Abstract

Carving motifs are one of the most important factors in creating a carving work, by taking sources of ideas from motifs of flora, fauna, and so on. The existence of various sources of ideas makes researchers interested in the shape of arowana fish and lotus flowers. Apart from being an ornamental fish which is almost extinct, no business people in Grobogan Regency yet use carved arowana fish motifs, most still use floral and tiger motifs. This research aims to understand the process of creating carvings and describe the results of the carving work with the source of ideas being arowana fish and lotus flowers. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive research method. The procedure for carrying out the research is to create a carving motif that takes the source of the idea from the arowana fish and its habitat, then realizing it in a carved work. Data collection techniques using field observations, interviews with carving craftsmen and artists, documentation. The results of the research by describing the carving work in the creation process on teak wood using carving techniques, as well as using spray paint coloring techniques using brown melamine paint, the resulting work shows that it is suitable to be used as a carving motif and needs to be developed in various attractive colors and shapes. If a product is marketed, it is best if there is a motif that can be highlighted, if the motif is left like that, the motif will seem monotonous

Abstract

The obong ritual is a death ritual carried out by the kalang community as a means of respecting the spirits of deceased ancestors. This ritual is a local wisdom in Kendal Regency. However, many people of kalang descent have abandoned obong rituals, so there is a need for cultural socialization media so that these rituals are not eroded by the times. This research aims to analyze the aesthetic form, symbolic meaning, and role of the obong ritual as a medium for cultural socialization. The research method used is a qualitative approach. Data was taken using in-depth interviews, documentation and observation. The research was conducted in Tratemulyo Village, Weleri District, Kendal Regency. The uniqueness of this research location is that the majority of the kalang people in Tratemulyo Village are actually Muslim, but still practice and carry out ceremonies of respect for ancestral spirits in the form of obong rituals. The research results show that the aesthetic form of the visual properties used in the obong ritual contains deep symbolism. It is not just decoration, but also summarizes the values and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. The symbolic meaning of offerings in the obong ritual never experiences a shift in meaning, because the meaning is passed down from generation to generation by the kalang shaman.

Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy represents a key government initiative in Indonesian higher education. Universitas Negeri Semarang, as one of the universities supporting MBKM, has undertaken various preparation and implementation efforts. Within this framework, the Home Economics and Fashion Education study programs actively participate in the Kampus Mengajar (Teaching Campus) program—one of the eight flagship MBKM programs. This study focuses on the implementation of Kampus Mengajar in these two programs, with particular attention to activities in target schools and the mentoring and guidance provided by supervisors and mentor teachers. The objectives are: (1) to analyze the implementation of Kampus Mengajar in the field, including mentoring and guidance activities that contribute to program success, and (2) to assess program achievement for Home Economics and Fashion Education students through case studies involving observation, monitoring, and interviews. This qualitative research employed triangulation-based data analysis to ensure validity. The findings indicate that the program has been implemented satisfactorily but has not yet achieved full effectiveness. Key challenges include limited socialization in target schools, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, lengthy adaptation periods, low literacy and numeracy skills among school students, and limited use of interactive learning media. Evaluation results, based on distributed questionnaires, show that while the program operates well, its effectiveness remains partial. Mentoring and guidance processes are conditional and flexible but structured to meet students’ needs. These findings provide evidence-based insights for improving the future implementation of Kampus Mengajar in higher education contexts.

Abstract

: This article presents a literature review on the historical transformation and cultural diffusion of the ocarina, with a particular focus on its global evolution and its emergence in Indonesia. As a member of the vessel-flute family, the ocarina has undergone a long historical trajectory, evolving from a prehistoric artifact into a modern musical instrument with both educational and artistic functions. The literature indicates that the modern form of the ocarina was developed in Italy by Giuseppe Donati in the nineteenth century and subsequently disseminated to various regions of the world through trade routes, music education, and popular culture. In Indonesia, the ocarina has begun to attract attention as an alternative musical instrument in primary education and as part of creative clay-based craftsmanship. This study underscores the importance of cross-cultural perspectives in understanding the evolution of musical instruments and recommends further research focusing on local practices, craft production, and pedagogical integration within educational institutions.   Keywords: ocarina, vessel flute, music history, cultural diffusion, music education, Indonesia

Abstract

Islamic character values that include piety, honesty, discipline, tolerance, and social concern must be internalized from an early age. To address the challenges of internalization that tend to be rigid, approaches through art, particularly visual expression, become relevant. Visual arts, like drawing, are the universal language of children that facilitate authentic self-expression, where emotions, understanding, and values can be realized without verbal barriers, thus becoming a potential medium for instilling character. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature review or by looking at previous research as reference material in article writing. Based on the results of the research obtained, children's drawings can be a very effective foundation for knowing character education in children. In addition, it helps shape children into better individuals, have strong characters, balance emotionally, intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Integrative in character education through religion and art provides significant theoretical benefits in synthesizing the philosophy of Islamic education, fine arts education, and the psychology of child development.
