Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the franchising system on business performance in the beverage franchise business through a case study of Mitra Minuman Siap Saji. The approach used is qualitative with a case study design, with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, operational observations, and supporting documentation. The results show that the implementation of standardized Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), franchisor support in the form of training, raw material supplies, and periodic monitoring contribute significantly to improving business stability, product quality consistency, and customer satisfaction. However, there are limitations in flexibility and several communication obstacles that have the potential to affect the effectiveness of the partnership. The relatively strict contract structure also impacts partners' perceptions of local innovation space, although it is generally still viewed as providing business security and business model clarity. These findings emphasize that a balance between franchisor control and partner autonomy, accompanied by open communication and fair contract design, is a key factor in creating sustainable business performance in a franchising system.

Abstract

This study aims to explain how community participation contributes to the transformation of marketing strategies in Dana Berkah, a home-based batik microenterprise in Tuban. Employing a qualitative single-case study design, the research traces the how and why processes through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and analytical techniques including pattern matching, explanation building, time series analysis, and the logic model. The findings reveal that prior to joining the community, the enterprise experienced marketing isolation, limited visual documentation, restricted market reach, and passive promotional behavior. Participation in the MSME community generated substantial changes through the expansion of promotional channels, intensification of offline marketing activities, wider access to information, and the development of a stronger business identity. The community acted as a change mechanism by providing informal learning, information exchange, and emotional support that enhanced the owner’s confidence to adopt proactive marketing practices. These results highlight the role of community-based social capital in strengthening marketing capabilities among resource-constrained microenterprises. The study is limited by its single-case design, reliance on self-reported narratives, and the limited observation timeframe. Practically, the study offers a collaborative learning model applicable to batik microenterprises and other creative-sector MSMEs, and provides valuable insights for policymakers designing network-based empowerment strategies.

Abstract

Numerous challenges arise concomitant with the rapid advancement of technology through digital marketing models that have been deployed by several small enterprises to rival comparable products. The transition to the digital market owing to the Industrial Revolution and the COVID-19 pandemic poses both threats and opportunities for technology-driven multinational corporations and micro and small enterprises. Nevertheless, only a few entrepreneurs have been able to capitalise on these prospects. In 2022, the significance of non-traditional media in science and technology for developing new product marketing capabilities that are autonomous, adaptable, and environmentally attuned is becoming more evident. It is crucial to establish entrepreneurship programmes tailored to the needs and requirements of 25 UMK students as per their respective groups and technical disciplines. Programmes should be customised to suit the capabilities, requirements, and preparedness of each department to facilitate the development of an entrepreneurial culture. An attempt has been made to establish synergy bridges using a specific approach. This approach can be implemented progressively and steadily for a particular cohort of skilled businesses or simultaneously for a variety of target groups. An organised campaign is required to foster an entrepreneurial culture through education and training of the target groups. The Programme for the Application of Science and Technology in Business (P2M) will be executed by LPM to enhance the entrepreneurial aptitude of 25 UMK students. This project intends to develop the business skills of the participants while maintaining objectivity in its evaluations. The use of simple sentences and causal connections facilitates the comprehension and logical coherence of the text. Consistent formatting and a conventional structure have been employed, while a high register and precise vocabulary have been utilized to maintain a balanced, value-neutral tone. Grammatical correctness has been ensured through careful editing. The Programme for the Application of Science and Technology in Business (P2M) will be executed by LPM to enhance the entrepreneurial aptitude of 25 UMK students.

Abstract

The increasingly competitive business environment encourages micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the culinary sector to adapt through product innovation, strengthening social networks, and utilizing digital marketing to enhance business success. This study aims to analyze the effects of product innovation, social capital, and digital marketing on the business success of culinary-sector MSEs in Gresik Regency, as well as the role of competitive advantage as a mediating variable. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method and involves 377 respondents who are culinary MSE owners in Gresik Regency. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM–PLS) with SmartPLS 4. The results indicate that product innovation, social capital, and digital marketing have positive and significant effects on the business success of MSEs. Furthermore, these three variables also have positive and significant effects on competitive advantage. Competitive advantage is proven to have a positive and significant effect on business success and partially mediates the influence of product innovation, social capital, and digital marketing on business success. These findings confirm that the business success of MSEs depends not only on the availability of resources and marketing activities, but also on entrepreneurs’ ability to manage and transform innovation, social networks, and the use of digital marketing into sustainable competitive advantages that align with local market characteristics. This study provides practical implications for MSE owners and stakeholders in formulating integrated business development strategies to enhance competitiveness and business success in the culinary MSE sector.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the high-risk nature of mining operations and the need to ensure worker safety at PT Vale Indonesia Tbk’s nickel mining site in Sorowako. The objective was to assess the implementation and effectiveness of its Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program, particularly in preventing workplace accidents. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews with six key informants. The findings indicate that the OHS program has contributed to a notable decline in minor accidents between 2022 and 2023, largely due to safety education, consistent enforcement of procedures, and regular safety communication. Nevertheless, challenges remain—such as uneven implementation, limited employee engagement, and the prevalence of unsafe behaviors, which account for the majority of incidents. The study concludes that achieving a truly effective safety culture requires moving beyond compliance toward shared responsibility, supported by strong leadership, active workforce participation, and the adoption of innovative tools and global best practices to realize the company’s zero-harm vision.Practically, these findings offer an evidence-based roadmap for strengthening OHS systems in dynamic nickel mining environments; theoretically, this study enriches phenomenological discourse on the interplay between safety policies, human behavior, and technology within extractive industries in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze human resource (HR) competency development as a strategy for realizing environmentally friendly entrepreneurship in MSME cafés in Ermera Regency, Timor-Leste. This study is conceptual in nature, examining various theories and current empirical findings related to HR competency, sustainable entrepreneurship, and environmentally friendly business practices in the MSME sector. HR competency development is seen as an important foundation for MSMEs in adopting green entrepreneurial behavior, including innovation capabilities, environmental knowledge, sustainable attitudes, and managerial skills that support resource efficiency. This study found that structured HR competency can encourage the emergence of environmentally friendly entrepreneurial strategies, such as waste reduction, efficient energy use, environmentally friendly product innovation, and strengthening the image of green businesses. Through conceptual analysis and theoretical integration, this article offers a conceptual model that explains the relationship between HR competency development and environmentally friendly entrepreneurial strategies in the context of MSME cafés. Theoretically, this study enriches the literature related to green entrepreneurship, while practically, it provides an overview for MSMEs, local governments, and supporting institutions to design HR development programs that are more oriented towards sustainability.

Abstract

Strategic planning is an important element for the sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in facing competition and market dynamics. This study aims to analyze the strategic planning process at Lumba-Lumba Cassava Chips MSME in Malang, which operates in the highly competitive snack food industry. The approach used is descriptive qualitative through case study method, with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observation of production and marketing processes, and documentati . Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that strategic planning in this SME is carried out informally and based on the owner's experience, but it covers the main components of strategic planning, namely situation analysis, strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation. The strategies are aimed at improving product quality, stabilizing raw material supplies, and expanding the marketing network through souvenir shops. However, product innovation, digital marketing, and strategy documentation are still not optimal. Strategy evaluation is also carried out intuitively without measurable performance indicators. This study concludes that although strategic planning at Lumba-Lumba Cassava Chips SME is not yet structured, the strategies implemented are able to maintain business sustainability. This study provides implications for SME actors to strengthen strategy documentation, product innovation, and digital marketing, as well as for SME facilitators to improve strategic management training in line with the SME context.

Abstract

Sustainability performance in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is a crucial element for strengthening regional economic competitiveness, including in Probolinggo City. Government policies that encourage business sustainability through capacity enhancement, innovation, adaptation, and the reinforcement of green entrepreneurial orientation position entrepreneurial orientation and innovation capability as strategic determinants of MSME continuity. Global demands related to environmental issues, advances in production technology, shifting consumer preferences, and the growing need for eco-friendly products increasingly require MSMEs to develop their innovation capabilities. Although most MSMEs have not yet attained the level of innovation capability and green entrepreneurial orientation found in larger enterprises, the demand to operate sustainably remains a priority. This study aims to analyze the relationship between green entrepreneurial orientation, innovation capability, and sustainability performance among MSMEs in Probolinggo City. The research involved 30 MSME actors as respondents, using questionnaires as the primary instrument and data processing through SmartPLS. The findings indicate that green entrepreneurial orientation has a positive and significant effect on innovation capability and sustainability performance. Innovation capability also significantly influences sustainability performance; however, it does not mediate the relationship between green entrepreneurial orientation and sustainability performance.
