Abstract

This study investigated the role of media in building democracy in Nigeria: Focus on freedom of the press. The study was guided by three objectives and also answered three research questions. In conducting this study, the researcher used a descriptive survey research design. The study population consist of citizens of Nigeria across the North Central region. From the population a sample size of 200 respondents were selected using multi stage sampling. Multi stage sampling is suitable because it gives room and possibility for all elements to be fairly represented. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire developed by the researcher. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire developed by the researcher. The instrument was subjected to expert scrutiny to establish content validity. The reliability was also established using internal consistency through Alpha Cronbach method and the reliability coefficient was ascertain at 0.79 which shows that the instrument was reliable. The analysis was performed using descriptive statistics through mean and standard deviation computed using SPSS version 25.0. The analysis revealed among other things that, media is a watchdog of the society and also underscores the role of media in promoting the information and educating the citizenry for healthy democracy. Also that, the freedom of the media should be promoted to promote healthy democracy. The study recommended among other things that, government and stakeholders should ensure strengthening legal protections for journalists to safeguard press freedom and reduce censorship and also should promote media independence by establishing regulatory frameworks that limit government influence and ownership bias among others.

Abstract

Verheijen (1967) noted that there are 43 sub-dialects of the Manggarai language, which are grouped into five dialect groups: West Manggarai, West-Central Manggarai, Central Manggarai, East Manggarai, and Far East Manggarai. However, the Language Development and Fostering Agency states that the Manggarai language has five dialects, including the Tangge dialect in West Manggarai Regency. Neither study was accompanied by scientific evidence underlying the sub-dialect grouping. Therefore, this research aims to provide quantitative evidence to re-evaluate the variations of the Manggarai language, especially those spoken in West Manggarai Regency. Data was obtained by asking 200 Swadesh vocabularies in ten sample observation areas. The results show that the Manggarai language in West Manggarai Regency is divided into three sub-dialect variations, namely the Kempo sub-dialect (MSdK), the Kolang sub-dialect (MSdS>H), and the Transition area sub-dialect (MSdT). Consistent grouping based on dialectometric calculations and cluster analysis proves that MSdK includes Mbuit, Watu Wangka, Sano Nggoang, Siru, and Benteng Dewa. On the other hand, MSdS>H only consists of Golo Lajang Barat because it shows high linguistic differences from other nearby areas. The MSdT includes Watu Waja, Poco Rutang, Lale, and Tentang. Still, the inclusion of Watu Waja in this group needs to be reconsidered because of the differences in results between dialectometric calculations and cluster analysis.

Abstract

This study discusses Arkoun's reasoning in the interpretation of the Koran. This paper concludes that the language of the Qur'an contains symbols that can contribute to linguistics, which in turn produces linguistic theories and can be related to the context of mythical thinking caused by the symbols that appear in it. Classical interpretation has a tendency to reduce symbolic languages. Arkoun's reasoning is taken from the tradition of Western thought which is outlined in terms that are sometimes difficult to understand, and on the other hand his ideas are able to give their own color to the treasures of Islamic scholarship

Abstract

In learning biology, there are many topics that require group work, such as practicum in the laboratory, observation in the field, or discussion of more complex concepts. In this process, interpersonal intelligence becomes one of the important factors in supporting the biology learning process. This study aims to prove whether or not there is a correlation between interpersonal intelligence and students' biology learning outcomes in high school. This research is a quantitative study with a correlational research design. The research was conducted at Ar-Riyadl High School with a total research sample of 30 students. The instrument used was a questionnaire for the independent variable (interpersonal intelligence) and documentation of the Final Semester Assessment (PAS) of the 2023/2024 school year for the dependent variable (biology learning outcomes). Data analysis to test the research hypothesis using Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis. The results showed that there was a correlation between interpersonal intelligence and students' biology learning outcomes in senior high school. This can be seen in the value of r count (0.662) > r table (0.361) and the significance value (0.662) > 0.05 which means Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that the research hypothesis that has been formulated can be accepted, namely that there is a correlation between interpersonal intelligence and students' biology learning outcomes in senior high school.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang “Pengaruh Gaya Mengajar Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti terhadap Motivasi Belajar Peserta Didik Kelas XI di SMK N 4 Majene” yang bertujuan untuk: 1) Mendeskripsikan gaya mengajar guru pendidikan agama Islam dan budi pekerti di SMK N 4 Majene; 2) Mendeskripsikan motivasi belajar peserta didik di SMK N 4 Majene; 3) Menganalisis pengaruh gaya mengajar guru pendidikan agama Islam dan budi pekerti terhadap motivasi belajar peserta didik di SMK N 4 Majene. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif expost facto. Adapun sumber data penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI di SMK N 4 Majene dengan populasi berjumlah 76 orang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data adalah skala gaya mengajar guru dan skala motivasi belajar peserta didik. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis regresi linier sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik deskriptif, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa: 1 gaya mengajar guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti terletak pada kategori tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata (mean) sebesar 42. sedangkan motivasi belajar motivasi belajar peserta didik di SMK Negeri 4 Majene terletak pada kategori sedang dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 45. Dari hasil dari pengujian signifikansi linearitas diperoleh sebesar 0,408 artinya nilai sig linearitas lebih besar dari nilai 0,05 dengan tingkat signifikansi 0,408 > 0,05 atau terdapat pengaruh/hubungan. Dengan demikian, X atas Y adalah signifikan atau gaya mengajar guru (X) berpengaruh terhadap motivasi belajar (Y) peserta didik di SMK Negeri 4 Majene. Implikasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu bagi pendidik, untuk lebih memfokuskan diri pada gaya mengajar yang dilakukan saat ini, bagi sekolah, untuk bisa menjadi bahan evaluasi terhadap gaya mengajar guru untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didik, sekolah dapat menggunakan hasil penelitian ini sebagai acuan untuk mengidentifikasi kekuatan dan kelemahan dalam pendekatan pengajaran yang dilakukan oleh guru. Dengan demikian, sekolah dapat mengambil langkah-langkah yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran, bagi penelitian yang akan datang, penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan dalam melakukan penelitian terhadap gaya mengajar guru pendidikan agama Islam dan budi pekerti, penelitian ini dapat menjadi dasar untuk mengembangkan penelitian lebih lanjut.

Abstract

UPA Bahasa Politeknik Negeri Sambas adalah unit pelaksana teknis di bidang layanan bahasa yang melaksanakan english course setiap tahunnya guna meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa mahasiswa. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk membuat multimedia interaktif bisa dipelajari secara efektif dan efesien sehingga tidak hanya terbatas pada kelas luring tetapi juga bisa menjadi media self learning yang dapat diakses kapanpun dan dimanapun. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara dan studi literatur. Penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model ADDIE (analyze, design, development, implementation, evaluation). Subyek validasi terdiri dari seorang ahli media, 2 orang ahli materi dan 30 orang responden. Validitas menurut ahli media menunjukkan kategori sangat setuju (84%), menurut ahli materi pembelajaran TOEIC menunjukkan kategori sangat setuju (90%), menurut ahli materi kedua menunjukkan kategori setuju (78%), berdasarkan uji coba ke-30 orang responden menunjukkan kategori sangat setuju (88,4%), sehingga aplikasi Multimedia Interaktif pembelajaran TOEIC dirasa telah layak untuk digunakan sebagai media pendukung sistem konvensional dalam menyampaikan materi.

Abstract

Understanding laboratory equipment is a fundamental competency in science education. However, students often face difficulties in mastering laboratory tools due to the lack of practical and reliable learning resources. Dependence on invalid sources negatively affects the quality of practicum and research. This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of a digital encyclopedia on laboratory equipment as a learning resource to enhance the effectiveness of science learning. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The Define stage involved needs analysis through surveys and interviews, curriculum analysis, student characteristics analysis, and formulation of learning objectives. The Design stage focused on creating a product prototype. The product was validated by four experts (a subject matter expert, a media expert, a language expert, and an instructional design expert). Practicality testing involved 28 students and 4 lecturers from the Biology Education study program. The validation results showed scores of 93% for language, 93.2% for content, and 95% for media, indicating that the digital encyclopedia is very feasible for use. Practicality tests resulted in a score of 96.2% from students and 88.33% from lecturers, indicating that the product is very practical, engaging, and effective in supporting independent learning. The final results conclude that the digital encyclopedia is both valid and practical as a learning resource. The study recommends further development with broader content coverage and the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) technology to enhance interactivity.

Abstract

This The development of Islamic philosophical thought in studying knowledge cannot actually be separated from the contribution of the thoughts of two figures in Islamic philosophy at that time, namely Al-Farabi and Ibn Sina. These two figures also inspired the enlightenment period of European civilization, especially in terms of legal philosophy and science, so that it became a civilization that is quite advanced to this day. This research was conducted to explore the main ideas of the philosophers Al-Farabi and Ibn Sina. The method used in this research is a literature study with primary data from books and journals. The findings in this research are that Al-Farabi's legal philosophy emphasizes the soul as he believes in the existence of a separate rational soul that is capable of achieving happiness through contemplation of intelligible reality. Meanwhile, Ibn Sina's thinking believes that reason can enable progress through various levels of understanding and ultimately lead to God and ultimate truth. In science, Al-Farabi believes that knowledge can be obtained through active reason and intellectual intuition. Meanwhile, Ibn Sina's view of science was very broad and influential, and he believed that knowledge could be obtained through the senses and reason. It is hoped that the implications of this research will be for readers as a motivator in learning the knowledge of Allah, worshiping and practicing to cleanse themselves, guarding every word, deed, heart and mind to always get closer to Allah.

Abstract

PKM Strategi Pemanfaatan Teknologi Informasi dalam Pencegahan Cyberbullying untuk Siswa di SMK Negeri 3 kota lhokseumawe untuk mengantisipasi salah satu dampak negatif dari perkembangan teknologi digital yang memberikan ancaman serius bagi kesehatan mental dan sosial siswa. Fenomena ini menuntut adanya strategi pencegahan yang efektif melalui pemanfaatan teknologi informasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji strategi penggunaan teknologi informasi dalam upaya pencegahan cyberbullying di kalangan siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur terhadap berbagai penelitian terdahulu dan analisis praktik implementasi teknologi di bidang pendidikan. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan teknologi informasi dapat dilakukan melalui tiga pendekatan utama: (1) penggunaan aplikasi pengawasan dan pelaporan untuk mendeteksi serta menangani kasus cyberbullying secara cepat, (2) penguatan literasi digital siswa melalui platform e-learning dan konten edukatif interaktif, serta (3) kolaborasi sekolah, orang tua, dan penyedia layanan digital dalam menciptakan sosial secara online dan aman. Kesimpulan dari pengabdian ini adalah Pemanfaatan teknologi informasi dalam pencegahan cyberbullying bagi siswa terbukti efektif bila diarahkan pada tiga aspek utama: deteksi dini melalui aplikasi pengawasan, peningkatan literasi digital siswa, dan kolaborasi antara sekolah, orang tua, serta penyedia layanan digital. Strategi ini tidak hanya menekan potensi terjadinya cyberbullying, tetapi juga membangun budaya digital yang sehat dan aman bagi siswa. Dengan demikian, integrasi teknologi informasi dalam program pendidikan dan kebijakan sekolah menjadi langkah krusial dalam pencegahan cyberbullying.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to find out the ideal standard of sports facilities and infrastructure in State Elementary Schools in Jungkat District, Mempawah Regency. The method used in this research is a descriptive selection method in the form of a survey. The techniques used to collect data in this study were direct observation techniques, direct communication techniques and documentary studies, while the tools used to collect data in this study were observation sheets, interview sheets and documentation. The population in this study used a saturated sample. The data analysis technique in this study used a frequency distribution. The results of the study concluded that sports facilities and infrastructure in State Elementary Schools in Jungkat Village, Mempawah Regency did not meet the criteria for the ideal standard of sports facilities and infrastructure based on the Minister of National Education Regulation No. 24 of 2007. 2021 provides an average of 30.06% and an ideal standard. The ownership of facilities and infrastructure in State Elementary Schools in the Jungkat District is the property of the school. The feasibility of the facilities and infrastructure of State Elementary Schools in the District of Jungkat, Mempawah Regency is included in the Less category.
