Abstract

Physical health and physical fitness have an important role in the world of sport, especially in the context of football clubs. The PS Sipangko football club in South Tapanuli Regency, which has a long history in the world of football, has unique challenges and opportunities in maintaining the physical health of its players. This study aims to measure and analyze the level of physical fitness of the 13 players of the PS Sipangko football club, South Tapanuli Regency and identify the factors that influence this level of fitness. The research method used was a survey and physical measurements involving club players. The data was analyzed statistically to evaluate the level of physical fitness and its relationship to performance on the field. The results showed that the level of physical fitness of players with an average physical fitness test score was 10.80 in the 14-17 interval with a percentage of 38.46%. Judging from the freshness level norms, the category is classified as Medium. These findings provide a deeper understanding of the importance of maintaining physical health in the world of football and highlight the need to pay attention to aspects of physical fitness in the development of football players.

Abstract

Sirih hitam (Piper Betle Var Nigra) merupakan tumbuhan yang memiliki banyak manfaat untuk kesehatan. Namun, pertumbuhan daun sirih hitam tergolong lambat dibandingkan dengan tanaman serupa di alam bebas, sehingga harga pasarannya cukup tinggi. Metode pembiakan dengan stek telah dilakukan, namun kendala utamanya adalah sulitnya mengontrol kondisi lingkungan agar sesuai dengan kebutuhan tanaman. Kegiatan  ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan pertanian modern dalam rumah kaca dengan sistem kontrol kondisi temperatur, kelembaban, dan intensitas cahaya secara otomatis. Hal ini diharapkan dapat mempercepat pertumbuhan sirih hitam dan menjaga kualitas zat aktifnya sebagai obat. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan membangun greenhouse semi permanen di Desa Triyagan, Sukoharjo, serta membuat 3 sistem kontrol untuk mengontrol intensitas cahaya buatan, suhu dan kelembaban ruangan, serta kelembaban tanah. Sistem irigasi yang digunakan adalah sistem spray karena jenis akar sirih merupakan akar merambat di permukaan tanah. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan sistem budidaya modern dalam greenhouse dan pelatihan pembiakan sirih hitam dengan sistem stek terarah dan cangkok, mempercepat pertumbuhan sirih hitam dan menjaga kandungan zat aktifnya. Selain itu, pelatihan pemasaran bibit ke marketplace mampu menambah pendapatan bagi mitra. Selain itu, kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan budidaya sirih hitam yang efisien dan berkelanjutan, serta memperluas wawasan masyarakat tentang pertanian modern.

Abstract

The study was conducted in the home garden of Tanen hamlet in Ngargoyoso, Karanganyar, Central Java, Indonesia, which is situated at an elevation of 772 meters above sea level. The existence of Sukuh Temple near Tanen with Keris reliefs shows Keris culture in this region since ancient times. This study aims to identify plant species in the Tanen home garden suitable for Keris culture and understand their potential roles in Keris culture. Sampling was carried out using the cruising method, following the village road. Data on the plants on-site were collected through surveys conducted in the home garden. The plant species were classified with the assistance of The Mountain Flora of Java and www.theplantlist.com. The plants found were determined to be related to the Keris culture. The data were qualitatively analyzed to determine the role of each plant species in Keris culture and quantitatively assessed using the species richness index. The home garden in Tanen comprises a variety of species, with a species richness of 26 belonging to 19 families. Herbs make up 38% of the plant habitus in Tanen's home garden, which also has shrubs (31%), trees (23%), and bushes (8%). The most commonly used plant organs are leaves (24%) and flowers (24%). The potency of plants in the Tanen home garden for Keris culture is: for the name of the plant called in the blade of the Keris; for warangka (sheath) and deder (hilt); for equipment in Keris making; for cleansing agents; for fragrances (fragrant agents); and offering (food ingredients, spices). The primary potential use of plants in Tanen's home garden is for offering.

Abstract

Dalam aspek kehidupan manusia hampir semua sudah dipengaruhi dan tidak bisa terlepas dari perkembangan digital. Salah satunya adalah dalam hal pembelajaran bahasa Arab. Pembelajaran bahasa Arab di era digital mengalami transformasi yang signifikan berkat kemajuan teknologi. Penelitian ini membahas peluang dan tantangan yang ditawarkan oleh teknologi digital dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbahasa Arab, seperti akses ke sumber belajar yang lebih luas dan metode pembelajaran interaktif. Namun, tantangan seperti kesiapan guru dan infrastruktur yang tidak memadai juga dihadapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi literatur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, menunjukkan bahwa meskipun teknologi memberikan banyak manfaat, perhatian terhadap tantangan yang ada sangat penting untuk mencapai hasil pembelajaran yang efektif dan efesien.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pragmatic elements present in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) textbooks used in senior high schools in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Specifically, it examines the coverage of speech acts, metapragmatic strategies, and contextual variables in two widely used textbooks: Buku Sarana Elektronik (BSE) and Pathway to English, for grades X, XI, and XII. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with document analysis techniques, drawing data from the textbooks and interviews with English teachers in Pekanbaru. The findings reveal that the coverage of speech acts in both textbooks is incomplete, with an overemphasis on directives such as commands, requests, and suggestions. These speech acts, often face-threatening, require higher pragmatic competence from learners, which the textbooks do not adequately support. Additionally, metapragmatic information provided in the textbooks is limited and focuses more on pragmalinguistics than sociopragmatic factors, leaving students underprepared for real-life communication where social norms and contextual variables such as power dynamics play a crucial role. The textbooks also lack diversity in contextual variables, with most dialogues featuring interactions between individuals of equal power and little social distance, reducing learners’ exposure to various social roles and communication contexts. The study concludes that both BSE and Pathway to English fail to provide sufficient pragmatic content and suggests that future textbook design should include a broader range of speech acts, metapragmatic strategies, and diverse social contexts to better develop learners' pragmatic competence. The findings have significant implications for improving the effectiveness of teaching materials in Indonesian EFL classrooms.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the understanding of English-borrowing words among fifth-semester students at Universitas Islam Riau, Pekanbaru. The methodology employed involved a test consisting of 30 questions, categorized into three types: 10 questions each for loanwords, blend words, and loan shifts. A total of 50 students from the fifth semester of English language in the academic year 2023/2024 participated in the study, providing insights into their vocabulary comprehension. The findings revealed that the term "active" achieved the highest percentage of correct answers at 90%, indicating strong familiarity among students. Conversely, the term "terror" recorded the lowest recognition rate at 64%, suggesting challenges in understanding its complex connotations. Other terms, including "program" (80%) and "application," "technique," "quality," and "information" (76%), demonstrated moderate performance levels, highlighting gaps in comprehension that warrant further attention. The novelty of this research lies in its focused examination of various types of loan-blended words and their specific performance levels among Indonesian learners. This study not only contributes to the existing literature on vocabulary acquisition but also emphasizes the importance of targeted instructional strategies to enhance students' proficiency in recognizing and using loan-blended words effectively. By addressing identified gaps through engaging teaching methods, educators can facilitate improved vocabulary acquisition and overall language skills among students, thereby enriching their educational experience in an increasingly globalized linguistic landscape

Abstract

Genetic material is classified as material that is difficult for students to understand because the material is abstract, there are many foreign terms, and there are many complex molecular reactions, so students have difficulty developing critical thinking skills. Therefore, developing a good, suitable, effective, and attractive media is necessary. . This study aims to develop an e-module on the topic of genetic substance, to test the feasibility of the e-module, and to determine the differences in critical thinking skills before and after the implementation of the e-module. This type of research is research and development research with a 4D Thiagarajan model consisting of define, design, development,and disseminate. . This research was conducted without the dissemination stage. The results of the validation of media experts are 81.7% (fair enough) and material experts are 85.5% (very feasible). The results of the trial were limited to 10 students, namely 92.1% (very decent) and 80.4% biology teachers (quite decent). The results of field trials are 90.2% (very feasible). The results of the t-test indicate that there are differences in critical thinking skills before and after the implementation of the e-module. This study implicate that e-modules on the topic of genetic substances are feasible to use and to empower students’s critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris merupakan keterampilan yang penting dalam dunia akademik dan profesional. Ujian Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) digunakan sebagai tolak ukur kemampuan berbahasa Inggris. Namun, banyak siswa yang menghadapi kesulitan dalam memahami format dan strategi menjawab soal TOEFL. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas pelatihan TOEFL yang dilakukan di SMA Cendana Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa dalam menghadapi TOEFL melalui pelatihan yang mencakup Listening, Structure and Written Expression, serta Reading Comprehension. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi pre-test, pembelajaran strategi, latihan soal, simulasi TOEFL, dan post-test. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rata-rata skor TOEFL siswa sebesar 95 poin, dengan peningkatan terbesar pada aspek Structure and Written Expression. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan TOEFL berbasis strategi dan latihan intensif dapat membantu meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam memahami dan menjawab soal dengan lebih efektif. Oleh karena itu, program pelatihan ini direkomendasikan untuk dilakukan secara berkelanjutan di sekolah-sekolah untuk meningkatkan kesiapan siswa dalam menghadapi ujian TOEFL.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan konsep pragmatik sebagai dasar pembelajaran kesopanan berbahasa Inggris bagi peserta didik kelas EFL (English as a Foreign Language) di SMA Imam Syafi’i 2 Pekanbaru. Latar belakang kegiatan ini adalah pentingnya kemampuan berkomunikasi yang tidak hanya mengacu pada tata bahasa dan kosakata, tetapi juga pada pemahaman konteks sosial-budaya agar tercipta interaksi yang sopan dan efektif. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi workshop interaktif, simulasi percakapan, dan diskusi kelompok, yang dirancang untuk menanamkan prinsip-prinsip tindak tutur (speech acts), strategi kesantunan (politeness strategies), dan pemahaman konteks ujaran dalam bahasa Inggris. Peserta terdiri atas 20 siswa kelas XI program bahasa, dengan keterlibatan aktif guru bahasa Inggris sebagai pendamping. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan kesadaran pragmatik siswa, terlihat dari kemampuan mereka menyesuaikan pilihan kata dan ekspresi sesuai situasi, serta meningkatnya sikap positif terhadap pentingnya kesopanan dalam komunikasi lintas budaya. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi model pembelajaran yang dapat diadaptasi di sekolah lain guna mengintegrasikan pendidikan karakter dan kecakapan komunikasi global dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

The study aims to identify the argumentation profile of high school students in learning in the covid-19 era. This research is quantitative descriptive with a survey method. The research population was 172 students, with a sample of 72 students. Determination of the sample using cluster random sampling technique has a balanced quality from the results of the paired F test. The research procedure was carried out by collecting data on student answers from argumentative essay questions distributed via a google form. Argumentative questions based on TAP contain six components, namely Evidence (E), Warrant (W), Backing (B), Qualifier (Q), Rebuttal (R), and Claim (C). The argumentation scoring rubric is calculated based on the Patton-Pickle rule. Data analysis was carried out by interpreting the scores obtained by students on each argumentation component that showed the argumentation profile. Most of the students' argumentation profiles, according to their components, are in the very low category scores, namely 0.5 and 1. A score of 0.5 is obtained by comparing the percentages of students: E: E: W: W: B: Q: R: C: C: C by 23.61%: 1.39%: 0.00%: 52.78%: 45.83%: 83.33 %: 4.17%: 2.78%: 2.78%: 0.00% while the score of 1 is 41.67%: 55.56%: 83.33%: 47.22%: 54.17%: 8.33%: 75.00%: 83.33%: 79.17%: 98 ,61%. Scores were obtained due to various factors, including the learning process that was less meaningful, students' understanding and reasoning of the material was not in-depth, the generalization process of evidence or theory was not appropriate.
