Abstract

The performance of plantation employees has become an important issue in today’s modern and digital era, considering the declining interest of younger generations in working in the plantation sector, particularly in tapping positions. This study aims to analyze the influence of self-efficacy, job conditions, and employee retention on the performance of plantation employees through work discipline at PT Socfindo Labuhanbatu Utara. This research is an associative quantitative study with a population consisting of all plantation employees at PT Socfindo Aek Pamingke, totaling 979 employees. The sample used consists of 284 employees selected through non-probability sampling using an incidental sampling approach, with the criterion that employees must have worked for at least 10 years. Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling (SEM) with the assistance of Smart PLS software. The results show that self-efficacy has a direct positive and significant effect on employee performance, but a negative and insignificant effect on work discipline. Job conditions have a significant negative effect on both employee performance and work discipline. Employee retention has a significant positive effect on both employee performance and work discipline. Moreover, work discipline itself has a significant positive effect on employee performance. Indirectly, self-efficacy and job conditions do not have a significant effect on performance through work discipline, whereas employee retention has a significant.

Abstract

Employee performance is a crucial factor in achieving organizational goals. However, the performance of employees at PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia in the Tapaktuan region remains suboptimal, as evidenced by unmet work targets and low achievement of key performance indicators. Based on preliminary survey results, work stress, physical work environment, and work motivation were identified as dominant factors contributing to performance decline. This study aims to analyze the influence of work stress and physical work environment on employee performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, using questionnaires distributed to 52 marketing staff respondents. The preliminary survey revealed that most employees experienced stress due to high workloads and tight deadlines, worked in uncomfortable environments, and had low work motivation, both internally and externally. Work motivation was found to play a significant role in strengthening or weakening the influence of stress and work environment on performance. This study contributes to the development of human resource management theory and provides practical recommendations for management to improve performance through enhancing the work environment, managing stress, and increasing motivation. Future research is recommended to involve a larger sample size and to consider other variables such as leadership and organizational culture.

Abstract

The development of information technology has encouraged a shift in consumer behavior from conventional to online shopping. Although the e-commerce industry generally shows growth, Tokopedia, as one of the major platforms, has experienced a decline in the number of visitors. According to data from iPrice, Tokopedia's monthly visitors decreased from 158,136,700 in 2021 to 96,933,334 in 2023. This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of gamification, user experience, and e-service quality on repurchase intention through customer satisfaction as a mediating variable among Tokopedia users in Medan City. This is an associative study using a quantitative approach. The population in this study consists of Tokopedia consumers in Medan City who have the Tokopedia application and have made at least two online transactions through the application, with the exact total population being unknown. The sample comprises 225 respondents selected using purposive sampling, with criteria including a minimum age of 18 years and a minimum education level of senior high school (or equivalent). Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) method. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) method. The results indicate that gamification has a positive but not significant direct effect on customer satisfaction and repurchase intention among Tokopedia users in Medan City. User experience and e-service quality have a positive and significant direct effect on both customer satisfaction and repurchase intention. Additionally, customer satisfaction itself has a positive and significant direct effect on repurchase intention. Indirectly, user experience and e-service quality have a positive and significant influence on repurchase intention through customer satisfaction, while gamification shows a positive but not significant indirect effect through the same mediating variable.

Abstract

Indonesia ranks fourth globally in coffee production, yet faces challenges in domestic market penetration. This study examines how Instagram social media marketing and User-Generated Content (UGC) influence purchase decisions through brand trust at Alligator Roastery Medan, a specialty coffee business experiencing declining customer visits from 680 daily visitors in 2022 to 420 in 2024. Using quantitative methodology with PLS-SEM analysis on 161 respondents selected through purposive sampling, data were collected via structured questionnaires. Results indicate that Instagram positively influences brand trust (β=0.423, p=0.004) and purchase decisions (β=0.298, p=0.005). UGC significantly affects brand trust (β=0.428, p=0.004) but shows no significant direct effect on purchase decisions (β=0.194, p=0.097). Brand trust mediates both relationships significantly and demonstrates the strongest direct effect on purchase decisions (β=0.456, p=0.000), explaining 80.8% of variance in purchase decisions. Findings suggest that digital marketing strategies must prioritize building brand trust through consistent, authentic content and leveraging consumer-generated content to enhance credibility and drive purchase behavior in the specialty coffee market.
