Abstract

AbstractProof-based learning is learning mathematics through proof and proving to strengthen students' concepts. The use of APOS theory (Action, Process, Object, and Schema) aims to describe students' mental structures summarized in Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT). Their interest in learning mathematics requires students to have reasoning ability. This study aims to produce a mini theory of proof-based learning using the APOS theory approach about mental structure and mental mechanisms. The role of learning is to improve students' reasoning ability. The research method used is the design research validation type. The research subjects were 34 students from SMA Negeri 1 Palembang. For this reason, this study will discuss the construction of HLT which will become a mini theory. In this paper, the researcher will focus on the first lesson’s HLT proof-based learning using APOS theory approach. This study's results are to compare HLT and ALT, develop proof learning, and test the truth of the hypotheses made based on the research methodology.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menghasilkan soal matematika tipe TIMSS pada materi bilangan dengan menggunakan konteks paket wisata alam Danau Ranau dan Gunung Dempo yang valid dan praktis, serta untuk melihat potensi pengaruh soal yang dihasilkan terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis, minat, dan ketertarikan siswa dalam mengerjakan soal. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VII.7 SMP Negeri 55 Palembang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian desain dengan jenis penelitian pengembangan yang terdiri dari evaluasi (metode) pendahuluan dan evaluasi formatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu menghasilkan soal matematika tipe TIMSS pada materi bilangan dengan menggunakan konteks paket wisata alam Danau Ranau dan Gunung Dempo yang valid dan praktis, serta berpotensi berpengaruh terhadap kompetensi penalaran matematis siswa, seperti menganalisis, mengintegrasikan, membuat kesimpulan, dan memberi alasan. Selain itu, berpotensi berpengaruh terhadap minat dan keseriusan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika tipe TIMSS pada materi bilangan menggunakan konteks paket wisata alam Danau Ranau dan Gunung Dempo.

Abstract

Kompetensi pemodelan matematika membantu siswa dalam menghadapi tantangan di kehidupan sehari-hari dan mempelajari konsep matematika. Namun, rata-rata persepsi siswa mengenai matematika sangat dangkal. Siswa beranggapan bahwa matematika hanyalah sekumpulan rumus yang tidak memiliki hubungan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kompetensi pemodelan matematika siswa kelas IX menggunakan LKS praktikum berbasis pemodelan matematika pada materi luas permukaan dan volume tabung. Adapun jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian yang terdiri dari 19 siswa kelas IX. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan diantaranya soal tes kompetensi pemodelan matematika dalam bentuk uraian dan wawancara semi-struktur. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian diperoleh potret kompetensi pemodelan matematika siswa kelas IX menggunakan LKS praktikum berbasis pemodelan matematika pada pada materi luas permukaan dan volume tabung terkategori baik dengan rata-rata 65,48. Proses pembelajaran menggunakan LKS praktikum berbasis pemodelan matematika membantu siswa untuk melakukan tahapan pemodelan matematika secara tepat serta melakukan pengaplikasiannya ke dalam situasi dunia nyata.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar pemodelan matematika yang valid, praktis, serta memiliki efek potensial terhadap persepsi matematis peserta didik. Bahan ajar yang dikembangkan pada penelitian ini berupa LKPD dimana konteks yang digunakan adalah konteks evakuasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). Teknik pengumpulan data terdiri atas walkthrough, angket, observasi dan wawancara. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri 3 Prabumulih. Kevalidan bahan ajar dilihat berdasarkan hasil pada tahap expert review serta one to one. Bahan ajar dinyatakan valid pada tahap expert review dari aspek konstruk, konten serta bahasa. Persentase rata-rata kevalidan sebesar 79,3% yang terkategori valid. Selain itu, bahan ajar dinyatakan valid berdasarkan kejelasan serta keterbacaan peserta didik pada tahap one to one. Bahan ajar dinyatakan praktis berdasarkan hasil pada tahap small group dan field test. Bahan ajar dinyatakan memiliki efek potensial terhadap persepsi matematis peserta didik berdasarkan data angket pada tahap field test. Efek potensial yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah kategori amat baik 87% dan kategori baik 17%. Abstract

Mathematical concepts sometimes arise naturally through the culture of a particular community. Mathematics with cultural nuances (ethnomathematics) will contribute greatly to learning mathematics. Ethnomathematics can be used to make it easier for students to learn through a cultural approach. This research aims to: 1) Find out what mathematical concepts are found in the Purun craft of Geronggang Island.  2) Find out what philosophical values are present in the Purun craft of Geronggang Island.  3) Find out how junior high school mathematics learning can be implemented within the context of ethnomathematics in the Purun craft of Geronggang Island. In research data collection, researchers are directly involved in the data collection process through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data was analyzed by carrying out data reduction, data presentation, and data exploration. Variants of shapes and types of Geronggang Island purun crafts contain several aspects of mathematics on geometric material.

Abstract

Dukungan guru dalam pembelajaran terhadap pemahaman bahasa matematika oleh siswa dapat membantu siswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir logis, analitis, dan kritis. Namun, guru masih kurang dalam menggunakan bahasa matematika pada proses pembelajaran. Hal ini berkaitan dengan masih minimnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru terhadap penggunaan bahasa matematika dalam pembelajaran. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) pada kegiatan ini memiliki tujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru matematika Yayasan Maitreyawira dalam merancang strategi pembelajaran matematika melalui penggunaan bahasa matematika. Kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan dalam 3 level kompetensi, yaitu level 1 tentang pengertian bahasa matematika yang dari fenomena yang ada di sekitar; level 2 berkenaan dengan strategi pembelajaran menggunakan bahasa matematika; level 3 mengimplementasikan strategi pembelajaran yang dirancang guru ke dalam kelas simulasi. Pencapaian 3 level kompetensi ini dilakukan secara berjenjang. Metode pelatihan meliputi Focus Group Discussion (FGD), proyek, presentasi, dan implementasi pengajaran pemodelan matematika secara simulai. Tiga puluh guru matematika dari guru SD sampai guru SMA, dari Yayasan Cahaya Maitreyawira Palembang, mengikuti kegiatan yang dilaksanakan secara hybrid. Data dikumpulkan melalui pemberian angket yang bertujuan untuk melihat kepuasan peserta pelatihan dan dokumen hasil kerja guru untuk melihat kemampuan guru dalam merancang strategi pembelajaran matematika. Pelaksanaan pelatihan telah berjalan dengan baik. Respons peserta menunjukkan kepuasan terhadap pelatihan yang diberikan dan hasil pelatihan menunjukkan guru mampu merancang startegi pembelajaran matematika di topik bilangan pecahan melalui penggunaan bahasa matematika dengan baik. Peserta pelatihan mampu mengimplementasikan strategi pembelajaran pada topik pecahan yang dirancang kepada siswa di dalam kelasnya. Kemampuan guru dalam menggunakan strategi pembelajaran melalui penggunaan bahasa matematika di kelas menunjukkan penguasaan guru terhadap 3 level kompetensi dalam pelatihan ini.

Abstract

The Basic Calculus course is one of the compulsory courses that must be mastered by prospective mathematics teachers. This study aims to analyze the errors in the topic of Continuity in terms of prospective mathematics teachers’ ability to (1) interpret function graphs, (2) draw functions, and (3) utilize relevant concepts to construct written solutions. This is a descriptive study involving 27 second-semester of prospective mathematics teachers enrolled in Basic Calculus course as the subject of the study. Data were collected through written tests to all subjects, and interviews to selected subjects. The analysis of students' written answers revealed five types of errors: (1) errors in reading function graphs, (2) errors in sketching function graphs, (3) errors in determining the limit value of functions, (4) errors in understanding the concept of division by zero, and (5) errors in using the concept of Continuity. The findings of this study indicate that 66.67% of prospective mathematics teachers continue to demonstrate a limited proficiency in reading function graphs, 59.26% of students exhibit a lack of competence in function sketching, and 25.93% of students have a low level of ability in utilizing concepts to construct written solutions.

Abstract

Indonesia's Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) results from 2000 to 2018 are worrisome because they are at the bottom of the international rankings. This result illustrates the low quality of education in Indonesia, which correlates with the qualifications of teachers. The quality of education will increase proportionally to the proportion of teachers who possess the necessary skills. Therefore, this study aims to train teachers to improve their professionalism in developing HOTs questions using the Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) approach. Design research-type development studies with two stages, preliminary and formative evaluation, are utilized. The results of the workshop revealed that the teacher's competency scores in developing HOTs questions increased by 45.70% (before the workshop), 77.14% (workshop 1), and 85.70% (workshop 2), respectively. It is evidenced by the teacher's ability to develop HOTs questions with the characteristics of questions investigating number content within the local context of selling duku fruits (langsat), which is a typical fruit of the East Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency and with a high degree of difficulty. This research also affects students in that it can stimulate their critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

The ability to understand the concept of addition and subtraction is fundamental to all students, including students with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This study aims to produce a learning trajectory for understanding the concept of adding and subtracting whole numbers for students with ADHD using the PMRI approach. The subjects in this study were Grade 1 students with ADHD at the inclusive school or SDN 30 Palembang. The research method used was the design research method. The present research was conducted in three stages, namely the preparation stage, the two-cycle experimental design stage, (cycle I: pilot experiment, cycle II: teaching experiment), and the retrospective analysis stage. Data collection was carried out by an observation, interviews, a pre-test, written tests, documentation, and field notes. The results of the research showed that the learning activities designed could help students understand the concepts of adding and subtracting whole numbers. Some indicators of conceptual understanding that appeared in the students were the students’ abilities to classify objects according to certain characteristics, present concepts in the form of mathematical representations or images, develop the necessary and sufficient conditions for a concept, utilize and choose certain procedures or operations, and apply problem-solving concepts or algorithms. Eventually, a learning trajectory involving two activities using unique contexts of the city of Palembang supports understanding the concept of addition and subtraction.

Abstract

Mathematical Modeling is the cornerstone and central aspect of the PISA framework. However, students still encounter difficulties in dealing with problems related to mathematical modeling. This study aims to produce a learning trajectory of mathematical modeling on functions material using the context of an online taxibike. Mathematical modeling activities on functions material are designed using the mathematical modeling cycle in the PISA framework. The subjects in this study were students of class X Bina Ilmi IT Senior High School Palembang. The research method used is validation studies. The research consisted of three stages, namely the preparation stage, the experimental design stage consisting of two cycles (cycle I: pilot experiment and cycle II: teaching experiment) and the retrospective analysis stage. Data was collected through observation, interviews and written test (students' work on the activity sheet and the results of pre-test and post-test). The results showed that learning activities that have been designed can assist students in solving mathematical modeling problems on functions. It begins with the formulate, employed, interpret/evaluate process. Through these mathematical modeling processes, students have a better understanding of functions and become accustomed to using mathematical modeling processes in solving contextual problems related to function material.DOI: https://doi.org/10.22342/jpm.16.3.17228.289-302
