Abstract

Broiler has high productivity in chicken meat production. The higher the small intestine villi, much greater the effectiveness of the absorption of food extracts through the small intestine epithelium. Nutrients contained in ginger are curcuminoids, minerals, essential oils, fatty oils, carbohydrates, and proteins. This study aims to determine the differences in changes in the height of broiler jejunum villi due to the administration of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. In several doses in the feed. Samples of this study were 40 male broilers aged 14 days with an average weight of 420g simultaneously divided into 4 treatments consisting of 10 replications. P0 is broiler as a control without being given curcuma flour and only given feed. P1 is broiler which is given 10 g / kg of curcuma powder by mixing it into the feed. P2 is broiler which is given 20 g / kg of temulawak flour by mixing it into the feed. P3 is broiler which is given 30 g / kg of temulawak flour by mixing it into feed, on the day 35 broilers then necropsied and taken by jejunum organ. The results of the analysis showed that the treatment of P2 and P3 had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the control (P0), but P1 was significantly different (P<0.05) on P0, P2, and P3, in P2 treatment, was not significantly different (P>0.05) with P3. The conclusions of this study indicate that the administration of curcuma flour as much as 10 g / kg of feed, is able to increase the height of jejenal villi in broilers.

Abstract

The poultry industry in Samarinda faces high environmental temperatures with high air temperatures between 20 ° C-34 ° C with an average rainfall per 1980 mm, and the average humidity is 85%. High temperatures can trigger heat stress that can disrupt the broiler's growth, which affects weight loss, increase FCR (feed conversion ratio) value, and decrease IP value (Performance Index). This study aims to determine the effect of giving different doses of betaine through drinking water in improving broiler performance, including weight, FCR and IP. The sample of this study amounted to 1,200 7-day old female broilers and the results were analyzed with statistical analysis of Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with four treatments, the dose used is; P0 (0.0 g/L), P1 (0.5 g/L), P2 (1.0 g/L) dan P3 (2.0 g/L). The result of statistical analysis showed that the addition of betaine had a significant effect (P <0.05) for the best average weight gain on treatment P2 (1.0 g/L) 1.870 ± 0.009d, the best FCR value at treatment P2 (1.0 g/L) 1.500 ± 0.089a and the best IP value at treatment P2 (1.0 g/L) 368.333 ± 4.033d. Betaine could increase weight, optimize FCR and improve IP.

Abstract

Curcuma (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) is one of the medicinal plants, which is widely used by the community, including used a lot in animals because it has many benefits for health. The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of the addition of curcuma flour on the feed toward the activity of ALT and AST on the broiler. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 24 female broilers aged 14 days which were divided into four groups, namely group P0 (normal feed without addition of curcuma flour), P1 group (curcuma flour 10gr/kg of the feed)), P2 (curcuma flour 20gr/kg of the feed)), and P3 (curcuma flour 30gr/kg of the feed)). After 35 days, the blood is taken through the brachial vein using 5ml syringe. Then, the examination of ALT and AST activity is conducted by using Photometer 5010. The data were analyzed by using ANOVA. The results showed that the addition of curcuma flour in broiler's feed did not affect the activity of ALT and AST (P>0.05). From the study, it can be concluded that the addition of curcuma flour in broiler's feed the dose 10 gr/kg of feed until 30 gr/kg of feed for 21 days were still classified as safe dosage.

Abstract

For the evaluation of clinical tests in veterinary laboratories a reference basis of normal values ofclinically healthy farm animals is essential. It is well known that variables such as breed, age and sex havean influence on many blood parameters. The reference value of blood chemistry of bali cattle is scanty. Theaim of the current study was to evaluate blood chemistry of bali cattle includes alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), urea, creatinine and glucose, measured by an auto analyzer. These data were used to establish reference intervals in bali cattle of different ages and sex. Blood wascollected from 195 (21 young males, 54 adult males, 60 young females, and 60 adult females) clinicallyhealthy bali cattle by means of jugular venipuncture. Values from different age and sex were comparedstatistically. The results of the study was obtained that ALT and blood glucose significantly higher inmales Bali cattle (P <0.05) then in females. ALT, AST and urea were significantly higher in adults Balicattle (P<0.05) then in young Bali cattle. However, glucose of young Bali cattle was higher when comparedwith the adult. There was no significant difference in the creatinine levels between adults and the youngones. The results of the current study provide reference intervals for clinical chemistry of Bali cattle

Abstract

The variety of Gumboro live vaccine strains (hot, intermediate, and mild) are available inIndonesia. The immunosuppresive effect of these vaccines under field conditions is not known. This research was conducted to determine this devastating effect of such vaccine strains on theimmune response of chickens vaccinated againts Newcastle disease (ND). Sixty chickens werekept separately in five groups (i.e. V1, V2, V3, V4, and K). At the age of seven days, group V1, V2,and V3 were given hot, intermediate, and mild strains of Gumboro live vaccine respectively whilethe other two groups recieved no Gumboro vaccine (V4 and K). At the age of 14 days, all groups, except group K which were kept as a negative control, were vaccinated against ND. The level ofantibody produced in response to ND vaccination was measured in sera collected at day 0, 7, 14,and 21 post ND vaccination using a standard micro-haemaglutination inhibition test. Data of theantibody titers were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan’s multiple range test. The results showed that all Gumboro vaccine strains still retain its immunosuppressive nature onhumoral immune response in chickens that later vaccinated against ND. The geometric meantiter (GMT) of anti-NDV antibody of group V4 (unvaccinated againts Gumboro) was significantlyhigher than that of group V1, V2, and V3, i.e. groups of chickens that had been given varietystrains of Gumboro vaccines, at the first and second week after ND vaccination (p<0.05). Thedifference of this immunosuppressivenes among variety of Gumboro vaccine strains need furtherclarification.
