Abstract

The Effect of Banana Peel Compost on the Growth and Yield of Spring Onion in Alluvial SoilAnggelina1, Siti Hadijah2, Dini Anggorowati3 1Agriculture; Faculty University of Tanjungpura2Agriculture; Faculty University of Tanjungpura3Agriculture; Faculty University of Tanjungpurae-mail*anggelina.lina888@gmail.com ABSTRAKSpring Onion (Allium fistulosum L) is one of prospective horticultural crops, which can be cultivated intensively in West Kalimantan. Alluvial soil is the soil type that can be used to cutivate this crop. However, this soil type should be enriched with organic compost, such as compost which was made of banana "Kepok" feel, in order to improve the soil structure, which then can help to increase the growth of onion spring. This treatment expected to make the soil structure be more optimum for the plant root development and growth. This research aimed to determine the best dosage of banana peel compost for the growth and yield of onion spring on alluvial soil. This research has been conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Tanjungpura University, from December 20th, 2017 to January 31st, 2018. This research has been designed in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment was set in 5 level doses of banana peel compost, with 5 replications, which were P0 = without compost, P1= 250 g compost/polybag or equal to 10 ton compost/ha, P2 = 375 g compost/polybag or equal to 15 tons/ha, P3 = 500g compost/polybag or equivalent 20 tons/ha, and P4 = 625 g compost/polybag or equivalent to 25 tons/ha. The observed variables in this study were plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, root volume and fresh weight of the plant. The results showed that application of banana peel compost on alluvial soil showed good response significantly to the plant height variable, but showed an average good response to the other observed variables of leaf numbers, number of seedlings, root volumes and fresh weight of the plant. Keywords: Alluvial, Banana peel, Compost, Spring Onion

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the composition of alluvial soil and oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) compost that provides the best growth of pepper cuttings. This research was conducted in Parit Demang village, South Pontianak. This study start from February 25th, 2018 to May 25th, 2018. This study used an experimental method with a Complete Randomized Design pattern (CRD) it"™s a dose of OPEFB compost with 4 levels treatment, each treatment consists of 6 replication and consisting of 10 sample plants. The first treatment alluvial soil composition : OPEFB compost (1:0), second treatment alluvial soil composition : OPEFB (1:1), third treatment alluvial soil composition : OPFB compost (1:2) and fourth treatment alluvial soil composition : OPEFB compost (1:3). Variables observed is: percentage of live seed (%), shoots length (cm), number of shoots per plants (unit), number of leaves (strand), roots volume (cm3), dry weight of shoots (gram) and dry weight of roots (gram). Based on the results of research on the composition of alluvial soil media: 1:2 OPEFB compost and alluvial soil media: 1:3 OPEFB compost gives the same good growth on pepper cuttings. The composition of alluvial soil media: 1:2 OPEFB compost is more effective because it does not require a lot of OPEFB compost so that it can be used in the pepper cutting nursery. Abstract

This study aims to find the best Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) retention time for baby cucumber"™s growth and yield on peat soil. The study is conducted on Sungai Selamat Street, Siantan Hilir, East Pontianak District, Pontianak City. The study period began from February 16th, 2019 until May 11th, 2019. The design used in this study is a field experiment method with a Randomized Block Design pattern consisting of 6 treatments, namely: m0 (without incubation of POME), m1 (2 weeks incubation of POME), m2 (3 weeks incubation of POME), m3 (4 weeks incubation of POME), m4 (5 weeks incubation of POME), and m5 (6 weeks incubation of POME), each treatment is repeated 4 times and each plot consists of 3 observation sample plants and 1 destructive observation sample plant. The results showed that the retention time of POME on peat soil could increase yields on baby cucumber plants, especially on variable number of fruits yielded of each plant, fruit"™s diameter, fruit"™s weight each plant, and the weight of each fruit. The retention time of POME for 5-6 weeks can increase the number of fruits, fruit"™s diameter, fruit"™s weight each plant, and the weight of each fruit. Keywords: baby cucumber, retention time, peat soil, POME.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction of planting media and the concentration of POC bean sprouts that provide the best growth of red betel cuttings. This research was carried out from February to May 2018 in the Maya Island sub-district of Kemboja village. The study used factorial experimental methods with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of two factors, namely planting media (m) POC bean sprouts (p). The media consists of two levels, namely (husk charcoal and manure soil), POC factor consists of 4 levels, namely (0%, 20%, 40%, and 60%), there are 8 combinations of treatments with 3 replications and each replication consists of 3 sample plants. The combination of treatments meant is m1p0, m1p1, m1p2, m1p3, m2p0, m2p1, m2p2, and m2p3. Observation variables observed were cut length (cm), number of leaves (strands), root volume (cm3), and shoot dry weight (g). The results showed that there was a significant interaction in root volume and dry weight, and gave the highest mean treatment (soil and manure + POC 40%), which was 2.63 cm3 for root volume and 1.56 g for shoot dry weight.Keyword : land, husk charcoal, manure, POC bean sprouts
