Abstract

This article aims to explore the implementation of the Communication Model by the Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPT PPA) in assisting and protecting child victims of sexual violence in Riau Province. Given the increasing cases of sexual violence against children in Indonesia, this study highlights the importance of a comprehensive approach that integrates religious and cultural values to protect victims and support their recovery. Child sexual violence is an iceberg phenomenon in Indonesia, with many cases going unreported due to stigma and fear of social rejection. This study uses a qualitative approach to collect and analyze data on how UPT PPA Riau Province implements communication. The results show that the use of the Communication Model can increase the effectiveness of assistance, provide strong emotional support, and promote holistic recovery of victims. However, this study also identified several barriers, such as limited resources, lack of community understanding of Islamic values, and challenges in law enforcement. This article proposes strategies to overcome these barriers, including improving community education, strengthening institutional capacity, and using effective and empathetic communication in accordance with Islamic principles. This study contributes to the existing literature by showing how Islamic ethical and spiritual principles can be integrated into child protection practices to address and handle sexual violence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of the National Mandate Party (PAN) communication strategy in attracting the support of millennial voters in the 2024 Election, with a focus on the effectiveness of the use of digital media and face-to-face interactions. Millennial voters, who dominate up to 56.45% of the total voters, are the main target of PAN's political campaign. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with the SMCR (Source, Message, Channel, Receiver) analysis framework to explore the main elements in PAN's political communication. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with party members, campaign teams, and millennial voters in North Sumatra, while secondary data were collected from document analysis and PAN's social media content. The results of the study show that PAN has succeeded in attracting the attention of millennial voters through digital campaigns on social media such as Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp. However, this digital strategy has not been fully effective in rural areas with limited internet infrastructure. In addition, PAN faces challenges in political regeneration, fierce competition with other parties, and a lack of strong local figures. Inconsistency in delivering messages between the center and regions is also an obstacle in building solid relationships with voters. The study recommends that PAN adopt a hybrid strategy that integrates digital and traditional approaches, strengthens the presence of local figures, and adapts messages to the specific needs of millennial voters. This strategy is expected to increase PAN's political relevance and strengthen its electability in the upcoming election.

Abstract

The effectiveness of communication has strong indications that it can overcome phubbing behavior. However, which factors are the most dominant in communication effectiveness is not yet known with certainty. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of communication factors that can overcome phubbing behavior among students in Lhokseumawe City, Aceh, Indonesia. The study’s population consisted of all teenagers in Lhokseumawe City actively studying at state universities in 2022, totaling 8,467 people. The sample included 382 students who met the inclusion criteria set by the researchers and according to a specific formula. This research employed quantitative methods with statistical tests involving Pearson correlation and multiple regression. The results revealed that Positiveness (X4) is the dominant factor significantly influencing the overcoming of phubbing behavior at Lhokseumawe City State University, as evidenced by a partial determination coefficient test value of 0.569 and a relative contribution value of 71.88%. This research contributes to contemporary communication studies and social pathology literature concerning phubbing behavior. It aids in developing communication theories, especially those related to communication psychology and effectiveness.
