Abstract

This study aimed to determine the perceptions of teachers and students about the Scientific Approach in science learning. This study used a survey method, with the subjects of 2 science teachers and 10 random students from grades VII and VIII who used the inquiry-based scientific approach. The research instruments used, namely learning documents, teacher and student interviews, teacher and student questionnaire sheets, and 10 questions about understanding the scientific approach. The data collection techniques used in this research are document analysis, interviews, questionnaires, and comprehension questions which will later be described. The results of analyzing learning documents and interviews stated that the teacher had compiled complete learning documentation and in accordance with the stages of the Scientific Approach. The implementation of the stages of Scientific Approach by teachers and students obtained from questionnaire analysis stated that learning using Scientific Approach was carried out appropriately, but at the stage of communicating did not go well due to time constraints. The results of the test stated that the quality of student learning using inquiry-based Scientific Approach learning was quite good.

Abstract

This article explores the Sufistic thought of Sheikh Burhanuddin as presented in his work, “Tazkir al-Gabi”. This work is significant for its po­tential to elucidate the history of Sufism’s development in the Minangkabau and Malay Islamic world. This study employs a qualitative method with a historical approach, incorporating heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography to uncover the history of “Tazkir al-Gabi” and Sheikh Burhanuddin’s Sufistic thought. The findings reveal that “Tazkir al-Gabi” is a critical work directly linked to 14th-century Sufism historical sources. It presents a Sunni Sufism interpretation style, particularly in discussions about divinity and Sufism. “Tazkir al-Gabi” also embodies efforts to recon­cile Sufism and Shari’a, specifically in clarifying the understanding of wuju­­diyah in Syattariyah teachings in Minangkabau. This reconciliation is evident in the interpretation of physical and spiritual deeds, underscoring the importance of Sharia-based deeds in Sufism. The study’s implications highlight the need for optimal exploration of local manuscripts to under­stand the diversity of religious discussions within their cultural contexts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari tuntutan individu pada abad ke-21 yang mengharuskan pelajar untuk menguasai kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Namun, realitanya kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik pada negara Indonesia masihlah bisa disebut rendah dengan cerminan dari skor tes PISA yang dilaksanakan OECD pada tahun 2022. Hal tersebut disebebkan karna kegiatan belajar mengajar yang dilaksanakan masihlah memusatkan di pihak guru. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini punya tujuan guna mengetahui meningkatnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik SMP lewat diterapkannya group investigation dalam problem based learning. Pembelajaran group investigation dalam problem based learning ialah satu diantara model pembelajaran dengan berpusat pada peserta didik. Rancangan penelitian yang dilibatkan ialah one grup pretest posstest design. Subjek pada penelitian yakni peserta didik kelas VII-A SMP Negeri 17 Surabaya yang banyaknya ada 29 peserta didik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan memecahkan masalah peserta didik sesuai diterapkannya group investigation dalam problem based learning meningkat. Peningkatan tersebut dapat dilihat dari hasil N-gain yang ada di angka 0,5 yang berkategori sedang. Sesuai pada temuan itu, bisa diambil kesimpulan bahwasannya kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik bisa dinaikkan lewat diterapkannya group investigation dalam problem based learning terutama pada materi pencemaran lingkungan.

Abstract

Permasalahan utama dalam penelitian ini ialah adanya hegemoni pemerintah sejak masa Pemerintahan Hindia Belanda hingga masa Orde Baru. Hal ini membuat terjadinya perubahan nilai-nilai yang ada dalam sistem Pemerintahan Tradisional Mendapo serta telah menghilangkan sistem Pemerintahan Tradisional sebagai identitas masyarakat Kerinci. Selain itu, kurangnya perhatian Pemerintah Kabupaten Kerinci terhadap keberadaan sistem Pemerintahan Tradisional Mendapo sebagai sebuah sistem Pemerintahan Tradisional asli Kerinci menjadi faktor hilangnya mendapo dari struktural Pemerintahan Daerah Kabupaten Kerinci. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah dibantu dengan penggunaan pendekatan filologi dan teori hegemoni Gramsci dengan beberapa penyesuaian untuk melihat dan menganalisa variabel sesuai pertanyaan penelitian. Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplor dan menganalisa proses, faktor penyebab, dan dampak hilangnya sistem Pemerintahan Tradisional Mendapo yang ada di Kerinci pasca kemerdekaan Indonesia. Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan mendapo sebagai bentuk persekutuan atau institusi pemerintahan lokal yang telah berdiri di Kerinci dan memiliki otonomi tersendiri yang berasal dari gabungan beberapa buah dusun atau negeri, yang didasarkan dari kesamaan geneologi dan Hukum Adat telah ada di Kerinci sebelum kedatangan Kolonial Belanda ke wilayah Kerinci. Kedatangan Kolonial Belanda telah membuat pergeseran nilai-nilai sosial dalam sistem Pemerintahan Mendapo hingga puncaknya masa pasca kemerdekaan Indonesia berbagai bentuk hegemoni pemerintah berdampak buruk bagi keberadaan nilai sosial dan tradisi yang melekat dengan keberadaan sistem Pemerintahan Mendapo di Kerinci.

Abstract

Sebelum datangnya islam ke Jazirah Arab, peradaban pada masa itu dikenal dengan sebutan jahiliyah yang bermakna bodoh dalam aspek keyakinan/ketuhanan. Tauhid merupakan sesuatu yang jarang ditemui di kalangan bangsa Arab ketika itu, dan setelah Islam tersebar di tengah-tengah Arab, masyarakat ketika itu tidak lagi disebut dengan jahiliyah yang artinya Islam berhasil membawa kemajuan pada aspek ketuhanan. Oleh karena itu, menarik untuk diteliti berkaitan dengan “Kepercayaan Arab Pra Islam dan Perspektif Islam dalam menyikapinya”. Islam menyikapi kepercayaan masyarakat Arab ketika itu dengan 3 sikap, yaitu: menerima sekaligus menyempurnakan, mengubah, dan juga melarang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kepercayaan-kepercayaan masyarakat Arab pra Islam yang ditemukan dari berbagai sumber literasi serta memaparkan perspektif Islam dalam menyikapi kepercayaan-kepercayaan tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian sejarah. Sebelum datangnya Islam, kepercayaan masyarakat Arab pada zaman itu terbagi menjadi 4 golongan. Fatalisme, Paganisme, Kepercayaan pada Allah, dan Monotheisme adalah 4 golongan tersebut. Sebelum islam turun di Jazirah Arab, telah ada berbagai macam ritual keagamaan di sana. Setelah Islam turun, ditanggapi berbagai ritual keagamaan tersebut di dalam Al-Qur’an dengan 3 sikap, yaitu: menerima sekaligus menyempurnakan, mengubah, dan juga melarang. 3 Perspektif tersebut menunjukkan posisi Islam dalam menyikapi ritual keagamaan Arab pra Islam.

Abstract

Professional teachers have personality competencies, pedagogical, social and professional competencies. One indicator of a professional teacher is if the prospective teacher masters the basic competencies (BC) of the subject being taught. Mastery of BC in the curriculum is very important, so that prospective teachers can plan learning by describing BC into indicators and learning objectives. The depth and breadth of the material available determines the teacher's ability to understand these competencies. Quantitative descriptive research using survey techniques (46 respondents) was conducted to analyze prospective teachers' perceptions of BC which includes cognitive competence and skills competence. The research steps began with preparing a questionnaire in Google Forms (50 Questions) which had been validated by science education experts. Questionnaires were distributed to prospective teachers. Data was analyzed using percentages. The research results showed that prospective madrasa teachers stated that BC skills were more difficult to understand and teach than cognitive BC. The most difficult BC to understand and teach to students in class IV is material about life cycles. In class V, the most difficult are single substances and mixtures. The most challenging material for prospective teachers to understand and teach in class VI is electricity.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the differences in comic and science elements in educational comic books as an alternative to teaching materials in Gramedia Surabaya, Indonesia. This type of research is qualitative research. This study uses a comic content study approach (content analysis). The data sources studied in this study were four comic books with educational comic book types and had the same material, namely the material of the solar system. The four comic books are the Educomics Book: Space Britannica Education Series, Science Adventure Book: Earth and Space Vol 3. Sun, Earth, Moon and Stars, Planets in the Solar System, the Universe Science Adventure Comic Educomics Book, and the Science Book Comic: Why? Universe (Universe). The concept of the solar system that is studied is only on the sub-material components of the solar system. Based on the results obtained from this study, it is known that the Educomics Book of the Britannica Antariksa Education Series has elements of comics and science as alternative teaching materials, the Science Comic: Why? The Universe (Universe) also has elements of comics and science but has a slight flaw in the concept of Earth, while the other two comics lack some elements.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the system of social rules implemented by pre-Islamic Arab society. These social rules trigger problems in terms of gender equality and tolerance between humans. Even at that time, it was very easy to find practices of violence and war. All the problems that occurred were completely inconsistent with Islamic teachings, because they included inhumane acts. Based on this problem, pre-Islamic Arab society was known as a jahiliyah society. However, in today's advanced era, problems are still found that are similar to the pre-Islamic Arab era. Based on these circumstances, this article aims to explain a number of extremism problems originating from the inhumane social rules of pre-Islamic Arab society in terms of the values ​​of moderation and tolerance of Islamic teachings and the current reality. The method used is literature study for the pre-Islamic Arab period and direct observation of the social reality of today's society. The findings are first, insulting women and the practice of killing newborn female babies as well as slavery are considered immoderate and inhumane acts. Second, the habit of war extremism which was often carried out in pre-Islamic Arab society because of minor disputes between tribes, and was supported by the tribal fanaticism of society. Third, marriage practices and divorce provisions that were wrong and detrimental to women were carried out during the pre-Islamic Arab period. Fourth, the social reality of today's society still bears similarities to the pre-Islamic Arab period, which is caused by the lifestyle and application of Islamic teachings which are not optimal.

Abstract

This research probes the ramifications of globalization on Muslim identity in Singapore since its independence in 1965, concentrating on the four economic development phases pivotal to the nation's growth. It concurrently traces the post-independence evolution of Muslim life, specifically in religious practices and social norms. Singapore's globalization-driven economic ascent, its status as a developed nation, and its competitive business environment stand as evident outcomes. However, the Muslim communities grapple with the challenge of adapting to global shifts while preserving their Islamic identity. The study emphasizes the imperative of comprehending the intricate interplay between globalization and Muslim identity in Singapore. Employing the historical method comprising heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography, the research analyzes historical records and relics. Findings underscore the instrumental role of technology and social media in shaping Muslim identity, facilitating the dissemination of religious information and fostering global connectivity within Muslim communities. While the Singapore government's multiculturalism policy aims for interfaith harmony and recognizes the Muslim community's integral role, restrictions on public expressions of religious identity reflect the state's secular stance. This research offers a profound understanding of the complex dynamics between globalization and Muslim identity in Singapore, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities encountered by Muslim communities in safeguarding their cultural and religious diversity amidst the ever-evolving global landscape.
