Abstract

This article is motivated by the phenomenon of inequality in the role of women in the public aspect. Seeing da'wah as an essential aspect in influencing the community, the researchers were inspired to understand more deeply the representation of the content of the sermon on the role of women. For academic reasons, the researcher chooses videos from a national women preacher, Oki Setiyana Dewi (OSD), on YouTube. This article uses a qualitative Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) from Norman Fairclough and social-conflict theory. The results of this research indicate that women in her content sermon consider that women have a significant role in the domestic aspect, including taking care of children and serving their husbands. This is considered a provision from God. Meanwhile, women are allowed to work or play a role in the public sphere but should comply with some provisions. Judging from the theory used, the text of this sermon contains a conflict which is an inequality that limits the role of women. OSD produced the text of this sermon because she understands that women are “aurat” which, if seen by others, will harm them. Besides that, the condition of a patriarchal society also encourages this opinion.

Abstract

The occurrence of a dichotomy between Islamic Education and Western Education has given birth to several reformers of Islamic Education. One of them is Ismail Raji al-Faruqi, a Muslim scholar with a background in Western Education who is actively involved in the world of Education. One of his phenomenal thoughts is related to the Islamization of knowledge, which is believed to be able to bring Islamic Education back forward and not just be a copycat of Western thought. In the context of Islamic Education, the knowledge that has not been integrated with Islamic values needs to be reviewed. In the Islamic Education curriculum, Al-Faruqi suggested instilling Islamic norms through the study of Islamic culture, both at the level of elementary education to higher education. The method used to examine Ismail Raji al-Faruqi's thoughts is a qualitative research method based on library research.

Abstract

Social status and power have a significant influence in shaping the dynamics of interpersonal communication, especially in the context of interactions between individuals with striking differences in status. Gus Miftah, a scholar with high social status and strong religious influence, provides a unique opportunity to understand this phenomenon. This study aims to examine the influence of the difference in social status between Gus Miftah and iced tea sellers on the communication patterns that are established, as well as analyze how the power possessed by Gus Miftah affects the dynamics of these interactions in daily life. A descriptive qualitative approach is used in this study with data collection techniques in the form of observations and in-depth interviews that are analyzed thematically. This method aims to describe the communication patterns that emerge in their interactions. The results of the study show that differences in social status create complex communication dynamics, where the power and influence of Gus Miftah allow for empowering communication. Although potential obstacles such as awkwardness or inferiority from parties with lower social status can arise, Gus Miftah managed to minimize these obstacles with a communication approach full of empathy, care, and mutual respect. This not only creates a harmonious interaction, but also empowers iced tea sellers through increased motivation and confidence. In conclusion, effective communication between individuals with different social statuses can be achieved if those who have power use their influence wisely and inclusively. Gus Miftah is a clear example of how the principles of empowerment, respect, and empathy are able to overcome communication barriers, create relationships that are beneficial for both parties, and make a positive contribution to a more harmonious social life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the signs and messages of da'wah in the Burdah prayer presented on Maher Zain's YouTube channel. The background of this research is the importance of understanding the meaning of signs in modern da'wah media as a means of conveying Islamic values. The formulation of the problem includes three main aspects, namely the meaning of the sign in the Burdah prayer, the connotative and denotative meaning of the da'wah message, and the essence of the da'wah message contained. This study uses a graphical subjective examination technique with an information examination method that involves in-depth data collection, parsing, and analysis. The focus of the research includes the identification of signs, implied meanings, suggestive signs, denotative signs, and symbols in the Burdah prayer. The results of the study show that: first, the signs in the Burdah prayer, such as the symbol of the robe and the black robe, have an important meaning as a medium for conveying the message of protection and spiritual elegance. Second, the connotative and denotative meaning of the da'wah message represents the majesty of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH and the importance of prayer for mercy and salvation from Allah. Third, the da'wah message contained in the Burdah prayer includes the teaching values of aqidah, ethics, and sharia, which are the core of Islamic teachings. The conclusion of this study confirms that the Burdah prayer has a depth of da'wah message that is relevant to modern life, combining elements of art and spirituality to convey the teachings of Islam. This research contributes to the development of da'wah communication studies through digital media.

Abstract

In the current era of information society, audiences are increasingly active and free to choose media and content that suits their wishes and can no longer be dictated by one media at a time to meet their needs. This study aims to determine Habib Ja'far's Instagram followers' motives for deciding to watch the content presented by this famous da'i, who also doubles as a da'wah influencer. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods with the theory used in this research is Uses and Gratifications Theory. Based on the results of this study, the motive for watching Habib Ja'far da'wah's content on the @husein_hadar Instagram account is based on five elements of the type of needs satisfied by the media according to Katz, et al in Uses & Gratification Theory, namely: Personal Integrative Needs, Social Integrative Needs, Cognitive Needs, Affective Needs, and Escapist Needs. one of the classifications of audience needs and satisfaction according to McQuail, He identified several ways to classify audience needs and satisfaction, one of which is personal relationship, which occurs when people use the media instead of their friends.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui representasi” akidah dalam Seni Syiir Tradisional Blug-geblug Chanel Youtube Abi Channel dan bagaimana proses analisis semiotik Roland Barthes pada Seni Syiir Tradisional Blug-geblug Chanel Youtube Abi Channel. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analisis teks media dengan pendekatan semiotik Roland Barthes. Akidah dalam Seni Syiir Tradisional Blug-geblug mempresentasikan akidah keimanan kepada Allah SWT, Hari akhir, dan qada qadar. Analisis semiotik Roland Barthes pada penelitian ini menghasilkan Tanda berupa Syiir Blug-geblug, Petanda yang terdiri dari salam pembuka, lirik Syiir Blug-geblug dan salam penutup. Denotasi yang berupa Melantunkan Syiir Blug-geblug. Konotasi yang berupa Bersenandung dan Mitos berupa Syiiran Blug-geblug. Peneliti merekomendasikan agar pada penelitian selanjutnya dapat meneliti dan mengkaji lebih dalam dengan menggunakan metode penelitian yang berbeda dengan harapan dapat memiliki nilai kebaruan dalam penelitian tersebut.

Abstract

Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine the extent of da’wah by analyzing the assets of understanding, strategies for developing knowledge, and the results of understanding digital literacy in moderating religion among Madurese ethnic women in the Tapal Kuda area. Method - The study used the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method, focusing on Pasar Induk (the main market) in Situbondo, which represents a hub of daily activities where Madurese women dominate as traders. Data collection involved participatory observation and mentoring, with a focus on identifying various types of assets. Result - The results showed that Madurese women possess several assets, namely physical assets, human assets, and social and institutional assets. The mentoring process revealed an increase in awareness among the women about utilizing these assets for digital literacy to better understand religious moderation in their daily lives. Implication –The method suggests improving digital literacy skills and awareness among marginalized groups to promote religious moderation and empower their economic activities. Originality/Value - This research is the first study to explore the integration of digital literacy and da’wah for religious moderation specifically among Madurese women merchants in a market setting, using the ABCD method as an intervention framework.*** Tujuan - Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat sejauh mana dakwah dengan menganalisis aset pemahaman, strategi pengembangan pengetahuan, dan hasil pemahaman literasi digital dalam memoderasi agama di kalangan perempuan etnis Madura di wilayah Tapal Kuda. Metode - Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Pengembangan Masyarakat Berbasis Aset (ABCD), dengan fokus pada Pasar Induk di Situbondo, yang merupakan pusat kegiatan sehari-hari di mana perempuan Madura mendominasi sebagai pedagang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi partisipatif dan pendampingan, dengan fokus pada identifikasi berbagai jenis aset. Hasil - Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perempuan Madura memiliki beberapa aset, yaitu aset fisik, aset manusia, dan aset sosial dan kelembagaan. Proses pendampingan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran di antara para perempuan untuk memanfaatkan aset-aset tersebut untuk literasi digital agar lebih memahami moderasi beragama dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Implikasi - Metode ini menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan literasi digital dan kesadaran di antara kelompok-kelompok yang terpinggirkan untuk mempromosikan moderasi beragama dan memberdayakan kegiatan ekonomi mereka. Keaslian/Nilai - Penelitian ini adalah studi pertama yang mengeksplorasi integrasi literasi digital dan dakwah untuk moderasi beragama secara khusus di kalangan pedagang perempuan Madura di lingkungan pasar, menggunakan metode ABCD sebagai kerangka kerja intervensi.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat komunikasi interpersonal seorang remaja yang sedang mengalami kasus broken home yang banyak sekali kita jumpai. Penggunaan metode penelitian dalam studi ini yaitu metode kualitatif deskriptif dimana dengan cara konselor mengamati keseharian klien. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan konseli tetap merasakan kesedihan dan merasa sepi di beberapa keadaan yang membuat mereka menjadi seorang yang pendiam dan tertutup. Komunikasi yang baik yang terjalin dalam keluarga akan mempengaruhi keharmonisan suatu keluarga.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a high degree of cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity, which presents complex challenges in the implementation of Islamic da'wah. The conventional da'wah approach that tends to be homogeneous is considered incapable of answering the needs of a pluralist society. Therefore, multicultural da'wah emerged as an alternative that emphasized the importance of respecting diversity and inclusivity. This research aims to examine the concept of multicultural da'wah, its implementation in Indonesia, and its impact on the creation of social harmony. The research uses a qualitative method with an analytical descriptive approach. Data were collected through literature studies, in-depth interviews with religious leaders, and field observations on communities that implement multicultural da'wah. The results of the study show that multicultural da'wah emphasizes interreligious dialogue, tolerance-based character education, and the use of social media as the main means of conveying the message of da'wah. Intensive interfaith dialogue helps create space for mutual respect, reduce prejudice, and strengthen solidarity in a diverse society. Multicultural education also plays an important role in instilling the values of tolerance from an early age. Meanwhile, social media has proven to be an effective platform to reach the younger generation, expand the reach of da'wah, and increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining social harmony. This study also found several challenges that hinder the effectiveness of multicultural da'wah, including resistance from conservative groups who still adhere to traditional approaches and low understanding of multicultural literacy among preachers. The conclusion of this study is that multicultural da'wah is relevant as a strategic approach in creating an inclusive, fair, and harmonious society in Indonesia. By integrating multicultural education, interfaith dialogue, and modern technology, multicultural da'wah can strengthen peace and prevent conflicts stemming from identity differences.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah mampu memperluas jangkauan penyebaran pesan dakwah di berbagai patform media sosial, termasuk melalui siaran “Login” yang menggunakan pendekatan dialogis. Dakwah yang menggunakan media sosial mempermudah audiens untuk memberikan respon secara langsung melalui interaksi yang secara cepat bisa digunakan oleh dai (penyelenggara dakwah) maupun mad’uw (audiens). Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji respon audiens terhadap dakwah dialogis pada program dakwah “Login” di episode ke-15 tahun 2024. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi langsung terhadap komentar penonton. Analisis data dilakukan dengan model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa respon kognitif penonton mencerminkan penambahan pengetahuan, terutama dalam toleransi beragama. Respon afektif menunjukkan kepuasan dan kebahagiaan penonton terhadap dakwah dialogis yang memperluas wawasan dan menjawab permasalahan pemuda. Dari segi konatif, penonton menunjukkan keinginan untuk terus mengikuti dan menunggu episode selanjutnya. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa pendekatan dakwah dialogis mampu menarik perhatian dan memberikan dampak positif bagi audiens atau mad’uw.
