Abstract

The low understanding ability of students in learning science and science is the main factor in conducting this research. This is due to the lack of meaningfulness in science learning. This research aims to determine the increase in students' mastery of concepts and responsibilities after implementing problem-based learning. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental design with a Non-Equivalent Control Group design. In this study, the population in Cimahi City was taken and the sample used in this study was grade IV elementary school students in one of the schools in Cimahi Tengah District. Learning outcome tests, questionnaires and documentation are some of the data collection techniques used. Data were processed using the SPSS 23 application with normality test, homogeneity test, paired sample T test, independent sample T test and n-gain test. The results of this research show that class IV students' mastery of concepts has improved results between the experimental class that received treatment and the control class that did not receive treatment. Likewise, the responsibilities of class IV students have increased before implementing problem-based learning and after implementing this learning model.

Abstract

Latar belakang dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya hasil belajar siswa terhadap pemahaman konsep pada materi pecahan. Hal tersebut diketahui berdasarkan hasil pretest yang masih rendah dan ditemukan banyak kesalahan siswa dalam menjawab soal pada materi pecahan, seperti penulisan pecahan yang benar dan penulisan bentuk pecahan yang terbalik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media kartu pecahan sederhana terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi pecahan di kelas IV SDN Malaka Jaya 09. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen kuasi, yaitu kelas kartu pecahan sederhana dan pembelajaran konvensional. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa sekolah dasar kelas IV se-Kelurahan Malaka Jaya. Adapun sampel yang terpilih adalah SDN Malaka Jaya 09 yang terdiri 2 kelas, yaitu kelas kartu pecahan sederhana dengan jumlah siswa adalah 20 siswa dan kelas pembelajaran konvensional dengan jumlah siswa adalah 21 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah soal pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dalam penelitian ini maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa 1) pembelajaran menggunakan kartu pecahan sederhana dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi pecahan, 2) pembelajaran menggunakan konvensional dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi pecahan, 3) ada perbedaan pengaruh antara penggunaan kartu pecahan sederhana dan pembelajaran konvensional terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi pecahan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how science literacy before and after using the RADEC learning model, how the difference in the improvement of science literacy in the class used, namely the experimental class (RADEC model) and the control class (conventional model) and know how the implementation of science learning using the RADEC model on Human Digestive System material. The method used is Quasi Experiment with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. The population of this study was a school in North Sumedang District with a research sample of grade V students totaling 112 students consisting of 56 female students and 56 male students. The instruments used were test instruments and observation sheets. The research data were processed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS applications. The data analysis technique used to process data is the average measurement using Microsoft Excel while the normality test, homogeneity test, 2-group hypothesis test (t-test and U-test), and N-gain test using SPSS. The observation sheet instrument was processed by describing the research results based on objective conditions. Literacy before using the RADEC model obtained an average of 55.9 with the low category while afterward obtained an average of 80.4 with the high category. In addition, there is a difference in the improvement of science literacy between the experimental and control classes. The experimental class test scores had a greater increase than the control class. The experimental class had an average value of 0.55 while the control class with a value of 0.30 based on the N-Gain Test. RADEC learning steps are well implemented according to its stages starting from the (Read) stage the teacher asks students to read the material, (answer) students answer pre-learning questions, (discuss) students discuss in groups, (explain) students present the results, (create) students make simple works according to creativity.

Abstract

Bullying is a problem that can occur in educational settings. The existence of bullying in primary education can be the seed of other forms of violence. The role of educators in schools is needed in an effort to reduce the number of bullying through various strategies. This study aims to determine the effect of using character education-based animated videos on students' understanding based on two aspects, namely knowledge and awareness of bullying. The research subjects were high school students in Sumedang Regency. This study used a quantitative approach with a one group pretest-posttest design. The data collection instrument was a test administered to 96 students to measure the level of knowledge and awareness about bullying. The results of the paired t-test showed that the knowledge aspect obtained a value of p<0.05 (0.00<0.05) and the awareness aspect obtained a value of p<0.05 (0.00<0.05), meaning that there was a difference between the average score of the pre-test and post-test scores from the knowledge and awareness aspects. The use of character education-based animated videos significantly improved the knowledge and awareness of high school students towards bullying behavior.

Abstract

This study describes the process of developing VG-Plant learning media based on articulate storyline 3 on plant reproduction material in class IV elementary school. The purpose of this research is to determine the feasibility of VG-Plant media through the validation process of experts, measure the perception of media usability, and determine the compatibility of media on several different android version devices. The research was conducted using the Research and Development (R&D) method and the ADDIE model which goes through five stages, namely the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The subject of this research was 32 fourth grade students and the feasibility of material and media was taken from the validation of experts. The results of this study are VG-Plant learning media relevant to the needs of the science learning process in grade IV on plant reproduction material. VG-Plant media design is made in the form of a.apk file. VG-Plant media is calculated using the Content Validity Index (CVI) and has the feasibility of content and media quality with a scale of 1 and in the "relevant and feasible to use" category. Then, the usability of VG-Plant media is categorized as "Excellent" with a value of 88 which is calculated using the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire. And VG-Plant media has met compatibility standards in the aspects of adaptability and installability with a test percentage of 100% on several android versions. Thus, it can be concluded that VG-Plant media is feasible to use and can be operated on all devices with android specifications version 6 to android version 13.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how much the mathematical understanding of adding mixed fractions has increased for fifth grade elementary school students through learning Team Games Tournaments (TGT) using math quizzes. This research is a quantitative research with the research design used in the form of a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. This design has a control group, but it cannot function fully to control external variables that influence the implementation of the experiment. Elementary schools in Cirebon Regency were the research population, which was carried out using two randomly selected research samples, namely SDN 1 Kebarepan and SDN Tegalwangi 3. Student learning outcomes, questionnaires and supporting documentation were used to collect data for this research. After that the data was analyzed using SPSS 22 software which allows conclusions to be drawn through several stages including the absolute prerequisite test, paired sample T test, independent sample T test and complemented by the results of the n-gain test. The result of this research state that learning Teams Games Tournaments is quite effective in improving students' mathematical understanding of adding mixed fractions compared to conventional learning. Learning using TGT with the help of math quizzes is able to attract and increase student activity and enthusiasm.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji sejauh mana pengaruh model pembelajaran berdiferensiasi berbasis masalah terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa sekolah dasar, khususnya pada materi piktogram dan diagram batang. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan rancangan nonequivalent control group design. Subjek penelitian melibatkan siswa kelas IV dari dua sekolah dasar di wilayah Tasikmalaya. Satu kelas ditetapkan sebagai kelompok eksperimen yang memperoleh perlakuan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi berbasis masalah, sedangkan kelas lainnya menjadi kelompok kontrol yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes pemahaman konsep yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan (pretest dan posttest). Hasil analisis data menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok, di mana rata-rata nilai N-Gain kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa model pembelajaran berdiferensiasi berbasis masalah efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika, serta layak dipertimbangkan sebagai alternatif strategi pembelajaran yang adaptif terhadap keberagaman karakteristik peserta didik di tingkat sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the RME model assisted by culture-based student worksheet on mathematical understanding of multiplication and division material in class II elementary schools. This type of research uses quantitative quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest design. The research included class II students from select superior schools in the Rancakalong District, with two schools being chosen as samples for the study. In analyzing the data, assumption tests (normality and homogeneity), hypothesis testing and the N-Gain test were used. The instruments used were mathematical understanding tests as well as observation sheets of teacher performance and student activities. In this study, it was found that there was a positive influence of using the RME model assisted by culture-based student worksheet which resulted in an increase in N-Gain of 0.53 in the medium category. Then, based on the mean difference test carried out, it was concluded that there was a difference in the average of students' mathematical understanding in the RME model class assisted by culture-based student worksheet and the conventional model class with a better improvement in the experimental class.

Abstract

The background of this research highlights that students often struggle to understand the place value of numbers, as each digit in a number represents a value based on its position. This challenge arises because the learning process lacks the use of engaging media and relies heavily on one-way interactions. To address this issue, a teaching approach that incorporates media and promotes active student involvement is required. This research implements the STAD-type cooperative learning model assisted by a stick box to enhance students' understanding of place value concepts. The study employs a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design method, with fifth-grade students from public elementary schools in North Sumedang District as the population. The primary research instrument is an essay test designed to measure conceptual understanding, supplemented by non-test instruments such as observations and questionnaires to collect additional data. The findings indicate that the STAD-type cooperative learning model assisted by a stick box significantly improves students' understanding of the place value concept, with a gain score of 0.746 categorized as high. In contrast, the conventional learning model resulted in a gain score of 0.178, categorized as low. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in conceptual understanding of place value between students who learn using the STAD-type cooperative model with stick box assistance and those who engage in conventional learning methods.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to describe the results of designing number pattern questions used to measure the mathematical thinking abilities of students with a kinesthetic learning style. The research subjects consisted of 5 class VIII students with a kinesthetic learning style. The type of research is design research with 5 stages, namely: Preliminary Design, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Trial, Interview, and Retrospective Analysis. The data collection techniques are learning style questionnaires, tests and interviews. The data analysis used in the research is qualitative. Based on the results of the FGD, number pattern questions can be used to measure mathematical thinking abilities, because each question leads students to bring up specializing, generalizing, conjecturing and convincing aspects. Based on the test results, it is known that students can write specializing, generalizing, conjecturing, and convincing forms. Specializing is seen when students write the form of adding numbers for each term. Generalizing is seen when students find patterns by listing them one by one or using tables, conjecturing when they find the general formula, and convincing is seen when they find other ways to prove the answer. Based on the results of the interview, students' answers were obtained through the activity of managing and simulating questions using body parts.
