Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks prosedur menggunakan gambar berseri dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Siswa merasa kesulitan dalam menuangkan idenya dalam bentuk tulisan karena media pembelajaran yang digunakan Guru kurang menarik. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis Penelitian tindakan kelas, yang terdiri dari dua siklus . subjek Penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX.1 MTs. Paitana. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa menggunakan gambar berseri dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks prosedur, siswa lebih aktif dan kreatif dalam mengembangkan tulisannya yang dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan hasil nilai rata-rata siklus I adalah 62 dan perolehan hasil rata-rata siklus II adalah 75. Berdasarkan hasil Penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa menggunakan gambar berseri sebagai media dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks prosedur

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan teknik mind mapping untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi dan sikap pada siswa kelas X Sosial MAN Pinrang. Penelitian kuasi-eksperimental sebagai desain dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian dilakukan di dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X Sosial MAN Pinrang tahun ajaran 2021-2022. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa tes tertulis, angket, dan lembar observasi. Data yang diperoleh melalui tes dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil tes menulis siswa menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menulis siswa kelompok eksperimen meningkat secara signifikan. Rata-rata skor kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dari kelompok kontrol (76,18 60,32). Nilai post-test t-test siswa menunjukkan bahwa Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak (5,039 1,685). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan mind mapping secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi pada siswa. Peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa memiliki sikap positif terhadap penggunaan mind mapping. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan data angket bahwa skor rata-rata sikap siswa adalah 85,16 dengan kategori sangat tinggi.

Abstract

The major problems of this study were how to develop the students’ speaking performance in terms of speaking accuracy dealing with acceptable pronunciation, correct grammar, and appropriate word choice and how to trigger the students’ positive attitudes toward the use of cooperative learning method in terms of Students Team Achievement Division method. The results of the study showed that (1) the students’ speaking performance in terms of speaking accuracy dealing with acceptable pronunciation, correct grammar, and appropriate word choice developed significantly indicated by the significant differences between the mean scores of pre and post tests at the 0.05 level for each component, and (2) the use of Students Team Achievement Division as one of the cooperative learning methods could trigger the students’ positive attitudes. The study concluded that the use of Students Team Achievement Division as the teaching method has brought new nuance in English language teaching and become a need in an attempt of developing the students’ speaking performance in terms of speaking accuracy and triggering their positive attitude to speak English.Keywords: Speaking Performance, Cooperative Learning

Abstract

Kegiatan pendampingan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan, pemahaman dan keterampilan dasar bagi para staf editor pengelola jurnal IJOBEC tentang tampilan dan sistem pengelolaan jurnal yang baik. Dalam kegiatan ini, para dosen memberikan presentasi dan diskusi tentang berbagai hal yang diperlukan jika ingin mengelola jurnal, meliputi: tampilan menu jurnal di web, cara mengedit tampilan menu jurnal, dan cara mengisi artikel pada web jurnal. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh para dosen pengabdi, kaprodi BEC, dan dua orang staff pengelola jurnal IJOBEC. Hasil dari kegiatan pendampingan ini menunjukkan bahwa para staf pengelola jurnal IJOBEC sangat terbantu dalam merancang tampilan jurnal di web, mengedit tampilan menu yang tersedia dan mengetahui cara memasukkan artikel di jurnal tersebut. Mereka sangat antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan ini dan mengakui bahwa kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat bagi mereka. Para staf pengelola jurnal IJOBEC dan kaprodi BEC juga berharap dan menyarankan agar adanya kegiatan lanjutan sehingga jurnal tersebut dapat menerbitkan artikel tepat waktu tiap edisi dan dapat menjadi jurnal yang terakreditasi. This assistance activity aims to provide basic knowledge, understanding, and skills for editorial staff managing the IJOBEC journal regarding the appearance and good journal management system. In this activity, the lecturer gave a presentation. They discussed various things that are needed if you want to manage a journal, including: how to display the journal menu on the web, how to edit the appearance of the journal menu, and how to fill in articles on the web journal. This activity was attended by service lecturers, heads of the BEC study programs, and two management staff of the IJOBEC journal. The results of this mentoring activity show that the managing staff of the IJOBEC journal is greatly assisted in designing the journal's appearance on the web, editing the available menu views, and knowing how to enter articles into the journal. They were very enthusiastic about participating in this activity and admitted that this activity was very useful for them. The managing staff of the IJOBEC journal and the head of the BEC study program also hope and suggest that further activities be carried out so that the journal can publish articles on time for each edition and can become an accredited journal.

Abstract

This study aims to see the learning model applied by lecturers in improving students' English skills and to see the lecturer and students' views on the English for Aviation course. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study design, where data is collected through observations checklist and conducting interviews with purposive sampling. Data were analysed by data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing and verification. The use of an integrated learning model is considered to take an important role by lecturers considering the short duration of learning, where several aspects of English Skills are combined into one learning material. In addition, speaking and listening are the two aspects that lecturers pay attention to considering that aviation learning is more communication with passengers. Students' views on the application of English for Aviation have had a positive impact on improving listening and speaking skills. However, students feel that certain aspects, such as the lack of variety in instructional methods and the limited class duration, hinder the achievement of optimal learning outcomes.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat kapasitas guru dalam menulis artikel ilmiah melalui pelatihan berbasis Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Peserta kegiatan terdiri dari guru-guru yang tergabung dalam Perhimpunan Guru Pondok Pesantren Ash Shalihin dan Ikatan Guru Indonesia (IGI) Kabupaten Polewali Mandar (Polman). Metode pelaksanaan meliputi survei awal untuk mengidentifikasi kemampuan menulis guru, wawancara mendalam, penyajian materi terkait penulisan ilmiah berbasis PTK, diskusi interaktif, sesi konsultasi individu, serta review artikel secara langsung. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kapasitas guru dalam beberapa aspek, yaitu: (1) pemahaman struktur dan format artikel ilmiah berbasis PTK, (2) kemampuan merancang dan menuliskan latar belakang masalah yang kontekstual, (3) keterampilan menyusun metodologi PTK, dan (4) kemampuan merevisi artikel berdasarkan umpan balik yang diberikan dan hasil plagiasi. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan berbasis PTK merupakan strategi efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi menulis ilmiah di kalangan guru, khususnya di lingkungan pesantren dan organisasi profesi guru daerah.Kata kunci: Pelatihan artikel ilmiah, Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), Kapasitas Guru

Abstract

This qualitative study investigates how undergraduate students use the QuillBot Paraphraser to minimize plagiarism in the process of writing their thesis proposals. Conducted in December 2024 at the English Education Department of STKIP YPUP Makassar, the research employed purposive sampling to select five students who were actively working on their proposals and had prior experience using QuillBot. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and supported by document analysis using Turnitin plagiarism reports. The findings revealed that students generally follow a structured paraphrasing process. Students reported significant improvements in sentence structure, vocabulary use, and a noticeable reduction in similarity percentages on Turnitin. The study concludes that QuillBot can effectively support the minimization of plagiarism and improvement of academic writing quality.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and determine the transactional communication model using Shockley-Zalabak’s Organizational Communication Process Model used by the employees in delivering transactional utterances in workplace management. The research method was qualitative with a descriptive design. The subjects of this study are employees in the academic and broadcasting workplaces. Data on the transactional communication model were collected through transcripts of observations accompanied by audio recordings. The findings of the study reveal that communication within organizational settings is fundamentally transactional, interactive, and context-dependent. Across all extracts, communication emerges not as a simple transmission of information but as a co-created process shaped by hierarchical roles, organizational procedures, feedback loops, and interpersonal dynamics.

Abstract

This research explores using the Free Fire game in building a bonding intercultural social network among its players. In an era marked by rapid technological advancement and globalization, the internet has become a platform for diverse cultural interactions, with online games playing a central role. Free Fire, a popular mobile battle royale game, offers a unique environment for players from different cultural backgrounds to connect, collaborate and form social networks. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design to investigate language use and the supporting and inhibiting factors in the formation of intercultural social networks through the Free Fire game. Data were collected through participant observation, interviews, and document analysis, focusing on how players use language to interact, communication strategies, and develop friendships. The results show that the importance of effective communication and collaboration in fostering social relationships, with supporting factors such as accessibility, teamwork, and a diverse community of players, as well as hindering factors such as language barriers, cultural differences, and in-game toxicity. This research contributes to the understanding of online gaming as a platform for intercultural exchange and provides insights into how gaming environments such as Free Fire facilitate the creation of cultural social networks.

Abstract

This study examines the linguistic strategies employed in Instagram skincare advertisements and their role in constructing persuasive messages and reinforcing dominant beauty ideologies. The study adopts a qualitative method through Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), utilizing Fairclough’s three-dimensional framework: textual analysis, discursive practice, and social practice. Data were collected purposively from five Instagram posts by prominent skincare brands, selected based on relevance and audience engagement. The analysis reveals the use of imperatives, emotive vocabulary, structured narratives, and authoritative tone to build trust, appeal to emotions, and promote aspirational beauty ideals. These linguistic choices contribute to a discourse that equates beauty with confidence, self-worth, and social acceptance. The study identifies how these advertisements implicitly link consumption with self-improvement, positioning skincare not merely as a product but as a lifestyle necessity. The findings suggest that skincare advertisements on Instagram function not only as marketing tools but also as ideological texts that shape consumer identity and perpetuate societal norms regarding beauty and self-care. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on discourse and digital media by highlighting the intersection of language, ideology, and consumer culture in online marketing practices.
