Abstract

Giving complementary breastfeeding too early is one of the inhibiting factors for exclusive breastfeeding. The results of a preliminary survey conducted at the UPTD Health center Boronadu South Nias Regency where interviews were conducted with mothers and it was found that 8 mothers did not know that babies should only be given breast milk until they were 6 months old and they agreed that babies less than 6 months old were given additional food other than breast milk such as bananas, tea, formula milk and other foods. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of mothers regarding early complementary breastfeeding at the UPTD Health center Boronadu South Nias Regency in 2022. This study was an analytic observational study with a cross sectional design. The population is all mothers having babies more than 6 months at the UPTD Health center Boronadu South Nias Regency, namely 118. The number of samples based on the sample formula is 48 people. There is a significant relationship between the knowledge (p=0.022) and attitudes (p=0.006) of postpartum mothers and the provision of early complementary breastfeeding in the UPTD Work Area of the Boronadu Health Center in 2022. It is also hoped that health workers at the UPTD Boronadu Health Center will be able to further increase public knowledge regarding complementary breastfeeding and increasing its role in efforts to achieve exclusive breastfeeding through counseling, which can be carried out at village meetings, posyandu and counseling during pregnancy checks.

Abstract

Insufficient knowledge about anemia has an influence on health behavior, especially when a woman is pregnant, which will result in less than optimal health behavior for pregnant women to prevent pregnancy anemia. Pregnant women who have less knowledge about anemia can result in less consumption of foods containing iron during pregnancy due to their ignorance. Objective: To determine the relationship between pregnant women's knowledge about anemia and compliance with taking Fe tablets. Research population: the population used is the population of all patients at BPM Boloni Tanaka Kec. Medan Johor in 2023 as many as 32 pregnant women. Research Type: The type of research used is an analytical survey with a cross sectional research design. Data collection uses a questionnaire. Data were processed using univariate analysis using descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test. The results of the Chi-square test analysis show that the p value = 0.000, which means less than α = 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between pregnant women's knowledge about anemia and compliance with consuming Fe tablets at BPM Boloni Tanaka District. Medan Johor in 2023.

Abstract

Background: Breast milk is the best nutrition for babies and has long-term benefits for both mother and child health. A critical factor in successful breastfeeding is breastfeeding self-efficacy (BSE), a mother's confidence in her ability to breastfeed. Methods: This quasi-experimental study employed a pre-test and post-test design with a control group and purposive sampling. The sample comprised 60 postpartum mothers: 30 in the intervention group and 30 in the control group. The intervention involved using the PIANA application for four weeks. Statistical tests were performed using SPSS 26 for univariate and bivariate data analysis. Outcomes were measured using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney U tests to assess whether psychoeducation could increase postpartum mothers' confidence in breastfeeding. Results: Bivariate analyses of the variables were conducted using statistical tests after the application, namely the Midwife's Role variable (p = 0.023), the Psychoeducation variable (p = 0.032), and the BSE variable (p = 0.012). The results of the bivariate analysis of the three variables showed that the Midwife's Role with BSE psychoeducation positively affected postpartum mothers' confidence in breastfeeding. Conclusion: Psychoeducational applications using a mind-body approach have been shown to improve breastfeeding self-efficacy in postpartum mothers. Optimizing the role of midwives through this medium can serve as an effective, flexible educational tool to support postpartum mothers in achieving breastfeeding success.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is the most effective public health intervention for reducing infant morbidity, mortality, and the risk of stunting; however, global and national coverage rates remain below established targets, partly due to low breastfeeding self-efficacy and suboptimal maternal attitudes during the antenatal period. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the TUKKOT ASI Application, which is based on the Batak local wisdom of “Mambosuri,” in improving breastfeeding self-efficacy and pregnant women’s attitudes toward readiness for exclusive breastfeeding. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group approach was employed involving 40 third-trimester pregnant women in the working area of Gunung Tinggi Public Health Center in 2025, selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale–Short Form (BSES-SF) and a validated attitude questionnaire based on the Theory of Planned Behavior. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and chi-square test at a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed a significant increase in breastfeeding self-efficacy (mean 10.1±3.7 to 16.8±2.2; p=0.001) and attitudes (mean 5.7±1.4 to 7.9±1.5; p=0.003) following the intervention. Significant associations were found between self-efficacy (p=0.028) and attitudes (p=0.001) with readiness for exclusive breastfeeding. Mothers with higher self-efficacy and positive attitudes were more likely to demonstrate better readiness. It is concluded that the TUKKOT ASI Application is an effective culturally based digital intervention model to enhance pregnant women’s readiness for exclusive breastfeeding and has the potential to be integrated into primary healthcare services.

Abstract

Kata kunci: ASI eksklusif; foxy oil; pijat oksitosin; pemberdayaan keluarga; stunting Abstract Low rates of exclusive breastfeeding are often triggered by maternal perceptions of insufficient milk supply, which poses a risk to infant growth and increases stunting rates. This community service program aims to implement the "Foxy Massage" innovation, a combination of oxytocin massage and the use of Foxy Oil (fennel-based oil/Foeniculum vulgare) to independently increase breast milk production. The program was conducted through intensive mentoring over one month for 30 postpartum mothers and their families in the Tanjung Morawa Health Center working area. The activities included education on lactation mechanisms, training in Foxy Oil production, and demonstrations of oxytocin massage techniques for husbands and families as primary support systems. The results showed a significant improvement in the families' skills to perform the intervention independently. Clinically, there was an increase in breast milk volume, followed by an ideal frequency of infant wet diapers (6-8 times per day) and a stable upward trend in infant weight gain. This innovation proved to be safe, economical, and effective in stimulating prolactin and oxytocin hormones. In conclusion, empowering families through the Foxy Massage technique serves as an applicable strategy to support exclusive breastfeeding success and accelerate the reduction of stunting at the community level. Keywords: exclusive breastfeeding; family empowerment; foxy oil; oxytocin massage; stunting.

Abstract

Excessive fear, anxiety, stress or anger can cause slow labor progress. Feelings of tiredness, fear and hopelessness are the result of pre-labor or a prolonged latent phase. Women who are not supported emotionally, or have had difficulties in previous births, can feel anxious and afraid to face labor, resulting in labor without significant progress and labor that is very painful. Age that is too young and too old, too much parity and knowledge is suspected to increase anxiety in mothers. The aim of this research is to determine the factors related to postpartum maternal anxiety during childbirth at RSU Vina Estetica Medan in 2023. This type of research is analytical observational with cross-sectional. The population in this study was all postpartum mothers who gave birth at RSU Vina Estetica Medan for the January-April 2023 period, namely 116 people. The sample taken based on the Slovin formula was 54 people. Data analysis was carried out using statistical tests using chi-square, to see the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable. The results of the research show that there is a relationship between age and knowledge of postpartum mothers and anxiety during labor at RSU Vina Estetica Medan in 2023. There is no relationship between parity and anxiety of postpartum mothers during labor. It is recommended that health workers at RSU Vina Estetica Medan provide regular counseling to mothers about childbirth starting at the beginning of the pregnancy check-up, in order to reduce postpartum maternal anxiety..

Abstract

Breast milk production can be influenced by two factors, namely production and expenditure. Use a warm compress, namely warm water which is then compressed onto the breasts using a towel. Not infrequently non-medical therapy as above is often applied to postpartum mothers whose breast milk has not yet come in, of course first by conducting training with the puskesmas coordinator midwife, to improve maximum service. The research was carried out by determining the initial level of pain intensity (pretest) before giving a warm compress and then continuing with measuring the pain intensity (posttest) after giving a warm compress. The results of the Independent sample t test showed P Value = 0.001, meaning p < 0.05, stating that there is a relationship between warm compresses and pain intensity in mothers with breast milk dams at the Pratama SAM Kampung Baru Clinic, Medan Maimun in 2023. Other research on the effectiveness of compresses Varney said that warm compresses are considered the right action to relieve pain, and for some women who experience problems with breast milk, it is known that using warm compresses alternately can provide a feeling of comfort. Apart from that, the intense pain when there is a blockage in the breast means that mothers tend to choose the easiest method, one of which is a warm compress.

Abstract

Abstract

Background Background LBW is still a concern for public health throughout the world and is associated with a number of short-term and long-term problems. More than 20 million births each year are estimated to be LBW, accounting for 15% to 20% of all births globally. In poor countries, the LBW birth rate is 16.5%, while in industrial countries it is 7%. Babies with low birth weight (LBW) may experience a number of problems and complications at birth. Metabolic problems, especially hypothermia, may appear in the short term. Method The research used is quantitative, information about what you want to know is examined using numerical data through a retrospective survey. Conducting a retrospective survey is one method of collecting historical data. This research uses a cross-sectional strategy. The sample for this in-depth research was all 60 mothers who gave birth at Sapta Medika Hospital. Analysis data using univariate and bivariate analysis. From the results of statistical tests it was found that p.value = 0.004 and α = 0.05, where the value of P.value (0.004) < α (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between maternal age and the incidence of low birth weight (LBW) babies. ). Where the P value (0.019) < α (0.005), so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between maternal parity and the incidence of low birth weight (LBW) babies. Where the P.value (0.001) < α (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between maternal nutritional status and the incidence of low birth weight (LBW) babies.

Abstract

Factors that influence anxiety in pregnant women include lack of family support, financial adequacy, stress from the environment, high frequency of nausea and vomiting (physical health factors of pregnant women), attitudes towards pregnancy and ability to control pregnancy, good adjustment process to pregnancy. physically and psychosocially, as well as information about frightening birth experiences from the environment. (Andriana, 2016) This research aims to determine the influence of the class of pregnant women on anxiety among primigravida mothers in Parmonangan Village, Samosir Regency in 2023. This research uses a quantitative research design using correlational research and a cross-sectional approach, the population and sample size are primigravida mothers with a gestational age of 8-37 weeks in Parmonangan Village, Samosir Regency, namely 40 people using the total sampling method in April-June 2023. Analysis uses the Chi Square test for significance and if the p-value is > 0.05. Based on the results of the Chi Square statistical test research, the p value = 0.001, so p > 0.05, means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that there is a relationship between the class of pregnant women and primigravida anxiety at the Tanjung Pura District Hospital, Langkat Regency based on Spearman's rho calculations with ᾳ = 0.05, a p value of 0.010 is obtained because the p value < ᾳ means that the test results are statistically significant, or reject Ho. described that pregnant women who attended classes for pregnant women had mild levels of anxiety. It is hoped that this will provide information about the implementation of pregnancy classes for primigravida mothers in reducing anxiety about their pregnancy
