Abstract

The marine ecosystems in the southern part of Rote Ndao District, within the Timor Sea, could be harmed by oil spills from ships or offshore rigs operated by oil and gas companies in the Timor Sea block, shared by Indonesia, Australia, and Timor Leste. The assessment using Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) maps using the thematic data. Areas identified as most sensitive to oil spills include West Rote district (Boa and Nembrala villages), and Southwest Rote district (Oeseli, Landu, and Manuk villages and Ndana islands). The beach type in Rote Ndao which is dominated by sloped sandy beach is a substrate type that is easy to clean from oil spill. Conversely, the biodiversity component has the highest sensitivity. The socio-economic components that are most sensitive to the effect of oil spills are the main sources of livelihood include seaweed cultivation, fisheries, and marine tourism. Oil spill mitigation in Rote Ndao must be focused on oil spill risk management in the hotspot area based on the environmental sensitivity index. A plan to prevent oil spills can be created, targeting these hotspots to establish an early warning system for effective mitigation. Keywords:Environmental sensitivity indexoil spillRote Ndaobiodiversityrisk management

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cultivation of Panulirus homarus lobster is now carried out with sub-mersible net cage system at a certain depth in order to obtain optimal temperature, light and water pressure. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the health status of the sand lobster P. homarus which was kept in sub-mersible net cage system measuring 250 cm × 272 cm × 135 cm with a depth of 6 m and 8 m in the waters of Semak Daun Island, Seribu Islands, DKI Jakarta. The average size of lobster seeds used was 93.23 ± 0.99 g/head with a density of 4 lobsters/m2. Lobsters were fed trash fish, molluscs and crustaceans, with a frequency of twice a day at 07.00 WIB 30% and 17.00 WIB 70% of the lobster biomass weight. This study used a completely randomized design with the two depth treatments mentioned above and three replications. Observations of total haemocyte count, differential haemocyte count, phenoloxidase activity, respiratory burst phagocytic activity and histology of lobster hepatopancreas were performed twice every 14 days. Based on the above observations, the depth does not affect the immune response, there is no visible damage to the cells and tissues of the lobster hepatopancreas. Keywords: haemolymph, histology, lobster cultivation, sea, sub-mersible net cage system

Abstract

Indonesia, as one of the world’s largest archipelagic countries, is highly prone to natural disasters due to its geological, geographical, and socio-demographic conditions. Despite various efforts from the government and related institutions, there remains a lack of an integrated technological solution that addresses the critical aspects of disaster management. This research aims to develop a mobile-based disaster management information system called Aksi Bencana Indonesia, featuring five integrated functions: real-time disaster information, donation facilitation, volunteer management, logistics coordination, and disaster education. The development process involved identifying functional and non-functional requirements through interviews with disaster mitigation experts and literature studies, followed by UI/UX design using Figma, and coding using Flutter for the frontend and Laravel for the backend. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) was conducted with participants aged 18–55 to evaluate the system’s usability and effectiveness. The results showed that the application met the users’ expectations in providing timely and reliable information, facilitating donations and volunteer coordination, and supporting educational initiatives. Moreover, the integration of real-time features improved response time and enhanced the efficiency of resource distribution during disaster events. This study concludes that the application successfully bridges the gap between communities, donors, and volunteers, offering a practical solution for disaster preparedness and response. Future research may focus on expanding the system’s interoperability with national disaster databases and enhancing the analytics dashboard for better decision-making.

Abstract

Jakarta Bay is an active area and receives pollution from the mainland through 13 river systems in DKI Jakarta. This waste enters Jakarta Bay through 13 rivers. This study compared the distribution of dissolved heavy metals in the West and East Monsoons of Jakarta Bay to understand the processes and sources of heavy metals. Sampling was carried out once in each zone, and sea water samples stored in HDPE (high-density polyethylene) bottles were taken to the laboratory for analysis using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry), with a measurement accuracy of 0.001 mg/L. GIS was used to map heavy metal parameters. The concentrations of heavy metals found were mercury (Hg) 0.0002 to 0.0005 mg/L, copper (Cu) 0.0062 to 0.0089 mg/L, lead (Pb) 0.006 to 0.007 mg/L, zinc (Zn) 0.0247 to 0.0334 mg/L, and nickel (Ni) 0.0044 to 0.0088 mg/L. In summary, the study shows that the physical-chemical conditions of Jakarta Bay significantly affect the distribution of dissolved heavy metals such as Hg, Cu, Pb, Zn and Ni.

Abstract

The Dampier Strait regional conservation area is one of the conservation areas included in the Raja Ampat Regency marine conservation area, which has high potential for developing tourism activities. The most important aspect in the use of natural resources for tourism purposes is their suitability to support tourism activities. The challenge faced is the difficulty if the potential for beach tourism, snorkeling and diving to be developed simultaneously. The aim of this research is to determine areas for ecotourism and recommend appropriate locations. Data analysis is determining ecotourism areas using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). TOPSIS is used because it is able to rank the selected alternatives that are closest to the positive ideal and furthest from the negative ideal solution. The criteria used are tourist carrying capacity, accommodation, accessibility, number of international tourists, number of domestic tourists and suitability area. The results of this TOPSIS analysis are that Sauwandarek, Marandanweser and Arborek are areas that can be used as an alternative area for carrying out beach tourism, snorkeling and diving activities. Areas that can be developed into ecotourism activities are Yeben Kecil and Tanjung Putus.
