Abstract

The implementation of science practicums in junior high schools should support meaningful learning. However, in reality, they are often considered merely a supplement to theory. This study aims to compare the perceptions of students and teachers regarding the meaningfulness of science practicums in junior high schools in Pontianak City. The research was conducted using a survey method with a closed-ended questionnaire, the Meaningful Learning in the Laboratory Instrument (MLLI), which had been modified for use at the junior high school level. There were four indicators in accordance with the MLLI, namely motivation, critical thinking, procedural skills, and the benefits of practical work. Samples were randomly selected from 12 junior high schools that granted permission for the research. The results showed that students rated the meaningfulness of practical work at an average of 74% (in the high category), while teachers rated the meaningfulness of practical work at an average of 79% (in the very high category). The indicator of practical benefits received the highest score, while the indicators of critical thinking and skills were still low. These findings suggest that practical work has provided valuable learning experiences, but requires optimization through a more intensive inquiry and guidance approach to further develop students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence in English language teaching faces implementation challenges despite documented benefits, particularly in resource-limited Indonesian contexts where teachers' digital competence significantly influences adoption. This community service program addressed these gaps through comprehensive technology integration training focused on Google AI Studio for pronunciation instruction at SMPN 1 Jongkat, Mempawah Regency. The program employed a participatory approach combining needs analysis, hands-on training, collaborative workshops, and systematic evaluation involving 19 teachers. Post-training surveys using 5-point Likert scales assessed confidence levels across multiple dimensions of AI-assisted pronunciation instruction. Results demonstrated consistently high confidence levels across most dimensions, with means ranging from 4.26 to 4.74, particularly in using AI-generated speech for listening input and designing speaking activities. However, teachers showed notably lower confidence in self-assessment applications, revealing hesitation in comparing their own pronunciation with AI-generated models. The majority of participants prioritized ease of material development as the primary advantage. Analysis through the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge framework indicated successful development of integrated technical and pedagogical competence, though limited articulation of specific implementation strategies suggests need for ongoing professional support. The training successfully established foundational confidence for AI integration while identifying areas requiring continued development to ensure sustainable implementation.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is still not utilized optimally, which has an impact on the low achievement of student learning outcomes. This research aims to develop google sites-based learning media on business opportunity materials and test its feasibility and effectiveness. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which was carried out at the State Vocational School 1 Kuala Mandor B, Kubu Raya Regency, with 23 students in grade XI. The research instruments included expert validation sheets and multiple-choice questions. Data analysis was carried out through the calculation of eligibility percentage, normality test, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain. The results showed that the media was in the very feasible category with an assessment percentage of 88.21% from media experts and 88.89% from material experts. There was a significant increase in learning outcomes (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05) with the average score increasing from 55.87 to 86.09. The N-Gain value of 0.7112 was in the high category, which indicates that the media is effective in improving student learning outcomes. Theoretically, this study supports the application of the ADDIE model in the development of google sites-based media. Practically, media can be used as an interactive learning alternative to improve the quality of learning in vocational education.
