Abstract

Badminton smash accuracy is an important concern in athlete training because the smash is one of the most decisive attacking techniques for gaining points during a match. However, limited research has examined the use of fixed target and moving target training methods to improve smash performance among young athletes at PB Muda Mandiri. This study aims to analyze the effect of fixed target and moving target training methods on badminton smash performance. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental design, involving 10 male badminton athletes selected through purposive sampling from a total population of 25 athletes at PB Muda Mandiri. Data were collected using a badminton smash performance test and analyzed through the Lilliefors normality test and t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The findings indicate that fixed target and moving target training methods significantly improved badminton smash performance. The average pre-test score was 12, while the average post-test score increased to 20 after the treatment. Hypothesis testing showed that t-count = 4.57 was higher than t-table = 1.833, indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The study concludes that fixed target and moving target training methods play an important role in enhancing badminton smash performance. These findings contribute to the development of badminton training methods by demonstrating the effectiveness of structured target-based exercises in improving smash accuracy. Practically, the study recommends that coaches integrate fixed target and moving target exercises into technical training programs, while future research should involve larger samples, control groups, and additional performance indicators such as smash speed, power, and match effectiveness.

Abstract

Physical education has the potential to support not only students’ physical development but also their social and emotional growth. However, physical activity in many physical education classes is still implemented without a clear pedagogical design aimed at developing students’ social awareness. This study examined the effect of Positive Youth Development (PYD)-based physical activity on strengthening social awareness among middle school students. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was used involving 60 students (aged 13–15 years) who were divided into an experimental group (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). The experimental group participated in physical education activities designed using PYD principles such as cooperation, empathy, responsibility, and positive social interaction, while the control group followed conventional physical education learning. Social awareness (caring) was measured using adapted items from the Chinese Positive Youth Development Scale covering empathy, prosocial behavior, social relations, and emotional regulation. The results showed a significant increase in social awareness in the experimental group compared with the control group (p < 0.05), indicating that PYD-based physical activity can support the development of students’ social competence in physical education learning.

Abstract

Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) significantly impacts athletes by impairing their performance and overall health. Characterized by airway narrowing during or after physical activity, EIB affects the quality of training and competition. This study employs a qualitative descriptive research model based on a comprehensive literature review to evaluate EIB management strategies in athletes. We systematically collected data from trusted scientific databases—Scopus, Science Direct, and Google Scholar—using keywords such as "Exercise-Induced Asthma," "Athlete," and "Sport." Relevant articles were identified, and key terms related to EIB management were reviewed. The data, including study designs, research objectives, sample sizes, and findings, were compiled and analyzed to determine effective management approaches. Key findings indicate that accurate diagnosis using spirometry and bronchial provocation tests is essential. Pharmacological management primarily involves inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) to reduce inflammation and control EIB, while short-acting beta agonists (SABAs) offer only temporary relief. Non-pharmacological strategies include avoiding triggers, implementing proper warm-up routines, and using breathing techniques. Supervised aerobic exercise programs were shown to improve cardiovascular fitness without worsening EIB symptoms. The study also reviewed the impact of environmental factors, such as air pollution and post-COVID-19 conditions, on EIB. Recommendations include personalized asthma action plans, training for coaches on environmental triggers, and exercising in controlled conditions. This study highlights the need for a holistic approach combining pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods to manage EIB effectively and maintain athletic performance. Further research is warranted to develop tailored strategies for athletes with EIB.

Abstract

Consumption of protein in weight training when adjusted to the needs will result in perfect muscle growth and development, especially in increasing maximum strength. In fact, many Fitness Members consume protein without paying attention to the dose, so that increasing maximum strength is not realized properly. This study aims to provide high-protein supplements and high-protein foods in weight training to increase maximum muscle strength. The design used in this study is a three group pre test and post test, consisting of a group consuming high protein supplements, a group consuming a high protein diet and a control group. The population in this study are FIK UNP students, with a total sample of 39 people. The instrument used in this study is a maximum strength test (leg & Hand Dynamo Meter test). The data obtained in this study are analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) with = 0.05. The results showed: (1) There was a difference in effect between the group given high protein supplements, high protein die,t and the control group, (2) The group given high protein supplements had a difference from the average of the other two groups, (3) The group given high protein supplements high-protein supplements had a difference from the average of the other two groups, (4) The high-protein diet group did not have a mean difference with the control group. The limitation in this study is that the researcher was not able to control aspects that were outside the research activities such as other high protein contamination consumed by the research food samples. The next stage, this research will look at the effects of consuming high-protein supplements on a sustainable basis on human health.
