestyle in old age. The importance of knowledge such as a balanced nutritious diet, stress management, elderly exercise and routine health checks can improve the morbidity and mortality rates of the elderly living in sosial  institutions. In direct observation, the elderly at the Rumoh Seujahtera Geunaseh Sayang Sosial  Institution in Banda Aceh do not fully understand the optimal healthy and fit lifestyle in old age in their daily lives, this is seen by there are still elderly who only sit pensive without doing healthy and fit lifestyle activities in their free time. This service method is carried out through counseling methods and the elderly at the Rumoh Seujahtera Geunaseh Sayang Sosial  Institution in Banda Aceh are the targets of this counseling. The results of this community service program were that the elderly received information on the correctness and importance of maintaining a healthy and fit lifestyle to improve their health. The conclusion of this program was that after receiving this education, the elderly were able to apply a healthy and fit lifestyle in their older years in their daily lives.
