Abstract

This research focuses on a well-known problem in secondary education that a student may have a hard time in choosing their study major to fit their interest, gifts, and long-term goals. Concentrating on the SAINTEK (science and technology) and SOSHUM (social sciences and humanities) streams of Indonesian high schools, the study will incorporate an Artificial neural network (ANN) to provide an insight into the student preferences based on multidimensional data through modeling and predicting purposes. A 44-item questionnaire was distributed to 205 students of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganom to gather the inputs that involved personal interests, parental influence, career perspective, and psychosocial characteristics. It was trained and validated with Stratified K-Fold Cross Validation that delivered good performance scores of average accuracy at 87% and precision value at 89- 91 recall and an F1-score of 90. In addition to the algorithmic validation, qualitative interviews of some of the students indicated that the prediction of the model corresponds to what these students perceive about their academic leanings. The obtained results argue that ANN systems can be used, not only as an error-free classifier but also as an educational decision-support system that can be used to augment student guidance with personally-tailored, data-driven advice. The proposed study locates ANN in the larger pedagogical mission of responsiveness and student-centered planning as such, the study also advances the new discourse of ethical and effective uses of artificial intelligence in education.

Abstract

The growing influence of deep learning technologies in everyday life has created new demands for educational systems worldwide, prompting efforts to introduce basic concepts of artificial intelligence at earlier stages of learning. In Indonesia, while digital literacy initiatives are gaining momentum, the preparedness of primary school teachers to teach deep learning concepts remains largely unexplored. This study aims to investigate the readiness of Indonesian primary school teachers to teach fundamental deep learning principles, identify the challenges they face, and assess the level of institutional support available to them. A mixed methods design was employed, combining quantitative survey data from 215 teachers with qualitative insights gathered through focus group interviews. The survey measured readiness across technical, pedagogical, and institutional dimensions, while thematic analysis was used to explore deeper experiences and perspectives. The findings reveal that while teachers express strong enthusiasm and recognize the importance of introducing deep learning, their technical understanding and pedagogical confidence remain moderate. Access to training opportunities and digital infrastructure emerged as critical enablers, whereas a lack of curricular guidance and institutional support was cited as major barriers. Teacher motivation is not lacking; rather, systemic support must be strengthened to turn readiness into effective practice. Preparing teachers for deep learning education requires comprehensive strategies that integrate professional development, curriculum design, and infrastructure improvement. This study enriches the limited literature on AI education at the primary level in developing countries and offers practical recommendations for policymakers and educational stakeholders seeking to build future-ready classrooms.

Abstract

Ruwatan is a self-cleansing method in Javanese society for those considered sukerta (spiritually unclean person). To prevent a misfortune in life, the sukerta people must be ritually cleaned. The Murwakala performance is led by a dhalang ruwat in this ruwatan ceremonial procession, therefore a dhalang plays an important role. However, several qualifications must be met before being ordained as a dhalang ruwat and trusted to lead the ruwatan sukerta procession. The objective of the study is to explore the concept of old-aged (sepuh) in becoming a dhalang ruwat. The descriptive qualitative model was used to develop this study, the results of which were descriptions of field notes in the form of interviews with dhalang ruwat, observations, and documentation. The results showed that in order to become a dhalang ruwat, one must be descended from a dhalang ruwat, be a role model, and have married their offspring. The notion of sepuh (old-aged) in becoming a dhalang ruwat includes being psychologically mature in terms of age, as well as being spiritually capable in terms of social position.

Abstract

This research aims to examine how e-learning, particularly guided by self-determination theory, impacts student satisfaction by meeting their basic needs and fostering intrinsic motivation. Specifically, we investigate various factors influencing student satisfaction, the role of e-learning, and supportive elements for e-learning satisfaction, focusing on the Indonesian context where e-learning, particularly via Learning Management Systems (LMS), is prevalent in higher education. Despite the widespread use of e-learning, there is a lack of research from the students' perspective. To address this gap, we conducted a descriptive qualitative study using the LMS SPADA platform. Through interviews and observations with 40 students, we explored their experiences with e-learning. Drawing on self-determination theory, which posits autonomy, competence, and relatedness as crucial factors in motivation and satisfaction, we assessed student satisfaction with e-learning. Our findings indicate that students generally find e-learning satisfactory, provided that certain conditions, especially those related to self-determination theory variables, are met. This research underscores the importance of adequately preparing all aspects of e-learning to enhance student satisfaction. Its implications extend to educators, students, and universities utilizing e-learning, particularly those in the Indonesian higher education sector.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia has experienced developments related to the use of technology. Learning on personal computers (PC) and smartphone technology devices is common, and it is also referred to as "hybrid learning." However, when researchers conducted a survey of SMK students in Surakarta, even though they had used personal computers or gadgets, they only used a few media software programs to study engineering material. Seeing this phenomenon, researchers want to identify students' needs for media software, namely mobile augmented reality. This identification aims to provide a critical initial analysis of the need for mobile augmented reality learning media software that is connected to a smartphone for engineering learning for SMK students. The research samples involved were students of SMK N 2 Surakarta and SMK N 5 Surakarta. Using questionnaires, field observations, and interviews as data collection techniques. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. Define part of the 4D research model using the research method, and the research results show that SMK students in Surakarta require mobile augmented reality media in learning engineering material if hybrid learning is used.
