Abstract

The rapid evolution of information and communication technology (ICT) has revolutionized education, particularly in the context of distance learning. Social media has emerged as a crucial component in the educational landscape, offering opportunities for collaboration and interaction. This article explores the optimization of social media platforms to enhance distance learning support systems, focusing on the case of Universitas Terbuka, a renowned institution for Open Distance Learning (ODL) programs. The study employs the UTAUT model to investigate the factors influencing the voluntariness of social media use for distance learning. Through a quantitative research design involving 233 respondents, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to analyze the relationships between variables. The findings reveal that factors such as effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions significantly impact students' willingness to use social media for distance learning. These results suggest the importance of fostering social influence and ease of use expectations to enhance the distance learning experience at Universitas Terbuka and similar institutions. Overall, this study underscores the transformative potential of social media in education and its role in shaping the future of learning environments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the use of digital applications in Micro Enterprises (UMi) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs/UKM) in Indonesia, using the TOE (Technology-Organization-Environment) framework. Through a quantitative approach, this study collected data from 426 MSMEs and analyzed it using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) model. The results show that technological factors are the dominant factors in the use of digital applications in MSMEs. However, there are significant differences in the influence of these factors between UMi and UKM. In UMi, technological factors are more prominent, while in UKM, organizational factors are more influential as determinants of digital application use. UMi focuses more on the technological aspect of digital app usage, while UKM prioritize organization as the main driver. This study provides important insights into the dynamics of digital app usage among MSMEs and the strategic differences between UMi and UKM, offering guidance for the development of more effective and scale-appropriate technology strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the pivotal role of leadership and business strategy in addressing the challenges of the rapidly changing and uncertain business environment known as VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous). In the context of ongoing globalization and technological transformation, organizations are facing increasing pressure to adapt and innovate. This study employs a comprehensive literature review methodology to identify key elements of effective leadership in managing the uncertainty, complexity, diversity, and ambiguity associated with VUCA. The research results yield a leadership and strategy model that integrates essential elements, including adaptive leadership, collaborative leadership, and responsive strategies. This model provides practical guidance for business leaders in developing strategies to tackle VUCA challenges and capitalize on existing opportunities. In a fast-paced business world, a deeper understanding of how to effectively combine these elements becomes the key to long-term success. This research holds significant relevance in understanding how organizations can achieve sustainability in the VUCA era and enhance their competitiveness. The proposed model offers a framework that can be applied across various industry sectors and can assist organizations in facing the challenges of an increasingly uncertain business environment more successfully. Keywords: Adaptation; Business; Leadership; Strategy; VUCA World.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/E3J/v6i2.124-132

The quantitative research approach utilized the SEM (Structural Equation Model) analytical methodology and SmartPLS software. This study's participants were 400 Instagram social media users in Bandung who had viewed advertising presented on Instagram. According to the findings of this study, the interaction that comes from advertising material via hedonic motivation has little influence on the purchase intention of Instagram users who have seen commercials promoted in Bandung. Further researchers can add more unknown factors to determine the impact of interaction on customer purchase intention in Instagram advertising via hedonic motivation. Furthermore, other researchers can do the same research but with other research objects, and the findings can be utilized to compare with this research.

Abstract

This study examines the tax revenue and administration system of the brave in Greater Tangerang in the context of low technology adoption despite the initiation of e-government and smart city programs. The study aims to analyze the factors that influence the revenue system using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework. The method used is a quantitative approach with an explanatory research type, using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the relationship between variables. Data were collected from 357 taxpayer respondents through a brave questionnaire. The results of the study indicate that perceived ease of use and perceived benefits have a significant effect on attitudes and actual use of the brave tax administration system. System complexity was found to have a negative impact on ease of use, while system compatibility increased the benefits perceived by users. These findings are in line with the TAM framework, which emphasizes the importance of user perception in determining technology acceptance. To increase acceptance of the brave tax system, the government needs to prioritize complexity and improve system compatibility through user education and technical support. The results of the study provide theoretical contributions by strengthening the TAM framework in the context of public digital services, as well as providing practical recommendations for optimizing the implementation of the brave tax administration system.

Abstract

Waste management is one approach to achieving a greener future. It is also related to SDGs 11 and 12 regarding sustainable cities and communities, as well as responsible consumption and production. Tonjong village is one of the villages in Tajur Halang District, Bogor, which faces significant challenges in managing the large volume of household waste, much of which remains unprocessed. To address this issue, the Business Administration Program, Faculty of Law, Social and Political Sciences (FHISIP), Universitas Terbuka, launched a community service program aimed at improving household waste management through socialization of waste management and composting training in Tonjong village. There are fifteen participants in the community service, including residents of Tonjong village, four neighborhood units, one representative from the neighborhood association, farmers' members, and administrators from Bank Sampah. The outcome of this program is increased ecological literacy and increased awareness among participants in managing waste and processing organic waste into compost. This initiative not only supports better environmental practices but also creates opportunities for the community to generate income by selling compost, with proceeds used to fund future community activities.
