Abstract

Peningkatan harga dan terbatasnya ketersediaan pupuk bersubsidi menyebabkan petani mencari alternatif pupuk yang lebih terjangkau dan tersedia untuk mendukung kesinambungan usaha budidaya pertanian. Salah satu pupuk yang sering digunakan masyarakat adalah pupuk organik yang berasal dari limbah kotoran hewan ternak sapi. Desa Mayangan, Kecamatan Gumukmas, Kabupaten Jember memiliki potensi limbah kotoran sapi yang melimpah dari usaha pertenakan yang di lakukan oleh masyarakat desa setempat. Sebagian besar para petani masih menggunakan cara konvensional sehingga membutuhkan waktu relatif lama. Pengabdian desa binaan Universitas Jember di Desa Mayangan ini bertujuan untuk membantu penyediaan pupuk organik bagi petani dan mempercepat waktu proses pembuatan pupuk dari limbah kotoran sapi dengan aplikasi teknologi enkapsulasi pupuk organik  granular. Diharapkan kegiatan pengabdian ini mampu mendukung program pertanian berkelanjutan dan ketahanan pangan. Adapun tahapan pengabdian yang direncanakan meliputi sosialisasi kegiatan dan edukasi, pendampingan pembuatan pupuk organik granular berbahan dasar limah kotoran sapi,  penerapan teknologi enkapsulasi, dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Program strategis sesuai RIP UNEJ yang diacu yaitu pengembangan dan penerapan teknologi unggulan tepat guna untuk mendukung peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat melalui program desa mitra unggulan. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa dari 25 responden menunjukkan 100% peserta mengenal pupuk granula dari kompos kotoran sapi dan mengenal bakteri Rhizobium sp., serta 92% mampu membuat enkapsulasi pupuk dari limbah kotoran sapi dengan bakteri Rhizobium sp.

Abstract

Surjan is a specific type of cropping system that is part of a local wisdom practice found in Kulonprogo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The cropping system employs a polyculture system with a raised-sunken bed configuration. In ancient times, this system was initiated as a conservation initiative in the event of drought. In the context of agroecosystems, defined as the interaction between biotic and abiotic components, arthropods serve as indicators of the biotic components of the agricultural environment. The presence of arthropods is influenced by the use of synthetic pesticides. In response to the use of synthetic pesticides, biopesticides are frequently used as a countermeasure. The present study aims to ascertain the impact of biopesticide applications on the composition of arthropods in agricultural land that utilizes surjan cropping system configuration. This study was conducted on the surjan cropping system in Kulonprogo Regency, which is predominantly characterized by the cultivation of rice and shallots. The biopesticide used in this study was a group of fungi, namely Trichoderma harzianum and Metarhizium anisopliae. These organisms function as bioprotectants and biofertilizers. The findings indicate that surjan cropping system, when accompanied by biopesticide utilization, yield a greater diversity of arthropod species in comparison to surjan cropping system that employs synthetic pesticides. In agricultural land with surjan system configuration and biopesticide applications, certain arthropods function as predators, parasitoids, and bioindicators. The most prevalent arthropod species identified is Verania sp. (Coleoptera; Coccinelidae), with a total of 68 individuals. The present study has yielded findings indicating a correlation between the application of surjan cropping system and the utilization of biopesticides in land cultivated with a specificcrops and the composition of arthropods in the environment.

Abstract

Water spinach is one of the most popular vegetable commodities in Indonesia. Currently, limited land due to plastic waste and uncertain climate change are inhibiting factors for plant cultivators. Efforts that can be done is to carry out cultivation activities to water spinach hydroponically. Hydroponic cultivation can use the wick system because it is easy to apply and does not require expensive costs. To support optimal growth of water spinach and reduce plastic waste in Indonesia, presenting AB Mix nutrition and the use of plastic bottles as a nutrient container in hydroponic cultivation are efforts to obtain quality water spinach production. This study aims to determine the response of water spinach plants to the use of hydroponic growing systems, as well as to obtain information regarding the best concentration of AB Mix. The experimental method used was a completely randomized design, which consisted of 3 levels, namely the nutrient concentration of 800 ppm, 1000 ppm and 1200 ppm. The results of the various concentrations of mixed AB showed significantly different effects on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves and weight of fresh plants. AB Mix concentration treatment of 1200 ppm was the best treatment for all observed parameters.

Abstract

Porang (Amorphophallus muelleri B.) is a type of tuber that contains glucomannan, which is used as a raw materials for the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. In vitro culture as porang propagation method using plant parts (leaf explants) was developed under aseptic environmental conditions. Sterilization is an important aspect in the success of micropropagation in obtaining sterile explants. This research method used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 2 factors, namely clothes bleach sterilant containing NaOCl 5.25% (Bayclin®) at 30% concentration for 15 minutes (Treatment A), and using clothes bleach containing NaOCl 5.25% (Bayclin®) at 30% concenteration for 15 minutes + 70% alcohol for 15 seconds (Treatment B). Each treatment was filled with 3 explants, and every treatment was repeated 27 times, so that experimental units were obtained with a total of 162 explants. Treatment B is the best treatment in obtaining sterile explants, because it is more effective in removing contamination and inhibiting contamination and browning with survival the highest rate of 51.85% and the lowest mortality rate of 48.15%, it can also suppress and inhibit the appearance of contamination and browning compared to treatment A.

Abstract

Water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica) is a plant that is included in the type of vegetables and is widely cultivated as food. Every year the demand for water spinach in the market continues to increase, besides that consumers also want the quality of water spinach which is more nutritious, clean, and hygienic. Therefore, hydroponic water spinach is used to support consumer demand in the market. In addition, by cultivating water spinach hydroponically as well as an alternative to farming in narrow areas. In hydroponic cultivating water spinach, there are several things that need to be considered, such as the provision of nutrition, the planting media used, and what hydroponic system will be used. This study aims to determine the response of water spinach plants to the treatment of different planting media, as well as to obtain information about what planting media is suitable for use in the DFT water spinach hydroponic system to support its growth and development. The experimental method used was a completely randomized design, which consisted of three different levels of treatment, namely the use of rockwool, charcoal, and moss media. The results of this study of differences in planting media showed the treatment with the best tendency for the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, and plant fresh weight

Abstract

Waste management in urban areas is a serious issue if it is not handled properly and with special attention to management activities. Properly managed waste can provide economic value if it is sorted and processed at the source. The Waste Bank “BERSERI” in Burengan Village, Kediri City, plays an important role in reducing the amount of waste in urban areas through a participatory approach to the community. This community service activity aimed to provide an overview of waste management activities at the Waste Bank and to outline the involvement of the community and relevant parties in supporting waste management activities at the Waste Bank “BERSERI” in Kediri City. The community service activities conducted by the Service Team included discussions and interviews during a visit to the BERSERI Waste Bank location. The results of the interviews indicated that the Waste Bank “BERSERI” has collected various types of inorganic waste through mechanisms including sorting, weighing, recording, and distributing the proceeds from waste sales to customers. The waste collected has also been recycled into valuable products, both from inorganic and organic waste. The existence of waste bank management heavily depends on active community participation and the roles of various parties, including the government, universities, and the private sector.

Abstract

The problem of fertilizer scarcity and the high cost of chemical fertilizers are major challenges for farmers in Karangharjo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency. This community service program aims to increase the competitiveness of local products through product diversification and packaging innovation of granular organic fertilizer made from goat manure waste with the addition of Trichoderma sp. The implementation method includes socialization and education, discussion forums, granular organic fertilizer product diversification activities, introduction and demonstration of product packaging. The results of the activity show an increase in farmers' knowledge and skills in utilizing livestock waste into quality fertilizer packaged in economical sizes. This innovation not only overcomes fertilizer limitations, but also opens new economic opportunities and strengthens the competitiveness of organic fertilizer products in a sustainable manner. This activity is well received by farmers and is expected to continue.

Abstract

Upaya pengembangan tanaman sorgum selalu diupayakan untuk perbaikan sifat varietas tanaman sorgum yang masih memiliki produktivitas yang masih rendah dan masih rentan terserang hama dan penyakit. Pengembangan bioteknologi sangat menjanjikan untuk menghasilkan varietas yang baru tanaman sorgum melalui trasnformasi genetik. Metode kultur jaringan yang tepat pada tanaman ini diperlukan untuk meningkatkan keberhasilan budidaya secara kultur jaringan terutama melalui induksi kalus. Penilitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh konsentrasi suplemen madu terhadap pembentukan kalus pada dua varietas tanaman sorgum. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial. Faktor pertama konsentrasi madu terdiri dari enam taraf yaitu 0 g/l, 5 g/l, 10 g/l, 15 g/l, 20 g/l, dan 25 g/l. Faktor kedua varietas tanaman sorgum yaitu Numbu dan Suri 4. Variabel yang diamati meliputi awal kemunculan kalus, warna dan tekstur kalus, serta tingkat pencoklatan media. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penambahan madu 15 g/l (M3) pada media induksi kalus merupakan media terbaik terhadap awal kemunculan kalus. Perlakuan M3V1 (15 g/l;Numbu) menghasilkan kalus dengan warna putih kekuning - kuningan, tektur kalus yang remah, membentuk kalus yang embriogenik dan menekan pencoklatan pada media hingga 0% sehingga mendapatkan kalus dengan kualitas yang baik. Varietas Numbu memberikan respon terbaik dibandingkan varietas Suri 4 pada penilitian ini.Kata kunci: kalus, madu, sorgum, somatik embriogenesis

Abstract

Tembakau sebagai bahan baku pembuatan rokok mempunyai nilai ekonomi dan ekspor yang tinggi, namun permasalahan perbanyakan secara konvensional sering menghasilkan keturunan yang heterogen dan beberapa komoditas introduksi seringkali mengalami pertumbuhan yang tidak normal pada fase pembibitan sehingga pemenuhan kebutuhan bahan tanam yang seragam sering menjadi kendala. Kultur in vitro dapat menjadi alternatif dalam perbanyakan bahan tanam yang relatif seragam dan tahan terhadap perubahan lingkungan. Penggunaan zat pengatur tumbuh (ZPT) utamanya golongan sitokinin seperti benzyl amino purine (BAP) dan kinetin sangat mendukung pada multiplikasi tunas tembakau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi BAP dan kinetin yang optimal pada multiplikasi tunas tembakau. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan faktor BAP (0, 2, 3, dan 4 ppm) dan faktor kinetin (0, 3, dan 4 ppm). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan interaksi BAP dan kinetin berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap kedinian eksplan bertunas, jumlah tunas, dan daun dengan perlakuan terbaik. Konsentrasi BAP 3 ppm + kinetin 4 ppm yang menginduksi tunas pada 8,3 HST; jumlah tunas 81,3; dan jumlah daun 142,3 helai. Penggunaan BAP berpengaruh nyata terhadap kedinian eksplan berkalus dengan perlakuan terbaik pada konsentrasi 3 ppm BAP yang menginduksi kalus pada 10,78 HST. Kinetin berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap kedinian eksplan bertunas dengan perlakuan terbaik P2M2 yaitu 4 ppm, yang menginduksi tunas pada 8,3 HST. Kesimpulannya perlakuan BAP 3 ppm + 4 ppm kinetin merupakan perlakuan terbaik.

Abstract

The majority of residents in the village of Karangrejo work as farmers and breeders. Yosowilangun sub-district has an area of ​​2,271 hectares of dry land and 56,206 hectares of paddy fields. The problem in Karangrejo village is the lack of awareness of the people who dispose of livestock manure carelessly without any use. In addition, another problem is that some Karangrejo farmers use chemical fertilizers which are currently experiencing price increases and the government has also reduced subsidies. Therefore, UMD Community Service Students at Jember University Group 197 together with UPT BPP Yosowilangun carried out an innovative program to socialize the impact of using chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This aims to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and make farmers and breeders aware of efforts to create environmentally friendly villages. This service activity was carried out through socialization and distribution of pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The method used is quantitative by distributing questionnaires to Karangrejo farmers. Based on the results of the questionnaire data analysis, it can be seen that there is an increase in farmers' knowledge regarding the advantages of using organic fertilizers and plant-based pesticides and the impact of using chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This is expected to be able to make people aware of the dangers of using chemical fertilizers and pesticides that can damage the surrounding environment.
