Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Training Instructor Course (TIC) at the Centre of Human Resources Development on Civil Aviation (CHRDCA) using the Kirkpatrick model. TIC training was developed and standardized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). ICAO has developed level 1, 2 and 3 evaluations for TIC training, but has not yet developed level 4 evaluations. CHRDCA can access evaluation levels 1 and 2 from the Trainair Plus Electronic Management System (TPEMS). The evaluation results at level 1 were very good with an average score of 4.73. The results of the level 2 evaluation showed that all participants passed with an average score of 87.1. Level 3 evaluation results are managed directly by ICAO so CHRDCA cannot access them. However, the researchers conducted a survey with the results showing that there was an increase in the quality of behaviours in managing learning. Based on the results of the evaluation at level 3, it can be concluded that at evaluation level 4 there will be an increase in student learning results as a result of an increase in the instructor's pedagogical competence.

Abstract

Indonesian higher education is placing more emphasis on developing 21st-century skills, which require EFL students to read critically, evaluate arguments, and synthesize information from various sources. However, many EFL students still struggle with critical reading due to low motivation, passive reading habits, and a lack of engaging and relevant materials. This study explored the features, content, and design elements needed to help students improve their critical reading skills using Problem-Based Learning (PBL). A mixed-methods approach was used, involving a survey of 120 EFL students from four universities in Bengkulu, Indonesia. Interviews were also conducted with 20 students, 8 English lecturers, 4 heads of English study programs, 4 alumni, 2 school principals (from junior and senior high schools), and representatives from government institutions and private companies. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were examined through thematic content analysis. The research instruments were validated by experts in content, evaluation, and language, followed by a small pilot study to check for clarity and reliability. The findings showed that students prioritize content relevance, clear navigation, and interactive tasks that encourage deeper engagement with texts. Lecturers emphasized the need for the e-book to align with course objectives and incorporate higher-order thinking through task-based learning. Stakeholders stressed the importance of the e-book aligning with institutional goals and supporting critical reading, thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. The study’s multi-perspective approach provides a foundation for developing a relevant, engaging PBL-based e-book to enhance EFL critical reading instruction.

Abstract

The development of student character in integrated Islamic schools, which combine the Muslim personality-oriented Islamic Education Curriculum with the National Curriculum for behavioral assessment on report cards, is of paramount importance. This article focuses on the building of a practical and effective web-based character report card for elementary school children. This research utilized the 4 D methodology of Research & Development (R&D), including define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research findings on the development of e-report applications indicated a validity assessment by media professionals, yielding a score of 85.75%, categorizing it as highly practical. Evaluate the product's practicality with the t-test, which revealed that inputting values in the e-report application was more efficient than manual entry. The effectiveness is evidenced by the teacher's response, which garnered a positive evaluation with a score of 85.60%, categorizing it as very good. Utilizing web-based e-reports for processing assessments aids educators in effectively managing practical character behavior report scores for each assessment indicator description.

Abstract

The research examines the cognition of Foreign English (EFL) students using the Cognitive Thinking Skills method using online media as a solution for speaking skills in the digital era. The research method uses a mix method, namely: a sample of 20 students uses quantitative data analysis techniques to calculate validity and reliability, while qualitative data is analyzed based on Huberman and Miles' theory, namely collecting, reducing, verifying and displaying. The research results showed that students gave positive responses, learning felt easy and they were confident in practicing English with online media so that the development of students' cognition using the Cognitive Thinking Skill method was more adaptable and flexible. Questionnaire with a Likert scale, validity and reliability are calculated statistically: 45 items are tried out into 20 valid items, then whether the items are valid or not use the significance value (P-value) provided that if the significance value is < 0.05 then the item is valid and if significance value > 0.05 then the item is invalid. Cronbach's Alpha is significant at 0.758 > 0.21, meaning the data can be concluded to be reliable. The questionnaire instrument contains aspects of student cognition using the Cognitive Thinking Skills Method with three indicators, namely: thinking, judgment and decision. The percentage shows 45% of students gave a positive response. 25% of the total respondents to the online speaking class were in the very positive category and another 35% chose neutral. Percentage data can provide evidence that cognitive skills are a complex function of the human brain that involves aspects of memory, both short-term and long-term, attention, planning, and reasoning and strategies in a person's thinking.
