Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) using loose-part media in early childhood education at RA Umi Sundari, a private ECE institution in Indonesia. PjBL is recognized for promoting active, meaningful learning by engaging children in real-world projects that integrate exploration, problem-solving, and collaboration. Despite its growing adoption, the integration of PjBL with loose-part media—flexible, open-ended materials such as stones, bottle caps, or sticks—remains under-researched, especially in the context of private early childhood settings. Employing a qualitative descriptive method and an intrinsic case study design, this research investigates how PjBL with loose parts supports the cognitive, motor, and social development of young children. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal that loose-part-based PjBL fosters creativity, independence, and critical thinking while enhancing children’s enthusiasm for learning. Teachers played a crucial role as facilitators, guiding exploration through open-ended questions, emotional support, and structured reflection. The study also identifies several challenges, including uneven teacher preparedness, limited material availability, and time constraints for project planning. While the learning outcomes were positive, the research was limited to a single institution and a short timeframe. Therefore, future studies should explore broader applications, long-term impacts, and potential integration with digital tools. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on early childhood pedagogical innovation by offering a contextually relevant model for enhancing child development through PjBL and loose-part integration.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the importance of ethical science in early childhood education (PAUD), with a focus on the role of ethics teachers towards themselves and students. The scientific ethics possessed by a teacher influences the way they manage interactions with students and the way they maintain professionalism in them. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method involving observation, interviews and document analysis as data collection techniques. The research sample consists of a number of teachers in several PAUD institutions who are expected to provide a comprehensive picture of the application of ethics in early childhood education. The research results show that teachers' ethics towards themselves include personal responsibility in maintaining integrity, quality and professionalism, such as maintaining morality, developing professional competence, and showing attitudes that can be emulated by students. Meanwhile, teacher ethics towards students has proven to be important in creating a learning environment that is safe, inclusive, and supports children's holistic development, including honesty, respect, and fair treatment of each child. This research also found that awareness and application of strong scientific ethics among teachers will have a positive impact on the quality of PAUD education, improve relationships between teachers and students, and support the achievement of better educational goals. The implication of this research is the need to increase ethics training for PAUD teachers as part of professional development, as well as the need for more attention to the formation of teacher character based on ethical knowledge, to create a quality and sustainable education system.

Abstract

The academic readiness of PAUD teachersis an important indicator in determining their success in participating in the Teacher Professional Education (PPG). The problem that arises is the lack of comprehensive mapping regarding the level of academic readiness of PAUD teachers, particularly in the context of implementing the PPG tryout. This study aims to analyse the academic readiness of PPG PAUD participants in 2025 based on the results of a tryout participated in by 388 respondents from various regions in Indonesia. The study population consisted of all PAUD teachers who participated in the PPG UM 2025 tryout, with a sample of 388 individuals selected through total sampling. The research method employed was a descriptive, quantitative approach with frequency distribution analysis techniques. The results showed that 76 respondents (19.59%) were in the low readiness category, 256 respondents (65.98%) in the medium category, and 56 respondents (14.43%) in the high category. These findings indicate that the majority of teachers are still at the medium level of readiness, which means the a need for further academic intervention strategies. Therefore, it is recommended that institutions that organize PPG PAUD strengthen their academic provision programs, especially in the form of clinical questions, structured tutoring, and improving pedagogical and professional competencies to support a better transition towards PPG.
