Abstract

A decline in moral is among the impacts of technological development. For this reason, Thomas Lickona and Lawrence Kohlberg developed a concept of moral development, a concept which has also been discussed in the Holy Quran. Lickona stated that moral development stages are started with the ownership of moral knowledge (moral knowing) and move to moral feeling and moral action. Kohlberg stated that there are six stages in moral development. The stages are in three phases. First phase is called pre-conventional, which consists of stage 1 and stage 2. In this phase, people are more concerned about being right and wrong and getting reward or punishment. The next phase is called conventional phase, which consists of stage 3 and stage 4. In this level, people are more driven by internal motivation and how they are perceived by society. The final phase is post conventional phase, consisting of stage 5 and stage 6. In this level, people are able to independently interpret moral values and are driven by more universal values. The Quran divided the stages into some classes which are mentioned as ulul ilm (those of knowledge), ulin nuha (those of intelligence), ulil abshar (those of vision), ulil albab (those of understanding), ulil amri (those in authority), ulil aidi (those of strength) dan ulil azmi (those of determination).

Abstract

This study is based on the problem of difficulties in reading letters experienced by phase A Indonesian Migrant Worker children in Malaysia. This happens because of the lack of learning media that can support learning activities. With this problem, the purpose of this study is to identify the effect of letter card media in overcoming difficulties in reading letters in Phase A Indonesian Migrant Worker children in Malaysia. Immigrant children often face language barriers that affect their literacy skills, including letter recognition. Letter card media as a visual and interactive learning tool is expected to facilitate the learning process of reading letters effectively. The type of research used is quantitative research with data collection techniques using pretest and posttest, as well as observation of learning activities, teacher and student interviews, and documentation as a supporting tool and can be used as an archive as evidence of research implementation. The results showed that the use of letter card media was significantly able to improve the ability to read letters in Indonesian Migrant Worker children which can be seen from the results of data analysis tests using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t tests. The t test results showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means the hypothesis is accepted. This media not only attracts children's interest in learning, but also helps them to understand the importance of learning.

Abstract

This study examines the classroom facility design in outstanding public and private elementary schools in Sumenep Regency, Indonesia, to describe the management of classroom resources that impact student effectiveness, engagement, and creativity during the learning process. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a multi-case study design, data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews with teachers and school principals. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman's model of data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal that three of the five schools studied provided comprehensive literacy facilities and diverse thematic classrooms tailored to grade levels, while two had more basic facilities. Classroom arrangements differed between the lower and upper grades, with the upper classes featuring more structured resources that supported independent learning. These findings underscore the importance of adaptive classroom design in enhancing student learning success within the local context of Sumenep Regency. The study's findings offer valuable insights for educators and policymakers seeking to improve elementary school facilities.

Abstract

Character education is an inseparable part of the educational process, especially at the elementary school level. One of the efforts undertaken by SDN Padike III Talango to foster students’ discipline is through the implementation of the daily 3S routine (smile, greet, salute). This study aims to describe the role of teachers in carrying out the 3S activities, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and formulate strategies to ensure the program runs consistently and sustainably. The method used is qualitative research with data collection techniques including participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that teachers serve as role models, motivators, facilitators, as well as activity managers who actively encourage the development of discipline among students. The regular implementation of 3S has proven effective in creating a friendlier, more orderly, and more conducive school environment, and it contributes to reducing conflicts among students. Supporting factor for the program’s success include exemplary leadership from the principal and teachers, consistent implementation, and parental involvement. Barriers encountered include inconsistency among some students, external environmental influences, and the diverse backgrounds of families. The daily 3S routine can be an effective strategy for instilling students’ disciplinary character when implemented consistently and supported by all school members as well as parents.
