Abstract

The advancement of technology brings significant impact to tourism industry, marked with the rise of Online Travel Agents (OTAs) that assist consumers in planning their trips. Traveloka ranked first as the most popular OTA followed with Tiket.com and Agoda. In an effort to attract and retain customers, Traveloka has integrated gamification features that encourage repeated transactions by offering rewards such as points, which can be redeemed for vouchers. This study examines the influence of gamification on repurchase intention, with perceived enjoyment serving as a mediator and reward satisfaction functioning as a moderator. Data was collected from 201 Traveloka users who had made a transaction and engaged with the gamification features within the last six months. Using purposive sampling and a quantitative research approach, the study employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for data analysis. The findings found that gamification significantly influences repurchase intention and enhances perceived enjoyment. Additionally, perceived enjoyment partially mediates the relationship between gamification and repurchase intention. Meanwhile, reward satisfaction as moderator variable weakens the relationship between gamification and repurchase intention. These results offer valuable insights into the effectiveness of gamification strategies for customer engagement and repeat purchase behavior in the highly competitive OTA market.

Abstract

One way that is widely used by many organizations in general, including hotels to survive in a business competition climate is to encourage employees to have an entrepreneurial mindset and behavior in carrying out their respective functions. The mindset and behavior must, of course, be initiated and supported by the Top Management Team (TMT) including the Functional Top Management Team (FTMT) level. However, unfortunately, some FTMT members do not have the same mindset and behavior. FTMT is like the heart of an organization and functions as a predecessor from the birth of a business strategy such as strategic alliances. In the context of hotels, strategic alliances should ideally be born from innovative ideas that are not only the responsibility of FTMT. Thus, FTMT must also play a role to encourage the creation of innovation that is in line with the organization's vision, mission, goals, and competencies. Improving the entrepreneurial orientation of the hotel, especially the innovativeness factor is an important step to initiate the application of statistic alliances which of course the strategy should come from the ideas of the FTMT. This study tries to analyze the role of FTMT and its influence on innovation and the application of business strategies in the form of strategic alliances. Data collected from 29 4 and 5 star hotels in Surabaya were analyzed using structural equation modeling to support the hypothesis of this research. The results of this study indicate that all three hypotheses can be accepted where FTMT influences innovativeness and strategic alliance. Innovativeness also has a direct influence on strategic alliances.

Abstract

The number of online applications users of food and beverage delivery services in Indonesia is growing every year. That is also followed by many culinary entrepreneurs who have established partnerships with online applications. One of the major online food and beverage delivery service applications in Indonesia is Grabfood. Through Grabfood, products ordered online by users will be delivered to their homes in a relatively short time. Ordering food and drinks through Grabfood is also very beneficial for users because they can enjoy a variety of attractive promotions, both in the form of food and beverage discounts, cashback, shipping cost discounts, and so on. One of the promotional strategies carried out by Grabfood is to do scarcity marketing. This study aims to observe whether the scarcity marketing carried out by Grabfood can affect the desirability of Grabfood users and at the same time examine the role of perceived uniqueness as an intervening variable in the model developed by this study. Scarcity marketing in the study is divided into two types, namely limited-quantity scarcity and limited-time scarcity. The sample in this study involved one hundred and thirteen active users of the Grabfood application who have filled out a complete online questionnaire. The data processing results show that limited-quantity scarcity and limited-time scarcity can directly have a positive and significant effect on perceived uniqueness and desirability. Furthermore, perceived uniqueness also has a direct positive and significant effect on desirability. In its position as an intervening variable, the construct of perceived uniqueness can partially mediate the relationship between limitedquantity scarcity and limited-time scarcity on desirability. Further research focused on another intervening variable that partially mediates the relationship between limited-quantity scarcity and limited-time scarcity to desirabilities, such as perceived value or social status.

Abstract

For decades, the close link between pilgrims and tourists has been recognized by medieval scholars and tourism historians and has been the subject of further research in recent years. Pilgrimage has become a phenomenal thing and is growing quite rapidly because it is considered a crucial factor for many adherents of several major religions in the world. Pilgrimage and tourism have a very close relationship. This quantitative study investigates predictors of intention to partake in pilgrimage events in Indonesia. This study adopts the purposive sampling technique in collecting data from the respondents. A total of 189 respondents participated in filling out the online questionnaire. The findings of this study indicate that the four hypotheses proposed in this study are not entirely acceptable. Attitudes do not significantly affect the intention to partake in pilgrimage events. Behavioral beliefs on attitudes, motivation to comply with subjective norms, and subjective norms on intentions to partake in pilgrimage events are three hypotheses that have significant influence. Several recommendations for future research are also outlined at the end of this study. One of them recommends exploring more predictors to identify the intention to partake in pilgrimage events as a big potential to develop pilgrimage tourism in Indonesia further.

Abstract

Background – The rise of online check-in applications, like 'Book cabin' by Lion Air Group, highlights the need for secure and useful features to build trust and drive reuse intention. Understanding these factors is essential for enhancing user adoption and satisfaction. Aim – This research aims to analyze the influence of trust as a mediating variable of perceived security and perceived usefulness on interest in reusing Book cabin as an online check-in application at the Lion Air Group. Design / methodology / approach – The population in this research were users of the Book cabin application with a sample of 200 respondents. The sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires via Google Form. The data processing method in this study uses Smart-PLS which is used to test the hypothesis. Findings – The findings indicate that perceived security, perceived usefulness, and trust each have a significant positive impact on the intention to reuse the Book cabin application. Additionally, trust serves as an important mediator, strengthening the relationship between perceived security, perceived usefulness, and reuse intention. Research implication – This study contributes to the marketing fields and existing literature by examining the influence of perceived security and perceived usefulness on the intention to reuse an online check-in application. It advances previous research by exploring trust as a mediating factor, providing a deeper understanding of how trust can bridge user perceptions and behavioral intentions in digital travel services. Limitations – This study has several limitations, including the use of cross-sectional data that does not capture long-term behavioral changes and a focus on perceived security and usefulness without considering other factors like perceived ease of use, or e-WOM. Additionally, the sample is limited to users of the Book Cabin application, particularly those from the Lion Air Group. Future research should adopt a longitudinal approach, and expand the sample scope to achieve more comprehensive and generalizable findings.

Abstract

Abstract- The revitalization of Surabaya’s old precinct holds strong potential to enhance the city's tourism appeal and stimulate local economic development. This heritage-rich area has historical and cultural value, making it a strategic destination for both domestic and international tourists. However, several challenges hinder its development, including a lack of interactive attractions, insufficient public facilities such as cafés, rest areas, and toilets, as well as limited visitor engagement and short tourist stays. This study employs a qualitative descriptive research design, using triangulated data from in-depth interviews with government officials, heritage community members, and tourism practitioners, along with field observations and document analysis. The research aims to identify key strategies, opportunities, and constraints in revitalizing the precinct. Findings highlight the critical role of multi-stakeholder collaboration in revitalization efforts, where the synergy between the government, local communities, and the private sector is essential to success. The study also shows that improved infrastructure, enhanced public awareness, and creative tourism programming are necessary to sustain heritage tourism in the area. This study contributes to the discourse on sustainable urban heritage management and offers practical recommendations to policymakers seeking to balance conservation with tourism-driven economic growth in historic urban districts.
