Abstract

This study aims to enhance the listening comprehension of seventh-grade students (Class VII.3) at State Junior High School 10 Tanjungpinang through the implementation of a Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach using podcasts on Spotify. The CRT framework was employed to address the monotony of conventional instructional media and to increase student engagement by incorporating content that resonates with their cultural background. This classroom action research was conducted over two cycles. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ listening comprehension: the average pretest score of 63 rose to 86 following the Cycle I podcast intervention. Podcasts proved to be a flexible and engaging learning medium that also encouraged students to think critically about the information presented. Furthermore, the teacher’s role in fostering an inclusive learning environment contributed to the success of this approach. These findings suggest that CRT‑based podcast integration offers an innovative solution for teaching listening comprehension.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an instructional medium in the form of a Poetry Gallery utilizing the Google Sites platform for teaching poetry texts to eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang. The primary focus of this development is to assess the validity and practicality of the designed media. The development model employed is based on the 4D model, which was modified into three stages: define, design, and develop. The learning media developed is an interactive digital platform consisting of four main components: learning outcomes, learning objectives, material content, and quizzes. The validation process was conducted by two experts, namely a media expert and a content expert. To evaluate the practicality of the media, trials were conducted with two groups of students: a small group of 8 students and a large group of 40 students. Data were collected using two approaches: qualitative descriptive methods to analyze feedback, suggestions, and comments on the media, and quantitative descriptive methods to assess the scores related to the media’s validity and practicality. The validation results indicated that the media achieved a validity score of 88%, categorized as “valid and practical,” while the material validation reached 82%, categorized as “highly valid and highly practical.” The practicality tests conducted with students showed a score of 84% in the small group and 83% in the large group, which are classified as “highly practical and valid” and “practical and valid,” respectively.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to develop a product, namely Ninjaku learning media on the material of phase E poetry text for SMA Negeri 6 Tanjungpinang students in the 2024/2025 academic year. This type of research is R&D (Research and Development) using the 4D research model (Four-D Model) and only focuses on the third stage, namely defining (Define), designing (Design), and developing (Develop). The product developed in this research is a digital-based learning media that can be accessed using devices. This learning media has been validated by the assessment of two experts, namely media experts and material experts. Then this media has been tested by students who are divided into two groups, namely a small group consisting of 5 students and a large group consisting of 40 students. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, questionnaire sheets for validation of media experts and material experts, and questionnaire sheets for practicality by students. Data analysis techniques in this study are descriptive qualitative and descriptive quantitative. The results of validation by media experts obtained a score of 96.8% with very valid criteria, and the results of validation by material experts obtained a score of 86.6% with very valid criteria. After conducting validation, a practicality trial was conducted on small group students to obtain a score of 97.8% with very practical criteria, and large group students obtained a score of 90.8% with very practical criteria. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan suatu produk yaitu media pembelajaran Ninjaku pada materi teks puisi fase E peserta didik SMA Negeri 6 Tanjungpinang tahun pelajaran 2024/2025. Jenis penelitian ini adalah R&D (Research and Development) dengan menggunakan model penelitian 4D (Four-D Model) dan hanya fokus hingga tahap ketiga, yaitu pendefinisian (Define), perancangan (Design), dan pengembangan (Develop). Produk yang dikembangkan pada penelitian ini merupakan media pembelajaran berbasis digital yang dapat diakses menggunakan gawai. Media pembelajaran ini telah divalidasi oleh penilaian dua ahli, yaitu ahli media dan ahli materi. Kemudian media ini telah di uji kepraktisan oleh peserta didik yang terbagi dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok kecil yang terdiri dari 5 peserta didik dan kelompok besar yang terdiri dari 40 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini yaitu wawancara, lembar angket validasi ahli media dan ahli materi, dan lembar angket kepraktisan oleh peserta didik. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kualitatif dan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil validasi oleh ahli media memperoleh nilai 96,8% dengan kriteri sangat valid, dan hasil validasi oleh ahli materi memperoleh nilai 86,6% dengan kriteria sangat valid. Setelah melakukan validasi, dilakukan uji coba kepraktisan pada peserta didik kelompok kecil memperoleh nilai 97,8% dengan kriteria sangat praktis, dan peserta didik kelompok besar memperoleh nilai 90,8% dengan kriteria sangat praktis. Abstract

This study aims to develop the Kota Berita learning media on News Text Material for Grade VII Students of SMP Negeri 6 Tanjungpinang for the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The development model used in this study is the 4D model up to the development stage only. The media developed is in the form of interactive multimedia learning in the form of an application containing material, practice questions, and quizzes about news texts completed by students. Kota Berita media has been assessed by two validators, namely media experts and material experts. The number of students testing the practicality of the media was 5 for the small group and 40 for the large group. The data collection techniques in this study included interviews, media validation questionnaires by media experts and subject matter experts, as well as media practicality questionnaires by students consisting of large and small groups. The data analysis techniques in this study consisted of qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study showed that the Kota Berita media obtained a validation percentage from media experts of 89% on average with a qualification of “highly valid”, while the validation from subject matter experts was 85% with a qualification of "highly valid". Furthermore, the results of the media practicality test by the small group obtained an average of 77% with a qualification of “practical,” while the practicality by the large group obtained an average of 84% with a qualification of “very practical.” This research can be used as a reference for the development of other digital media.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the needs analysis as the foundation for developing the Observara interactive media based on Google Sites in learning to write observation report texts for tenth-grade students. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Four-D (4D) model, with the discussion in this article limited to the Define stage. The Define stage consisted of front-end analysis, learner analysis, concept analysis, and specifying instructional objectives. Data were collected through interviews with an Indonesian language teacher, questionnaires administered to 32 tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang, and document analysis. The findings revealed several learning problems, including students’ difficulties in generating ideas, organizing observation report texts according to the appropriate structure, and applying proper linguistic features. In addition, the learning media previously used had not optimally supported students’ understanding of the material. The learner analysis also indicated that students required more interactive learning media and showed positive readiness toward the use of Google Sites, supported by adequate digital facilities. Furthermore, the concept analysis and instructional objectives served as the basis for designing learning materials and activities that aligned with students’ needs. These findings demonstrate that the Define stage provides a comprehensive foundation for developing the Observara interactive media to support observation report text writing instruction.
