Abstract

Distance Education has great potential to become a model for the world's future education. The rapid development of technology, the demands of the global professional world, as well as various extraordinary events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic which could recur at any time, are the main reasons for the need to implement distance education. Therefore, to maintain the existence of distance education, research is needed that can look at perceptions of brand equity, namely brand awareness and brand association with perceived quality. This research aims to explain how society accepts open and distance state colleges, particularly among students in Indonesia. The research subjects were 812 respondents obtained through probability sampling using multistage random sampling from three regions in Indonesia, namely Vocational High School Bina Warga Bandung representing western Indonesia, Public High School 16 Makassar representing Central Indonesia, and Public High School 1 Jayapura representing the eastern part of Indonesia. The results of the research show that there is a strong relationship between brand awareness and community brand association on the desire to continue studying at open and distance higher education institutions. This research providing recommendations for PTJJ should not only focus on promotion/marketing strategies to increase interest in continuing community studies at PTJJ but also focus on strategies that can increase brand equity.

As a solution, digital brochures can be a new medium for presenting products offered by universities as a cutting-edge innovation. Therefore, this research was conducted to design a creative digital brochure that contains local wisdom. In-depth interviews with prospective millennial students and the marketing team were conducted to obtain appropriate design input. Comprehensive results were obtained through this research which included components, the procedure, and design of creative digital brochures that are more attractive, and persuasive, and have the potential to increase the interest of the millennial generation in choosing Universitas Terbuka. The presence of this creative digital brochure can be an alternative branding tool to persuade the wider community, especially the millennial generation who are one of the main target markets.

Abstract

Background: YouTube Shorts has rapidly become one of the most consumed digital formats among children due to its short duration, fast-paced visual stimuli, and algorithm-driven recommendations. While these characteristics make Shorts highly engaging, they also increase the risk of repeated exposure to violent cartoon content, which may influence children’s behavior through imitation and desensitization.Aims: This study aims to identify the forms of violence present in popular YouTube Shorts cartoons and analyze their potential to be imitated by early childhood–aged children, as well as examine the role of YouTube’s algorithm in reinforcing repeated exposure.Method: A qualitative content analysis approach was employed to examine 90 YouTube Shorts videos selected through purposive sampling from three popular categories: Roblox animations, Squid Game parody animations, and Tung-Tung Sahur meme-style animations. Each video was coded based on indicators of physical, symbolic, and verbal violence. Results: All analyzed videos contained recurrent violent cues, with physical chasing sequences accounting for 32%, symbolic harm for 29%, threat-based elimination for 21%, and verbal aggression for 18%. These elements were often presented humorously or as challenges, increasing their likelihood of being imitated by children. Algorithmic reinforcement further intensified exposure by repeatedly recommending similar content, contributing to desensitization and the strengthening of aggressive behavioral scripts. Conclusion: The findings indicate that YouTube Shorts cartoons contribute to the development of aggressive tendencies in young viewers through repeated portrayals of violence. The study underscores the need for stronger parental mediation, improved platform moderation, and digital literacy education. Future research should include larger samples and cross-platform analyses to better understand long-term behavioral impacts.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed both the strengths and limits of government crisis and risk communication digitally connected but socially diverse societies such as Indonesia. Rapid dissemination was achieved, yet misinformation, declining trust, and uneven digital literacy constrained public engagement. This study examines digital literacy as a mediating factor between information provision and citizen empowerment during Indonesia’s pandemic response. Using a case study of central government communication, it analyzes regulations, public messaging, and digital engagement practices to refine an existing crisis and risk communication model. By integrating the Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC) framework and Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT), the research highlights how transparency, participation, and inclusivity can be systematically embedded into government communication. Findings shows that digital literacy is not only a technical skill but also a socio-political resource shaping trust, compliance, and resilience. The proposed model shift emphasis from one-way information delivery toward participatory, trust-based, and digitally inclusive practices. While grounded in Indonesia, the study offers comparative insights for other contexts where digital innovation intersects with fragile trust and uneven preparedness. This study contributes theoretically by extending CERC and SCCT with a literacy dimension, and practically by outlining pathways for governments to foster resilience through digital literacy initiatives.

Abstract

Abstract

Echo Chamber and Filter Bubble are two subjects now under extensive discussion. The growing prevalence of social media in recent years underscores the potential effects of the Echo Chamber and Filter Bubble phenomena. One of them is the conflict raging on social media. The attributes of the Echo Chamber and Filter Bubble can influence the prevalence of war flame on social media. This study aimed to examine the impact of the Echo Chamber and Filter Bubble on War Flaming. This study used a quantitative methodology to investigate the relationship among the three ideas. The sample was chosen through selective sampling, comprising 100 respondents identified as flame perpetrators. The study's results indicate a significant correlation between Echo Chamber and Filter Bubble phenomena and the prevalence of war flame on social media. This study demonstrates that Echo Chamber and Filter Bubble significantly influence War Flaming. Echo Chamber (X1) and Filter Bubble (X2) collectively account for 41.8% of the variance in War Flaming (Y). The results indicate that preventing war escalation is challenging due to the existence of echo chambers and filter bubbles, unless stringent content restriction policies are implemented by social media companies and enhanced self-awareness is cultivated from an early age through familial, social, and educational influences.
