Abstract

Traditional woven fabrics generally use natural dyes that come from the local area. Natural dyes are often considered low quality if exposed to sunlight. This study aims to analyze the effect of sunlight on the image of woven fabrics made from natural dyes. The natural dyes used come from noni (Morinda citrofolia L), which produces a red color; Tarum (Indigofera tinctoria L), which produces a blue-black color; and corn starch juice, which produces a white color. A thread made of cotton is dipped and cooked to produce the desired color. The analysis is done by comparing the value of GLCM (Grey Lever Co-Coruent Matrix) features, changes in the value of Mean Square Error (MSE), and Peak Signal Noise Ratio (PSNR) with the original image. The original image is taken before the woven fabric is dried in the sun. The changing image is taken after the woven fabric is dried in the sun with variations in drying times. The drying time of woven fabric is 1 hour. Sun drying starts from 09:00 to 14:00. The distance between the original and sun-dried images is 30 cm. The original image and the sun-dried image went through cropping and resizing the image to be the same size. The grayscale image type is used for the GLCM, MSE, and PSNR comparison process. The image size used is 128x128 for woven fabric images with three kinds of colors (white, red, and blue) and 256x256 pixels for images with white color. The results showed that the quality of the images produced at drying hours of 09.00-10.00 to 14.00-15.00 tended to be low, with a significant difference between the original image and the changed image. The lowest point of quality lies in the drying time of 12.00-13.00 and 13.00-14.00. For the GLCM features, the sun-dried image at 14.00-15.00 has a homogeneity value close to the original value. For contrast features, the image dried at 10.00-11.00 has a contrast value that is close to the original image contrast value. This shows the smaller the difference in pixel intensity in the image.

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting in toddlers remains a serious global health issue with long-term impacts on children's physical and cognitive development. One of the main challenges in classifying nutritional status is class imbalance, where the number of normal cases significantly exceeds that of minority classes such as stunted and severely stunted. This study aims to develop a hybrid approach by integrating the Gradient Boosting algorithm with the SMOTE-ENN (Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique–Edited Nearest Neighbors) method to improve classification performance on imbalanced data. The dataset used was obtained from the Kaggle platform, consisting of 121,000 entries with four nutritional status categories. Data preprocessing included label encoding, numerical feature standardization, and stratified data splitting with an 80:20 ratio. The model was evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and ROC-AUC metrics. The proposed hybrid model successfully increased the recall for the stunted class from 61.80% to 98.41%, and the F1-score from 71.93% to 83.58%. Overall accuracy improved from 92.39% to 93.35%, while the ROC-AUC score increased from 99.08% to 99.63%. These findings demonstrate that integrating Gradient Boosting with SMOTE-ENN is effective in enhancing sensitivity to minority classes and improving overall multi-class classification performance.

Abstract

Abstract

The balance between blood demand and supply at the Indonesian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD-PMI) is crucial. This condition must be maintained to reduce unused or expired blood supplies. Despite the situation in UTD-PMI, where the blood supply exceeds demand, there is still a shortage of blood when needed by patients. This research aims to model the prediction of blood demand and supply for each blood type using the Back Propagation artificial neural network approach. Data from the last 3 years, from 2020 to 2022, were utilized in this research process. There are three stages in this research process. The first stage involves the training process, using data from January 2020 to December 2021. The testing process utilizes data from January 2021 to December 2022. The prediction process involves displaying the forecasted data for the next 12 months from January to December 2023. The accuracy of the calculations is assessed using the mean square error (MSE). Ultimately, the research results present the prediction model for the four types of blood with respect to the demand and supply. These findings can serve as a reference to regulate future blood donation activities carried out by the UTD-PMI.

Abstract

Dragon fruit cultivation in Kampung Daun Baumata has faced significant challenges due to plant diseases, with farmers reporting a 15% yield reduction in 2022. This study addresses this critical agricultural problem by developing an innovative web-based expert system that utilizes Bayesian probability theory for accurate and timely disease diagnosis. The system provides farmers and agricultural stakeholders with an accessible digital tool to identify common dragon fruit diseases, including stem rot, anthracnose, and fungal infections, through symptom analysis and probability calculations. Implemented using PHP programming language and MySQL database, the expert system offers several advantages over traditional diagnostic methods. It operates independently of human experts, delivers real-time results, and provides prevention recommendations. The Bayesian approach enables the system to process uncertain information and update disease probabilities as new symptom data becomes available, significantly improving diagnostic accuracy compared to conventional methods. Field testing demonstrates the system's effectiveness in supporting farmers' decision-making processes, enabling early disease detection, and facilitating appropriate treatment measures. The implementation of this technological solution has the potential to reduce economic losses, improve crop yields, and promote sustainable farming practices in dragon fruit cultivation. By bridging the gap between farmers and agricultural expertise, this research contributes to the digital transformation of agricultural disease management in developing regions.
