Abstract

Background: Learning from home is a government policy to decrease the number of COVID-19 in Indonesia. This condition requires university students to adapt to new technology that has the potential to affect sleep and consumption patterns that will influence their nutritional status. Objectives: The purpose of the study was to analyze the relationship between energy, macro-nutrient consumption, and sleep duration with the nutritional status of new students of FKM UNAIR. Methods: The research was an observational study with a cross-sectional design. A total of 55 students were randomly selected to be the research sample. Research data collection was done by using Google Forms. Research data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. Results: Most of the new FKM UNAIR students were female (87.3%), had sleep duration <7 hours/day (56.4%), and had normal nutritional status (69.1%). Most of the respondents had less intake of energy (47.3%), fat (54.5%), carbohydrates (60%), and excess protein intake (52.7%). The statistical tests showed that energy intake (p-value = 0.426), macronutrients including protein (p-value = 0.170), fat (p-value = 0.129), and carbohydrates (p-value = 0.884), also sleep duration (p-value = 0.190) was not related to the nutritional status of new students of FKM UNAIR. Conclusions: There was no correlation between energy intake, macronutrients, and sleep duration with the nutritional status of new FKM UNAIR students. Instead, students should pay attention to the duration of sleep and intake following the principles of balanced nutrition.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate effect of Coleus amboinicus (CA) stem extracts on uric acid-induced nephropathy by comparingthe levels of Macrophage CD-68 expression and concentration of serum Cystatine C (CYS C ) in Wistar rats. Twenty-four male Wistar rats(Rattus norvegicus) with a body weight (bw) of 200-250 g, were allocated into three groups, with eight animals per group. The rats in controlgroup (PO) received 0.1% carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) solution orally The rats in group 2 (P1) were orally induced with uric acid (UA) (500mg/kg) and oxonic acid (OA) (750 mg/kg.) and the rats in group 3 (P2) received uric acid (500 mg/kg), oxonic acid (750 mg/kg), and 500 mg/kgof the CA stem extracts for 35 days. Bloods were collected for analysis of serum CYS C expression and concentration of serum creatinine andblood nitrogen urea (BUN). The rats in all groups were sacrificed for kidney tissue extractions for macrophage CD-68 identification andhistopathology analysis. The levels of CYS C concentrations were analyzed by Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) Sandwich-ELISA. Theresults showed that Coleus amboinicus stem extract at dose of 500 mg/kg bw can significantly reduce BUN and creatinine levels (P≤0.05), whileCys C levels were not different. In the treatment group (P2) compared with group (P1). CD-68 (ED-1) macrophage activity decreasedsignificantly (P≤0.05) in the treatment group (P2) compared to the control group and (P1). Nephrophaty induction using UA and OA causessevere kidney lesions characterized by degeneration, necrosis and inflammation of the renal tubules and glomerulus in the treatment group.

Abstract

Introduction: Fulfilling the basic needs of children (education, love and care) can influence the growth and development of children in a positive direction. This study was aimed to analyze the relationship between the patterns of education, love, and care given by mothers with the growth and development of children at 3-5 years in the Mulyorejo Sub-District, Surabaya. Method: This study was cross-sectional design with 72 children aged 3-5 years old as sample and   selected using simple random sampling. The data were collected from primary sources by interviewing mothers of children about her knowledge and the pattern of education, love, and care, measuring children’s anthropometry and interviewing Pre-Screening Questionnaire Test with children. The data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. Result: showed there was no relationship between education pattern (p = 0.122) and love pattern (p = 0.56) with child development. There was a correlation between consumption pattern (as a care pattern) of animal side dish with weight for age (p = 0.041; OR = -0.242), fruit consumption with weight for age (p = 0.010; OR = -0.301), and fruit consumption with weight for height (p = 0.025; OR = -0.264). Conclusion: Although there is no relationship between education and love patterns with child  development, in the care pattern, the consumption pattern of animal and fruit side dishes is proven to be related to the growth of children.

Abstract

Maternal self-efficacy in parenting is often associated with complementary feeding practices. Maternal and external factors influence the level of maternal self-efficacies. This study aimed to measure the relationship between family supports and maternal factors with complementary feeding self-efficacy for children aged 6-24 months. The survey research has a cross-sectional design. The research subjects were 74 mothers who were selected using simple random sampling. Data collection was carried out in the work area of Kalirungkut Public Health Centers for one month. Family support variables, maternal factors, and maternal self-efficacy were collected using a questionnaire, and then the data on each variable was processed by editing data, coding, and tabulating. The data analysis with Chi-square test and logistic regression on 95% CI. The results of this study were that age (p=0,872), parity (p=0,660), knowledge (p=0,252), informational (p=0,135), and instrumental support (p=1,000) were not related to maternal self-efficacy. There was a significant relationship between education (p=0,040), emotional (p=0,027), and appraisal support (p=0,020) with maternal self-efficacy. Appraisal support is the dominant factor affecting children's complementary feeding self-efficacy (p<0,05; OR=3,711). The conclusion is that education, emotional support, and appraisal support are significantly related, and appraisal support affects complementary feeding self-efficacy.

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnant women class is one of the nutrition education programs and its success can be assessed by its outcomes. Aims: to evaluate the outcome of nutrition education in pregnant women class at individual level in Surabaya on 2019. Method: This research was a descriptive qualitative study using purposive sampling technique to each informant in 4 public health services (Puskesmas) in Surabaya that is Kedungdoro, Wonokusumo, Siwalankerto and Asemworo. Informants in this study were 2 staff from Family Health and Community Nutrition Section at Health Department of Surabaya, 4 nutrition workers, 7 midwives, 4 pregnant women cadres and 9 pregnant women class participants in 2019. Result: show that outcome of nutrition education in pregnant women class program at individual level is mothers’ behavior in consuming high iron foods increase during pregnancy, frequency and portions of mother's meals increase during pregnancy and breastfeeding, mother’s practice of EIB and exclusive breastfeeding. Conclusion: Effect of the nutrition education in pregnant women class on compliance with consuming iron supplementation tablets and PMT biscuit for pregnant women is not yet known and needs to be studied further.

Abstract

Background: The Study from Home implementation due to the Covid-19 pandemic has triggered lifestyle changes, especially in physical activities and consumption frequency. The increased use of gadgets triggers changes in sleep quality, resulting in excessive daytime sleepiness. Changes in unhealthy and inadequate food consumption can impact insufficient nutritional needs.Purpose: Knowing the relationship between physical activity and Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) with consumption frequency in nutrition students of Universitas Airlangga during the Covid-19 pandemic.Method: The research was an analytical observational study with cross-sectional design. The research sample was 145 nutrition students who met the inclusion criteria and were obtained through simple random sampling. Data collection instruments used the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and Food Frequency Questionnaire. Data analysis used the Spearman correlation test.Results: The majority of respondents are 20 years old (46.9%), female (93.1%), light physical activity (57.9%), normal sleepiness level (60.0%), often consume staple-foods (73.8%), side-dishes (83.4%), vegetables (64.1%), and rarely consume fruit (57.9%), energy-dense foods (67.6%). There is no relationship between physical activity (p>0.05) and EDS (p>0.05) with consumption frequency.Conclusion: There is no relationship between physical activity and EDS with consumption frequency in nutrition students during the Covid-19 pandemic.Suggestion: It is necessary to increase physical activity, improve sleep quality, and consumption frequency according to balanced nutrition guidelines during the Covid-19 pandemic.Keywords: College Student; Covid-19 Pandemic; Excessive Daytime Sleepiness; Meal Frequency; Physical ActivityPendahuluan: Penerapan Study from Home akibat pandemi Covid-19 memicu perubahan gaya hidup, terutama aktivitas fisik dan frekuensi konsumsi. Peningkatan penggunaan gadget memicu perubahan kualitas tidur yang mengarahkan pada kantuk berlebihan di siang hari. Perubahan konsumsi makan tidak sehat dan tidak adekuat akan berdampak pada ketidakcukupan kebutuhan gizi. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara aktivitas fisik dan Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) dengan frekuensi makan mahasiswa gizi Universitas Airlangga selama pandemi Covid-19.Metode: Jenis penelitian observasional analitik dengan desain cross sectional. Sampel penelitian sebesar 145 mahasiswa yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan diperoleh secara simple random sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, dan Food Frequency Questionnaire. Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman.Hasil: Mayoritas responden berusia 20 tahun (46,9%), perempuan (93,1%), aktivitas fisik ringan (57,9%), tingkat kekantukan normal (60,0%), sering mengonsumsi makanan pokok (73,8%), lauk-pauk (83,4%), sayuran (64,1%), serta jarang mengonsumsi buah (57,9%), makanan padat energi (67,6%). Tidak terdapat hubungan antara aktivitas fisik (p>0,05) dan EDS (p>0,05) dengan frekuensi konsumsi.Simpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan antara aktivitas fisik dan EDS dengan frekuensi konsumsi mahasiswa gizi selama pandemi Covid-19.Saran: Diperlukan peningkatan aktivitas fisik, perbaikan kualitas tidur, dan frekuensi konsumsi sesuai pedoman gizi seimbang selama pandemi Covid-19.

Abstract

Anak prasekolah memerlukan kondisi dan stimulasi yang sesuai untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang optimal. Perhatian terhadap nutrisi dan pola makan yang tepat sangat penting untuk mendukung tumbuh kembang anak. Namun, seringkali terdapat masalah kesulitan makan pada anak, seperti perilaku picky eater, yang berdampak pada status gizi anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara perilaku picky eater dengan status gizi pada anak prasekolah di Kecamatan Buduran, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan desain cross-sectional yang dilakukan pada bulan Juni tahun 2023. Jumlah populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 198 siswa dengan besar sampel sebanyak 64 siswa. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik proportional random sampling. Pengumpulan data meliputi pengukuran antropometri dan pengisian kuesioner Child Eating Behaviour Questionnaire. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Spearman Rank Correlation. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 51,6% subjek memiliki perilaku picky eater. Sebagian besar subjek dalam penelitian ini memiliki status gizi yang tergolong berat badan normal dan gizi baik. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara perilaku picky eater dengan status gizi BB/U (p=0,018), namun tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dengan status gizi IMT/U (p=0,105). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin anak tidak memiliki perilaku picky eater, maka semakin tinggi Z-score status gizi (BB/U) pada anak prasekolah. Sebaiknya orang tua tetap mendukung proses tumbuh kembang anak secara optimal dengan cara memerhatikan pola makan dan asupan nutrisi anak.

Abstract

Keragaman konsumsi didefinisikan sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan asupan yang meliputi beberapa jenis kelompok bahan pangan agar mencapai kebutuhan zat gizi harian sesuai pedoman dan menjamin terciptanya kesehatan yang optimal. Pada kelompok usia remaja, mereka sudah memiliki kebebasan untuk memilih makanan yang ingin dikonsumsi, sehingga banyak aspek yang dapat memengaruhi terciptanya pola konsumsi yang beragam maupun sebaliknya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan frekuensi makan, tingkat pendidikan dan besar uang saku dengan keragaman konsumsi pangan pada remaja Suku Tengger. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain cross sectional. Pengumpulan data dilakukan mulai dari Bulan April-November 2021 dengan menggunakan kuesioner online berupa google form mengingat penelitian ini dilakukan pada masa pandemi Covid-19. Kuesioner tersebut ditujukan kepada populasi remaja Suku Tengger yang tinggal di Desa Wonokitri, Kecamatan Tosari, Kabupaten Pasuruan dengan kriteria usia 13-19 tahun dan bersedia mengikuti penelitian. Populasi remaja Suku Tengger sebanyak 150 orang dan didapatkan besar sampel yaitu 99 responden dengan teknik sampling studi partisipatif yakni berdasarkan responden yang mengisi kuesioner online. Hasil uji chi-square menampilkan nilai yang tidak signifikan antara frekuensi makan (p=0,430), tingkat pendidikan (p=0,147) dan besar uang saku (p=0,180) dengan keragaman konsumsi pangan remaja Suku Tengger. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah tidak terdapat hubungan antara frekuensi makan, tingkat pendidikan dan besar uang saku dengan keragaman konsumsi pangan pada remaja Suku Tengger. Konsumsi pangan beragam mayoritas terdapat pada responden dengan frekuensi makan lebih sedikit, serta tingkat pendidikan dan besar uang saku yang lebih kecil.

Abstract

Di masyarakat, persepsi ibu tentang stunting sering dianggap sebagai penyakit keturunan dari keluarga. Persepsi ibu yang kurang tepat akan mempengaruhi perawatan serta pemberian pola makan anak sehingga anak tidak mendapatkan tumbuh kembang yang baik. Teori Health Belief Model (HBM) dapat mengukur seberapa dalam tingkat persepsi ibu tentang pemahaman dan kesadaran dalam menerapkan perawatan atau perilaku pencegahan stunting. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menganalisis hubungan persepsi ibu dan pola makan balita dengan kejadian stunting berdasarkan teori HBM. Penelitian observasional analitik dengan desain case control. Lokasi penelitian di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sumbersari Kabupaten Jember dilakukan pada bulan Maret 2023 dengan perbandingan besar sampel kasus:kontrol yaitu 1:2. Populasi balita tahun 2022 di kecamatan Sumbersari sebesar 683, sehingga didapatkan jumlah ibu balita stunting sebagai kasus adalah 31 orang dan ibu balita tidak stunting sebagai kontrol adalah 62 orang. Penentuan ibu dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Variabel persepsi ibu didapatkan melalui pengisian kuesioner yang telah teruji validitas dan reabilitasnya. Penentuan ibu dengan anak balita stunting melalui pengukuran Z-Score Indeks Tinggi Badan Menurut Umur (TB/U). Analisis data menggunakan uji statistik chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan pada persepsi yang meliputi persepsi kerentanan (p=0.028); keparahan (p=0.003); hambatan (p=0.036); self-efficacy (p=0.018); dengan kejadian stunting di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sumbersari. Sementara itu persepsi manfaat tidak menunjukkan adanya hubungan dengan kejadian stunting (p=0.551). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah semakin rendah persepsi kerentanan, keparahan, self-efficacy serta semakin tinggi persepsi hambatan, berhubungan dengan angka stunting di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sumbersari kecenderungan balita mengalami stunting.

Abstract

Mahasiswa Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat (FKM) telah dibekali ilmu mengenai kesehatan dan gizi selama perkuliahan. Akan tetapi pada mahasiswa FKM masih ditemukan permasalahan gizi. Terdapat berbagai faktor yang mempengaruhi status gizi mahasiswa diantaranya stress akademik dan perilaku makan yang berlebihan (emotional eating) yang diakibatkan bukan dari rasa lapar, melainkan untuk mengatasi stress tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan stress akademik dan emotional eating dengan status gizi pada mahasiswa FKM Unair tingkat akhir.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan desain cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa S1 tingkat akhir angkatan 2018, 2017, dan 2016 Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat Universitas Airlangga dengan besar sampel sebanyak 46 mahasiswa. Cara pengambilan sampel menggunakan proportional random sampling., sehingga didapatkan proporsi 16 mahasiswa gizi dan 30 mahasiswa kesehatan Masyarakat.Data diperoleh melalui kuesioner google form dan pengukuran antropometri dengan self-report. Data yang berdistribusi normal dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji korelasi pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara stress akademik (p=0,040) (r=0,304) (RR=1,900) dan emotional eating (p=0,010) (r=0,378) (RR1,125) dengan status gizi. Mahasiswa tingkat akhir yang memiliki stress yang tinggi dan mengalami emotional eating cenderung memiliki status gizi lebih. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan manajemen stress yang baik bagi mahasiswa tingkat akhir agar status gizi dapat terkontrol dengan baik.
