Abstract

Entering the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era, science learning in elementary schools faces the challenge of becoming more digital, contextual, and meaningful. However, conventional approaches that are still predominantly textual and abstract are considered less relevant to students' local culture and Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the urgency of an Islamic ethnoscience-based science learning approach as a solution to the gap between science material, culture, and spiritual values. This study employs a qualitative approach, with an exploratory case study conducted at an Islamic-based Elementary School in South Kalimantan from January to May 2025. Research participants included five science teachers, 3 Banjar cultural figures, 2 Islamic education experts, and students in grades IV–VI. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies of teachers, cultural figures, and Islamic education experts. The results show that conventional science learning has not explicitly linked the material to the local culture (the Banjar tribe) and Islamic values, resulting in low student engagement and a lack of meaning. The Islamic ethnoscience approach is considered capable of integrating cultural, religious, and technological values through digital learning media such as interactive e-books and contextual content based on the Quran. This research makes a significant contribution to developing a science education paradigm that is more grounded in spirituality and adaptable to the challenges of modern technology-based education.

Abstract

The background of this research is the low participation of students in the learning process, which has an impact on poor conceptual understanding. Therefore, this research aims to improve students' conceptual understanding through the application of the Learning Start with a Question (LSQ) strategy assisted by Question Card Media in the subject of IPAS. This type of research uses the Classroom Action Research model. This research took place in Class V State Elementary Madrasah 7 Bandar Lampung. The research took place in two cycles consisting of the planning stage, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection on the material of Knowing the Location and Nature of Indonesia. The findings of the study indicated that the application of the LSQ method assisted by question cards was effective in improving students' conceptual understanding in IPAS learning. There was a significant increase in students' conceptual understanding from cycle I to cycle II, with the level of activity reaching a peak of 92.5% in cycle II. Students' understanding also experienced a positive increase from cycle to cycle. The number of students who achieved the Learning Objectives Achievement Criteria increased in each cycle, with cycle 1 at 81% increasing to 92.5% in cycle II. The reflection and adjustment process in each cycle made a positive contribution to the success of the learning method. The implications of this study include the potential application of the Learning Starts With A Question method assisted by Question Card media to improve students' understanding, participation, and activeness in IPAS learning.

Abstract

This study seeks to evaluate the impact of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model, facilitated by mind mapping media, on enhancing students' creativity in science education. This research employs a quasi-experimental approach utilizing a nonequivalent control group design. This research was carried out in fourth grade at State Elementary Madrasah 2 in Bandar Lampung. Data acquisition via assessments, interviews, and observations. The analysis of data involves quantitative assessment utilizing the independent samples t-test. The study's results demonstrate a substantial and favorable impact of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model, facilitated by mind mapping media, on students' creativity in science subjects. The findings stem from the independent sample t-test, revealing a significance value of 0.000, which is less than the significance threshold of 0.05. Moreover, the creativity of students engaged in the mind mapping-assisted project-based learning model was quantitatively superior to that of students involved in conventional learning. The substantial disparity in the average posttest scores between the experimental group (mean = 16.82) and the control group (mean = 12.18) is apparent. The efficacy of the Mind Mapping-assisted PjBL model in fostering creativity derives from the synergy between the student-centered learning paradigm and the application of visual cognitive tools. Project-based learning fosters a genuine and demanding educational atmosphere, motivating students to engage in exploration, collaboration, and problem-solving. Mind mapping is an effective tool for promoting non-linear thinking, visually organizing complex ideas, and integrating the brain's logical and creative functions.

Abstract

This study was conducted to address the low critical thinking skills of third-grade students at MIN 6 Lampung Utara in learning arithmetic operations with whole numbers. Many students experience difficulties in mathematics because the learning process is still teacher-centered and focuses only on memorizing formulas without encouraging critical thinking. Finding out how well the open-ended learning approach helps students develop their critical thinking abilities is the aim of this study. This study used a posttest-only control design using a quantitative, quasi-experimental methodology. The population consisted of 79 students of grade III, while the sample was taken through cluster sampling, namely class III A as the control group and class III C as the experimental group. Data were collected using an essay test consisting of ten questions that measured critical thinking skills. The analysis was carried out using normality and homogeneity tests as prerequisites, followed by an independent sample t-test with SPSS version 26. The results showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The mean posttest score of the experimental class was 85.19, higher than the control class with 80.83. A significant difference between the two groups was indicated by the t-test's significance value of 0.003 (<0.05). In comparison to the discovery learning model, it can be said that the open-ended learning approach is more successful at developing students' critical thinking abilities. This implies that the use of learning models that involve students actively in problem-solving can improve learning outcomes and foster higher-order thinking skills in elementary school mathematics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pemanfaatan Artificial Intelligence (AI) dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) melalui pendekatan systematic literature review. Empat fokus utama dikaji, yakni manfaat AI, tantangan implementasi, model penerapan, serta implikasi bagi keberlanjutan pendidikan. Hasil telaah menunjukkan bahwa AI berkontribusi signifikan dalam memfasilitasi personalisasi materi, mempercepat asesmen formatif, serta menyediakan learning analytics yang mendukung pengambilan keputusan instruksional berbasis data. Namun, penerapannya di MI masih menghadapi kendala serius berupa keterbatasan infrastruktur digital, rendahnya literasi dan kesiapan guru, serta isu etika dan nilai Islami. Berbagai model relevan, seperti ChatGPT, chatbot, Bing AI, menawarkan solusi kontekstual, tetapi efektivitasnya sangat dipengaruhi oleh desain pedagogis, dukungan institusional, dan ketersediaan sumber daya. Implikasi penggunaan AI menegaskan perlunya reformasi profesionalisme guru, kurikulum yang lebih adaptif, tata kelola data yang aman, serta pengembangan kerangka etika berbasis maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah agar selaras dengan visi pendidikan Islam. Dengan demikian, integrasi AI di MI tidak sekadar inovasi teknologis, melainkan harus diposisikan sebagai bagian dari reformasi pendidikan yang holistik, etis, dan berkelanjutan. Kajian ini berkontribusi dalam menyediakan peta literatur komprehensif serta rekomendasi praktis bagi guru, pembuat kebijakan, dan pemangku kepentingan untuk mendukung transformasi digital madrasah yang inklusif dan berkeadilan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) model as an alternative learning to improve students' understanding of science concepts and process skills. All experimental designs with the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design were applied to this study. Population were all fourth-grade students at MI Nurul Islam, South Lampung. The sampling technique used non-probability sampling, with class IV A as the experimental class and class IV B as the control class. The instrument for understanding the science concept was description test and SPS assessment with a practicum observation sheet. Statistical data processing techniques were carried out descriptively and inferentially with hypothesis testing using multivariate of variance (MANOVA) with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that the average value of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. Likewise, the results of hypothesis testing show that there is an increase in conceptual understanding and science process skills in the experimental class compared to the control class. It can be concluded that the POE learning model can be used as an alternative to improve students' understanding of science science concepts and process skills in elementary schools. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh munculnya gejala kecemasan belajar yang dialami peserta didik kelas V di SDN 1 Beringin Raya Bandar Lampung, seperti rasa pesimis, takut tampil, kesulitan berkonsentrasi, serta kurang percaya diri. Kondisi ini berpengaruh pada proses pembelajaran dan pencapaian hasil belajar siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan proses penerapan pendekatan mindfulness dalam pembelajaran serta mengidentifikasi perubahan perilaku peserta didik dalam mengelola kecemasan belajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari guru kelas, guru bimbingan dan konseling, serta peserta didik. Kegiatan mindfulness dilakukan menggunakan metode STOP (Stop, Take a breath, Observe, Proceed) yang dilaksanakan secara rutin dalam empat sesi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perubahan positif pada peserta didik setelah penerapan mindfulness, di antaranya peningkatan fokus, munculnya ketenangan, keberanian untuk tampil di depan kelas, serta berkurangnya kecemasan belajar secara bertahap. Selain itu, penerapan mindfulness juga berkontribusi terhadap terciptanya suasana kelas yang lebih kondusif dan mendukung kesiapan mental siswa dalam mengikuti pembelajaran. Temuan ini memberikan gambaran bahwa pendekatan mindfulness dapat menjadi salah satu strategi efektif untuk membantu peserta didik mengurangi kecemasan belajar sekaligus mendukung terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang sehat secara psikologis.

Abstract

Learning in elementary schools is still dominated by the expository method, in which teachers explain while students passively listen, take notes, and complete assignments. This teacher-centered approach restricts the development of students’ critical thinking skills. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model in improving the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students in the science subject at SDN 31 Negeri Katon Pesawaran. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The sample consisted of 37 students, with 17 students in the control class applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and 20 students in the experimental class using the RADEC model. The research instrument was a critical thinking skills test in the form of pretest and post-test, consisting of five essay questions. Data analysis included prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity) and an independent sample t-test. The results indicated a significance value of p = 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05 (p < 0.05), suggesting a significant difference between the two groups. These findings demonstrate that the RADEC model is more effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills compared to the PBL model.

Abstract

Collaborative skills are essential for learning. Teacher-centered learning often leads to students lack of active participation in learning activities, resulting in low collaborative skills. One way to improve students collaborative skills is by implementing a round-robin learning model. This model provides equal opportunities for all students to learn in groups, preventing any single student from dominating. This study aimed to determine the effect of the round-robin learning model on students' collaborative skills. This study was conducted at MIN 1 West Lampung. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling technique, with 65 students each in the experimental and control classes. The instrument used was a collaboration skills questionnaire. This study shows the results of the post-test data hypothesis test using an independent sample t-test with a significance level of 5% (0.05) showing a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.038 which means that there is a rejection of H0 and acceptance of H1. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the round robin learning model on improving collaboration skills between students in class IV MIN 1 West Lampung.

Abstract

Teachers are professional educators with the main task of educating, teaching, guiding, directing, training, assessing, and evaluating students in every teaching and learning process in schools. In the learning process, various skills are needed for the continuity of the learning process, one of which is the skill of making lesson plans. The skill of a teacher in making lesson plans determines the learning outcomes that will be accepted by students. This study aims to analyze the effect of RADEC-based workshop activities in improving the skills of elementary school teachers to make good lesson plans. This study uses the One Group pretest posttest method with a sample of elementary school teachers in Purwakarta Regency. The instrument used is the result of adaptation of the assessment of the learning implementation plan in the PPG program. There are seven indicators used in the instrument used. The results showed that the RADEC model had an impact on teachers in developing learning planning skills. The average n-gain score obtained from this study was 58 which was categorized as quite effective.
