Abstract

This study aims to find out the effectiveness of teacher professional learning (PL) as an effort to increase English language teaching quality in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It used descriptive qualitative and quantitative case study approach to find about the continuous learning and development activities. Data were derived from questionnaire, observation, and semi-structured interviews. The results revealed that in-service training program is considered effective for sharing knowledge, skills and information among English language teachers. The findings also revealed that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) should be learned in-depth during professional learning activities. In addition, the respondents perceived Subject Teacher’s Meeting or teacher study groups as an effective collaborative model of professional learning activities. This study suggests that the need to involve English language teachers in a training at least once a year as an effort to help them gain new insight and experience in the acquisition of new knowledge and skills and to experience in solving problems both at school and outside school.

Abstract

Purpose – In March 2023, Master of English Education, Universitas Terbuka initiated a program of community service to improve the English teachers’ competencies This program is carried out to guide the English teachers who teach at junior high schools in Kota Depok to improve their competence and students’ achievements, as well as efforts to create a generation that has good competitiveness. Design/methodology/approach – The method used in this community service includes three stages of interrelated activities to ensure maximum achievement of results, namely: (1) needs assessment and communication regarding partners' willingness to participate in training; (2) delivering material using lecture and question and answer methods; (3) carry out practice according to the material provided. Findings – The outcome of this program is demonstrated by the improvement of teachers in creating test items, switching from questions based on text to questions of higher-order thinking skills questions. Originality/value – One element mentioned by the Supervisor of English teachers and the Head of Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) for English subjects is the implementation of assessment. This program provides English teachers with some new knowledge, insights and perspectives about assessment in English language learning.

Abstract

The Covid -19 Pandemic obligates the education activities to change from face-to-face to fully online activities as the safest and the best options to stop the spread of the virus. Due to the suddent shift from traditional classrooms activities to totally online learning activities, some researches pointed out that students’ motivation for online learning is influenced either intrinsically or extrinsically. This study aims to find out students’ views of online learning and how their learning motivation affects their involvement in English online learning. A Mixed Method Research (MMR) was conducted, employing questionnaire (n=60) and semi-structured interviews (n=6) as the research tools. The quantitative data from the questionnaire were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), while the qualitative data from the interview were analysed employing thematic analysis. The results showed that students overall felt online learning created some obstacles due to unstable internet access and the students didn't interact with their teachers or peers enough. The study also found some advantages of online learning for students, such as more meaningful learning experiences using digital platforms and the opportunity to gain technological knowledge and skills. The study suggests the need for teachers to provide sufficient feedback to students in relation to their task and/or process of learning.

Abstract

Teachers' self-efficacy in instructional strategy has been indicated for its crucial role and function and its profound implications on teaching practices and student outcomes. This study aims to illuminate the intricate relationship between teachers' self-efficacy and their utilization of instructional strategies. Drawing upon Bandura's theory of self-efficacy, mixed-method research with convergent parallel design was employed to explore the perceptions and experiences of Indonesian EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teachers regarding their confidence in employing diverse instructional techniques within the classroom context. The data were collected through a questionnaire completed by 36 EFL teachers and semi-structured interviews involving six teachers. The results show that self-efficacy is pivotal in shaping instructional practices and highlight the need for targeted support and professional development initiatives to enhance teachers' confidence and competence in effectively employing varied instructional strategies. The results also show that learning facilities, time constraints, and curriculum change posed significant barriers to adopting certain strategies. This research contributes valuable insights to the field of EFL education, offering practical implications for teacher training programs and curriculum development efforts to optimize classroom dynamics and foster positive learning outcomes for students

Abstract

Seiring dengan zaman yang serba modern ini, banyak dijumpai nyinyiran, hinaan,cacian, serta makian beredar di mana-mana khususnya di media sosial. Padahalkonsekuensi dari perbuatan itu akan didapati konflik panjang antara pelaku dan korban.Bahkan ghibah yang sudah jelas-jelas dilarang agama, malah sudah menjadi tradisipameran di media sosial. Bangsa kita sudah tidak asing lagi dengan adanya ghibahyang beredar di media sosial. Mulai meng-ghibahkan tokoh politik, tokoh ekonomi,bahkan tokoh agama sekalipun. Fenomena seperti itu membuat para pendukung korbansemakin membenci pelaku dan klimaks pun tak bisa dihindari. Hingga akhirnyamuncul perpecahan sesama saudara. Hal tersebut terjadi akibat kurang cerdasnyaseseorang dalam menggunakan media sosial. Bahaya ghibah secara langsung sudahtermaktub dalam al-Quran surat al-Hujurat ayat 12 Allah berfirman: “Wahai orangorang yang beriman! Jauhilah banyak dari prasangka, sesungguhnya sebagianprasangka itu dosa dan janganlah kamu mencaricari kesalahan orang lain dan janganlahada di antara kamu yang menggunjing sebagian yang lain. Apakah ada di antara kamuyang suka memakan daging saudaranya yang sudah mati? Tentu kamu merasa jijik.Dan bertakwalah kepada Allah, sesungguhnya Allah Maha Penerima tobat, MahaPenyayang.” Adapun, pelaksanaan kegiatan terbagi dari beberapa kategorisasi seperti:1. Tahap Pra Pelaksanaan: a. bahwa tim pengabdi men-survey lokasi ke DesaPedeslohor, Kecamatan Adiwerna, Kabupaten Tegal guna berdiskusi perihal jadwal,peserta dan tema. b. bahwa tim pengabdi, mempersiapakan peralatan dan perlengkapanseperti laptop, spidol, dan papan tulis/kertas besar, proyektor dan plakat penghargaankepada tuan rumah serta konsumsi untuk seluruh peserta dan pihak terkait. c. bahwatim menghitung dan merencanakan anggaran belanja termasuk modal awal, post biayaoperasional dan biaya lain yang dianggap perlu. 2. Tahap Pelaksanaan: bahwa timpengadbi akan menggunakan metode ceramah, metode tanya-jawab interaktif danmenggunakan metode role playing; 3. Tahap Paska Pelaksanaan: bahwa tim akanmembuat laporan akhir kepada tiga pihak yakni: Desa Pedeslohor, tim pengabdi danpihak Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat.Kata Kunci : Media Sosial, Manfaat, Mudarat

Abstract

Keberadaan merek sangat penting untuk pelaku UMKM. Merek berfungsi sebagai identitas sebuah produk barang atau jasa. Lebih jauh lagi, merek juga dapat dilisensikan atau waralaba sehingga menjadi sumber penghasilan langsung berupa royalti. Merek juga dapat menjadi aset bisnis yang sangat berharga dan menambah pendapatan, karena merek itu sendiri memiliki nilai ekonomis yang berbanding lurus dengan reputasi yang telah dibangun, Dengan melihat pada manfaat-manfaat sebagaimana disebutkan di atas, sudah sepatutnya setiap merek yang melekat pada barang/jasa didaftarkan. Namun, rendahnya pemahaman dan minimnya edukasi mengenai pendaftaran merek bagi masyarakat menjadi masalah utama yang menyebabkan masyarakat enggan melakukan pendaftaran merek. Padahal, legalitas dapat membuat bisnis lebih berkembang dan terhindar dari sengketa yang merugikan. Bahkan seringkali pelindungan terhadap kekayaan intelektual, khususnya merek, baru diurus setelah produk atau usaha yang dijalankan telah sukses atau menjadi terkenal. Prinsip tersebut tidak tepat karena berpotensi mengakibatkan nama, logo, atau produk yang dimiliki ditiru oleh orang lain dan menyebabkan bisnis kehilangan identitasnya. Solusi untuk mengatasi rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat untuk mendaftarkan mereknya adalah dengan melakukan sosialisasi hukum yang melibatkan seluruh pemangku kepentingan dari mulai pemerintah, akademisi, penyedia layanan hukum, hingga masyarakat itu sendiri. Melalui keterlibatan berbagai pihak maka penyelesaian masalah hukum dapat teratasi. Dalam kesempatan ini, dilaksanakan kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) di Aula Kantor Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan, Kabupaten Karawang. Tema yang diangkat adalah Sosialisasi Pendaftaran Merek bagi Pelaku UMKM. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan memberikan pemahaman mengenai pentingnya pendaftaran merek dan tata cara pendaftaran merek secara online. Tidak hanya mengangkat pendaftaran merek dari segi teknis, narasumber juga akan memaparkan mengenai merek yang tidak dapat didaftar dan merek yang ditolak, agar peserta memiliki pemahaman mengenai pendaftaran merek dari sisi substantif, sehingga mengurangi kemungkinan merek yang diajukan mengalami penolakan ataupun tidak dapat didaftar. Target peserta adalah pelaku usaha UMKM di wilayah Kabupaten Karawang. Dalam hal ini, dilakukan kerja sama dengan Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan, dan Koperasi dan UKM setempat agar didapat target peserta yang sesuai.

Abstract

The agrarian conflicts on government-owned land on the outskirts of Irigasi St., Sungai Paring, Martapura, involve many parties. At least three parties were involved in this conflict: small traders, landowners, and the Banjar Regency government. This research describes the background, resolution, and impact of conflicts between landowners and small traders. This research uses qualitative methods, which are described descriptively. The research results show that the conflict started with landowners who felt disturbed by the establishment of small traders’ stalls that covered fish ponds and sports fields. Apart from that, this land is used as a residence, producing household waste, which causes an unpleasant odor. The conflict resolution is carried out outside the court (non-litigation) by negotiating between land owners and small traders who do not find an agreement so that it continues through conciliation. The small trader asked for help from a lawyer for the defense, saying that the warning letter given by the Banjar Regency’s civil service police unit was not following the applicable laws and regulations. Given the case, there are positive and negative impacts. The positive impact is to build public awareness that government-owned land should not be misused for personal interests. Meanwhile, the negative impact of social relations between landlords, small traders, and stall owners becomes less good.

Abstract

The lack of teaching materials for Pencak Silat and several movements in the Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) textbook is needed by teachers. This research aims to produce a Student Worksheet (LKPD) for PJOK Pencak Silat based on QR codes for 7th-grade students and assist PJOK teachers in facilitating PJOK learning, specifically in Pencak Silat. The method used in this research is Research and Development, using the Borg and Gall method. The subjects of this study were 7th-grade students in junior high school. The research instruments used were media assessment, material assessment, and teacher assessment. Based on the results of the assessment of the QR code-based LKPD for PJOK Pencak Silat by media experts, subject experts, and PJOK teachers, it obtained feasibility values of 89.3%, 80%, and 83.3% with the criteria of Very Feasible, Feasible, and Very Feasible, with an average assessment of 84.2%. Based on the description, it can be concluded that the QR code-based LKPD for PJOK Pencak Silat developed by the researchers is highly feasible to use. The researcher also tested the reliability of the Pencak Silat LKPD instrument using the K-R 20 formula and obtained a result of r11 0.864, which is greater than the r-table value of 0.234. This research resulted in a QR code-based LKPD for PJOK Pencak Silat that is suitable for use and can help PJOK teachers facilitate PJOK learning, particularly in the Pencak Silat subject.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the accuracy of forehand push in extracurricular table tennis at SDN Cibatu Nagrak. The method used in this research uses quantitative methods with Nonequivalent control group design. The research population of table tennis extracurricular members at SDN Cibatu Nagrak, totaling 12 people. Samples taken 12 people with saturated sampling techniques, namely techniques where all members of the population are sampled. The instruments used are (1) training program, (2) forehand push accuracy test. Based on the results of data analysis conducted, that in this study has a significant effect, seen from the paired sample t test obtained multiball significance value of 0.000 with a significance level <0.05, and obtained from shadow significance with a significance level <0.05, it can be concluded in this study that there is an effect of training using multiball and shadow on the accuracy of forehand push on extracurricular table tennis at SDN Cibatu Nagrak, and multiball training is better than shadow because the percentage increase of multiball is 15.56% while shadow is 12.79%.

Abstract

Senam Bugar Muhamamdiyah Socialization and Training is a training and outreach activity regarding Senam Bugar Muhamamdiyah which can be used as one of the physical activities to improve the degree of physical fitness of students in Muhammadiyah schools and the Muhammadiyah community. This fitness exercise involves all ages and has irreversible movements, so it can be done together. The activity locations were in several Muhammadiyah schools, namely MI Muhammadiyah Cipetir with 287 students and 14 teachers, MTs Muhammadiyah Cipoho 27 students, SMA Muhammadiyah Sukabumi City with 37 students and in Kp. Cigrass Ds. Sela Awi kec. There were 40 people in Sukaraja, Sukabumi Regency, bringing the total activity participants to 405 participants. Activities carried out for 6 months with meetings once a week. Schedule of activities attached. The achievement of the success of the training was 65% of the participants had memorized the Muhamamdoyah fitness movement and the rest had not memorized it well. We can say that the activity went quite well. There were several factors that hindered the implementation of socialization and training including limited time at school which was cut short by the Ramadan holidays and Eid al-Fitr holidays so that it had quite an effect on the results of the Senam Bugar Muhamamdiyah training because participants were cut off for training and when the exercises started again, the participants forgot again with the movements so they had to start over from the beginning in providing training, the characteristics of students who were still difficult to instruct and students' interest in gymnastic activities were still lacking. However, the supporting factors include adequate facilities and infrastructure, teacher participation, and conducive school support.
