Abstract

This research was aimed at producing a learning trajectory, which could help the students to understand the concept of permutations study via role playing activity in the election of chairman and vice-chairman of Intra School Students Organization. The design of this research was Indonesia’s Realistic Mathematics Education approach. The sample of this reasearch were 36 students of the tenth grade of Senior High School No 15 Palembang. The data were obtained from observations, recorded vedeos, photos, students’ sheet activities, and field documentations. The result of this research showed that the learning trajectory could help the students to understand the concept of permutations study. By using role playing activity, the students have determined the administrative committee of chairman and vice-chairman election of Intra School Students Organization from 2, 3, 4, and 5 candidates, which will enable them to choose the number of formed groups arrangement, and to help them in understanding the concept of permutaions from that election.

Abstract

This article discusses about what conceptual understanding is in learning of mathematics and how conceptual understanding could be developed in a student’s thinking. As we know, generally, at least there are two types of learning that we have already experienced until right now, they are rote learning and meaningful learning, where each type has itself characteristic different from each other. The fundamental difference between the two types of learning is that rote learning emphasizes on memorizing structurally meanwhile meaningful learning focusing on understanding concepts learned. Therefore, teachers should carefully consider suitable strategies of teaching before deciding which types of learning could be developed in students’ thinking, and teachers need to pay attention to the effectiveness of teaching and learning in order to help students achieving a conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Mathematical writing errors are often made by students, especially when writing mathematical expressions on the angle of trigonometric functions. One of the causes of this error is that students do not pay close attention to the difference between radians and degrees when writing questions or writing answers. These mathematical writing errors were made mainly by students who were oriented towards the result of the answer to a question, without paying attention to good and correct writing rules. One form of writing errors in mathematical expressions of trigonometric functions is writing y = sin (x + 45), which is considered the same as writing y = sin (x + 45o). If they are asked to compare the graphical form of the function of the two mathematical expressions in the same image, the writing error will be recognized and seen. Counterexamples and technology in learning mathematics can help students understand and correct errors in writing mathematical expressions of trigonometric functions.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi karena belum tersedianya bahan ajar berbasis android pada mata pelajaran matematika khususnya untuk materi perbandingan berbalik nilai. Oleh karena itu dilakukan  penelitian pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis android yang  bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar materi perbandingan berbalik nilai berbasis android yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian  ini adalah penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE . Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui  hasil walktrough,  lembar angket, dan observasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan  bahwa validasi bahan ajar perbandingan berbalik nilai berbasis android  yang  dilihat dari aspek isi,  konstruk, dan bahasa yang dinilai dari hasil validasi ahli materi dan ahli media serta komentar siswa pada saat uji coba perorangan. Sedangkan kepraktisan  bahan ajar perbandingan  berbalik nilai berbasis android terlihat dari hasil lembar penilaian angket dan observasi pada tahap uji coba kelompok kecil. Dari hasil penilaian angket dan observasi diperoleh perhitungan  nilai  sebesar 82,17 %  berkategori praktis dan 89,17% berkategori sangat praktis. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahan ajar perbandingan berbalik nilai berbasis android telah valid dan praktis. Kata Kunci:  Pengembangan; Bahan Ajar; ADDIE                                                                              THE DEVELOPMENT OF ANDROID BASED INSTRUMENTS ON THE MATERIAL OF REVERSE VALUATION  FOR 7TH GRADE                                                                                 ABSTRACT The research is facing a background because there is not a more-based teaching material available in mathematical subjects especially for materials of comparative value.  And  so it is done to rsearch the development of lame-based teaching materials aimed at producing  materials that actually contras valid and practical android value. This research is development research using ADDIE development models. These research data are obtained walkthrough, routing sheets, and observations. The results of this study show that the validation of materials rebased android contrasts is seen in content, constructive, andlanguage aspects assessed by both material and media experts validation and student comments during individual trials. The bare-based comparison of value-based values can be seen from the result of the top-rated assessment sheet and the observation at the trial stage of a small group. Based on the value assessments and observations, the rating is 82.17% practical valise and 89.17% valegori are extremely practical. The conclusion of this research is that the reverent-based android ratio is valid and practical. Keywords : Development; Teaching Materials; ADDIE

Abstract

This research is aimed to create a learning trajectory of linear functions concept using mathematical modeling. The applied learning approach is the Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs). Design research was chosen as the research method consisting of three main phases; preliminary design, teaching experiments, and retrospective analysis. This research was conducted in class X in a public senior high school in Palembang. The result showed the design activity can encourage students to look at the form of modeling (charts/schemes/equation) that students make themself. Through steps on mathematical modeling takes students into the definition of the power to a linear functions, so the students had the idea in providing recommendations to solve real problems in life.

Abstract

Tulisan ini memaparkan kevalidan bahan ajar yang didalamnya berupa rangkaian pertanyaan probing prompting dalam upaya mengonstruksi pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap fungsi dua variabel. Strategi probing prompting terdapat pada susunan pertanyaan-pertanyaan dalam bahan ajar yang membantu mahasiswa mengonstruksi pemahamannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan design research tipe development studies. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah walkthrough dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menghasilkan bahan ajar berupa rangkaian pertanyaan untuk mengonstruksi pemahaman mahasiswa tentang domain, range, contour plot atau contour maps, surface, dan level of curve (ketinggian kurva) fungsi dua variabel, dan bahan ajar yang dihasilkan dilengkapi dengan bantuan aplikasi Geogebra. Rangkaian pertanyaan untuk materi domain dan range dimulai dari domain dan range fungsi satu variabel. Bahan ajar yang dihasilkan tersebut telah dikatakan valid berdasarkan tahapan yang telah dilaksanakan.

Abstract

This research aims to produce a valid, practical, and having potential effects PISA-like mathematics problems using taekwondo context in Asian Games. The subjects were MIA 3 student of SMA 10 Palembang. This study was design research of development study in which had two stages: the preliminary and formative evaluation. The formative evaluation includes self-evaluation, one-to-one and expert review, small group, and field test. The context is used to have the students estimate maximum numbers of exercising athletes in a hall with a specific size. The result of the analysis shows that the problems which were reviewed by three expert reviews are valid qualitatively based on the PISA framework; it is also practical and easy to understand the problem. Based on the analysis of students’ answer, the developed problems display potential effects on student’s diverse basic mathematical abilities on the various process of answering the problems. The basic mathematics abilities emerging among which are reasoning and argument ability. It appears that students can develop and solve the problem by modeling using their assumptions. Also, the other ability is designing strategies to solve problems in which students use various procedures in solving problems leading the conclusion.

Abstract

Developing PISA like mathematics problems using daily life context helps to improve the quality of learning. This study aimed to generate a valid, practical, and having potential effects on mathematics literacy ability PISA like mathematics problems with the context of sailing in the 2018 Asian Games. This research involved three expert reviews and 32 fifteen-years-old tenth-grade students of SMA N 10 Palembang, a public senior high school in Palembang Indonesia, as the research subjects. This study used the design research method of development studies type. The data were collected through documentation, walkthrough, tests, and interviews. The problem developed in this study is related to the length of wood required to span the sail. The results show that the problems are valid. The validity was viewed from its compatibility with the PISA framework, in which it had related the problems with daily life context of sailing in the 2018 Asian Games and space and shape content. The problems are also practical, viewed from students' understanding of the problem. And, the problems have potential effects when tested in learning issue of mathematical literacy ability. The dominant ability is reasoning and representation ability, while the communication ability is still low because the students do not give detailed answers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk : (1) menghasilkan LKS (Lembar Kerja Siswa) dengan model problem based learning pada materi aritmetika sosial yang valid dan praktis di kelas VII, dan (2) mengetahui efek potensial dari LKS terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan metode Design Research tipe Development Study. Subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Tahapan penelitian yang dilakukan meliputi tahap persiapan, tahap formative evaluation terdiri dari self evaluation, pengembangan, dan field test. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah dengan walkthrough, observasi, tes, dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh tiga LKS materi aritmetika sosial berbasis problem based learning yang valid dan praktis. Valid terlihat dari hasil penilaian validator, dimana validator mengomentari LKS prototype one dari segi konten, konstruk dan bahasa. Praktis terlihat dari hasil ujicoba small group, dimana berdasarkan analisis lembar jawaban siswa didapat bahwa siswa sudah mampu menyelesaikan setiap tahapan yang ada dan dari lembar komentar siswa didapat bahwa LKS yang diberikan mudah dikerjakan. LKS yang dikembangkan memiliki efek potensial terhadap hasil belajar dari ranah kognitif (pengetahuan), afektif (sikap), maupun psikomotorik (keterampilan). Pada ranah kognitif  sebanyak 25 siswa  (78,125%) mendapat nilai , pada ranah afektif semua siswa sudah menunjukkan sikap jujur dan responsif terlihat dari hasil observasi selama pengerjaan LKS, serta pada ranah psikomotorik semua siswa sudah baik keterampilannya terlihat pada hasil unjuk kerja siswa. Kata kunci: Aritmetika Sosial, Lembar Kerja Siswa, Problem Based Learning.

Abstract

This research is aimed at figuring out the role of learning activity using mathematical modelling in order to help pupils comprehend the linear programming. This research is conducted to the XI grade students of Xaverius 1 Palembang Senior High School. The learning implementation is conducted in XI Science class, which consists of 38 students. This research involves the mathematics teacher who acts as a model teacher to teach linear programming material. The method used in this research is the design research. The data are collected through video recording, taking picture during the learning process, students activity sheet, observation sheet, interview, and field notes during the learning process. The research result states that learning activity using mathematical modelling is benficial in providing the students opportunity to construct the linear programming knowledge by their own selves. Through independently thinking, students are given opportunity to express their idea about linear programming problem using mathematical modelling learning. Next, by asking the teacher, reading books, doing group discussion, and getting teacher’s reinforcement, the students are enable to enlarge the comprehension of linear programming.
