Abstract

This development research aimed to design an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted, Computational Thinking (CT)-based digital worksheet on the Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV) topic within a deforestation context, and to examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in supporting students' mathematical problem-solving skills. Although CT-based worksheets, AI-assisted learning, and environmental contexts have been studied separately, few studies have integrated these three components simultaneously in SPLDV learning; this study addresses that gap. Using the Design Research–Development Studies approach (preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment phases), the study involved grade VIII students of SMP IT Indo Global Mandiri Palembang, selected through purposive sampling (3 students in the one-to-one trial, 6 in the small-group trial, and 20 in the field test). Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests, then analyzed descriptively and using the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) test and a paired-sample t-test. The digital worksheet was categorized as very valid (95.55%) and very practical (89.7%). Students' average problem-solving score increased from 42.44 to 76.06 (N-Gain = 0.60, medium category; t = 11.13, p < 0.001). Within the scope of this single-school trial, the AI-assisted CT-based digital worksheet shows promise as a contextual mathematics teaching material.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine student errors and the factors that caused students to make mistakes in solving PISA-type math problems. Error analysis was carried out based on Newman's analysis through tests and interviews. This research was conducted in one of the junior high schools in the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands, involving 26 students. Subjects were selected based on a purposive sampling technique with three considerations: academic ability, teacher recommendations, and student willingness. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. The PISA math test questions tested consisted of change and relationship, space and shape, quantity and uncertainty, and data content. The results showed that reading errors were 40.21%, comprehension errors were 41.86%, transformation errors were 87.29%, process skill error is 90.26%, and the answer writing error is 88.46%. While uncertain and data is the content with the most significant error percentage, which is 82.31%. In general, errors were caused by students who cannot relate PISA questions to the material they usually study, and students were not accustomed to working on PISA questions.

Abstract

This workshop aims to improve the competence of teachers and prospective teachers in designing and using DGS Mathigon technology-based learning media to teach geometric proofs and provide a deeper understanding of the importance of introducing geometric proofs in the classroom. Participants consisted of teachers and prospective mathematics teachers who were introduced to the basic concepts of proof and how Mathigon can be used to visualize geometric concepts and clarify the proof process. The workshop implementation method was carried out through conceptual sessions, practice, and evaluation of the results of the participants' work. The results of the analysis of the participants' assignments showed the participants' abilities in designing geometric proof problems and using technology-based teaching media, namely Mathigon. A self-evaluation questionnaire showed that 85% of participants felt the material presented was very useful and relevant, and 75% felt more prepared to integrate Mathigon in their teaching. Overall, this workshop successfully introduced technology that can enrich geometry teaching, making learning more interactive and interesting for students.

Abstract

The projected result of this research is to design valid and practical differentiated mathematics learning activities on arithmetic sequences and series to support computational thinking abilities. These activities were designed utilizing the ADDIE development model, which provides a structured framework for designing, testing, and refining learning tools. This study resulted in a validity score of 90.14% for student worksheets, 92.85% for test questions and 77.4% for practicality. The pretest average was 50.54 with a standard deviation of 18.04, while the posttest average increased to 95.92 with a standard deviation of only 3.57, indicating an increase in student consistency and performance. The findings of the N-Gain analysis conveyed that the learning method incorporating differentiated activities was considered highly effective. Overall, the implementation of the computational thinking-based differentiation learning model has also proven to be very beneficial. Based on the test results, there was a notable increase in scores on each component of computational thinking skills. The findings regarding the validity and practicality of the student worksheet (LKPD) also achieved high ratings, indicating that this learning tool is both effective and practical to use in the learning process. Implication the research differentiated learning not only improves students’ understanding of mathematical concepts, but also prepares them with critical and computational thinking skills.

Abstract

Indonesian students’ mathematical literacy remains below the OECD average, with international assessments indicating persistent difficulty in translating contextual problems into systematic mathematical reasoning, a gap that Computational Thinking (CT) is theorized to help close. This study examines the validity of a Computational Thinking-based electronic student worksheet (E-LKPD), supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI), in the context of deforestation on the topic of Linear Equation System in Two Variables (SPLDV). The research addresses the need for valid learning tools that strengthen students’ mathematical problem-solving skills while promoting environmental awareness, examining how CT skills and environmental issues can be meaningfully integrated, with AI assisting the algorithmic stage of CT through automated feedback, solution-strategy hints, and adaptive task difficulty. The method used is design research with a development studies approach, focusing on preliminary research and prototyping. Validation involved expert review by subject-matter, media, and education experts, together with one-to-one student evaluations, to assess content, construct, language, and visual aspects. Results show that the CT-based E-LKPD with AI support meets the established validity criteria for content accuracy, presentation, and media quality. The developed E-LKPD is thus feasible for use as a learning tool integrating computational thinking, artificial intelligence, and environmental awareness.

Abstract

In the context of 21st-century education, numeracy skills are a required competency for students. Numeracy is a person's ability to understand and use mathematics in solving problems in everyday life. To ensure an effective learning process, supporting teaching materials are needed to enhance students' numeracy skills, such as student worksheets. This study aims to evaluate the validity of student worksheets based on computational thinking and local wisdom of Musi Banyuasin, supported by GeoGebra, to enhance students’ numeracy skills. The validation process by experts produced validity test data collected using a validation sheet in the form of a Likert scale questionnaire, which was then analyzed to determine the level of validity of the student worksheets. The results of the average percentage of student worksheets were activity 1 reached 84.05% and activity 2 reached 84.82% in the first meeting. By the second meeting, activity 1 reached 86.2%, and activity 2 reached 86.51%. Thus, it can be said that the student worksheets developed has met the criteria of being very valid, so it is worthy of use. This indicates that the worksheets contribute positively to the field of mathematics education by providing effective support for improving students' numeracy skills.

Abstract

Computational thinking sangat penting untuk dimiliki oleh siswa dalam memecahkan masalah. Menyadari pentingnya hal ini, computational thinking dimasukkan dalam framework PISA 2021 untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah. Namun, kemampuan computational thinking siswa di Indonesia masih tergolong rendah. Selain itu juga model pembelajaran matematika yang selama ini diterapkan di kelas cenderung masih bersifat prosedural dan belum secara optimal mendorong keterlibatan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan pendekatan pembelajaran yang mendorong siswa untuk berpikir kritis melalui pemecahan masalah, serta menggunakan teknologi sebagai alat bantu verifikasi hasil. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk menggambarkan kemampuan computational thinking berdasarkan indikator decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, dan algorithm siswa kelas XI pada materi komposisi fungsi melalui pembelajaran pemecahan masalah matematis berbantuan GeoGebra. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan secara observasi, tes, dan wawancara. Adapun subjek penelitian ini adalah 31 siswa kelas XI di SMA Srijaya Negara Palembang pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan computational thinking siswa kelas XI pada materi komposisi fungsi melalui pembelajaran pemecahan masalah berbantuan GeoGebra berada pada kategori sedang. Siswa sudah mampu melakukan dekomposisi dan mengenali pola dengan cukup baik, namun masih kesulitan dalam aspek abstraksi yang mana siswa masih kesulitan dalam membedakan informasi yang digunakan dan informasi tidak digunakan. Selain itu juga, siswa pada aspek algoritma siswa masih belum bisa menuliskan hasil jawaban secara sistematis

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study investigates the multidisciplinary integration of artificial intelligence, learning analytics, cognitive psychology, and science education to evaluate three Large Language Model (LLM) configurations. It aims to optimize an adaptive digital scaffolding framework for primary computational thinking (CT) and scientific reasoning under tight latency constraints. Methodology: Deployed via Python 3.11 within an automated benchmarking ecosystem, OpenAI gpt-5-mini, Google gemini-3.5-flash, and Meta llama-3.3-70b-versatile (Groq LPU) were evaluated across 15 Bebras tasks (135 structured API interactions). The multidisciplinary validation applied content and psycholinguistic triage to analyze the interface between technical inference latency and the continuity of students' scientific inquiry processes. Main Findings: Meta Llama-3.3-70b achieved optimal performance with a 0.2687s latency, maximizing the Student Waiting Threshold (SWT) compliance margin to support uninterrupted scientific schema construction. OpenAI GPT-5 Mini exhibited superior Socratic instruction adherence (6.9% failure) but introduced a 2.3764s latency overhead. Gemini 3.5 Flash truncated crucial pedagogical contexts due to its constrained 3-token output distribution. Novelty/Originality of this study: This work introduces a multidisciplinary engineering blueprint that bridges hardware-level computing optimization with technology-enhanced science education. By formalizing a latency-constrained routing protocol, it establishes a theoretical model demonstrating how infrastructure responsiveness directly safeguards the cognitive sustainability of scientific reasoning and problem-solving sequences in primary STEM learning contexts.
