Abstract

Teachers possess a central role in shaping the quality of education by improving professional competence through Classroom Action Research (CAR) training. CAR enables teachers to conduct practical research in the classroom, identifying problems and finding concrete solutions. Training not only improves the teaching skills but also enhances the quality of classroom learning. Therefore, this research aimed to build the capacity for professional competence among teachers at Indonesian School of Kota Kinabalu (SIKK). It also improved the insight and action research skills in the school and Community Learning Center (CLC) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. Training strategy was carried out through blended learning both online and offline. The online training used Zoom platform and Google Classroom Learning Management System, while the offline model was performed in Kota Kinabalu. The methods included dialogue, games, direct practice, and assignments. The results showed that teachers' satisfaction with training services was due to the usefulness of the materials, relevance to the needs, and effective communication during training. The understanding and skills in CAR were also found to be increasing. Additionally, teachers needed to make behavioral changes in classroom learning by conducting CAR. This research finally showed that CAR and the publication of the results would improve the achievement and quality of education. The professional competence and CAR were interrelated concepts where CAR functioned as a method to help teachers identify and overcome learning problems in the classroom systematically and scientifically. Furthermore, the professionalism referred to the abilities, skills, and ethics passed by educators to carry out educational roles effectively, and with dignity when CAR was performed.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the results of KMO MSA analysis, Eigen Value, reliability, and Standard Error Measurement (SEm) between raw scores (original) and standardized scores (rescaling) through the summated rating scaling method on critical reasoning attitudes of vocational students in Yogyakarta City. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach involving 204 private vocational students as subjects. The instrument used to measure critical reasoning attitudes has gone through thorough validity and reliability testing before the research was carried out. The analysis process was carried out by calculating the KMO MSA, Eigen Value, reliability, and SEm values on both raw and standardized scores. The results of the two types of scores were then compared to identify any differences. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the raw score had a KMO MSA of 0.87, reliability of 0.823, and SEm of 0.337. After rescaling, the KMO MSA value decreased slightly to 0.86, the reliability also decreased slightly to 0.821, while the SEm increased to 0.406. Eigenvalue analysis showed that both the raw and standardized scores yielded seven factors with Eigenvalues greater than 1. The differences found between these two types of scores, namely 0.01 for KMO MSA, 0.002 for reliability, and -0.069 for SEm, indicate small but significant changes, especially in terms of the increase in SEm after rescaling, which impacts the level of measurement accuracy.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the content validity of an academic resilience instrument for junior high school students (SMP) that includes three main dimensions: perseverance, self-reflection and adaptive assistance, and negative affect and emotional responses. Through an assessment process by three experts using the Aiken's V technique, 45 out of 54 items (83.3%) were declared to have high content validity (Aiken's V ≥ 0.80), while the other nine items showed low validity (Aiken's V = 0.333) and were recommended for revision. These findings indicate that in general the instrument has met the criteria for adequate content validity and is suitable for use to measure the academic resilience of junior high school students. The main recommendation of this study is to maintain items that have been proven valid, and to conduct further revisions and empirical testing using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) or confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) methods to ensure the structure and internal consistency of the instrument statistically.

Abstract

This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive evaluative type to assess the effectiveness of the School Literacy Movement Program (GLS) in elementary schools in Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta. In this Context, reading literacy challenges are still evident in the uneven interest in reading, limited and diverse reading materials, variations in the readiness of school facilities/infrastructure, and parental involvement and consistency in implementing literacy activities. The study evaluated GLS using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model based on the perceptions of program implementers (principals and teachers). Data were collected through questionnaires from 9 principals and 54 teachers in 9 elementary schools and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 29 (mean and standard deviation). The results show Context = 3.55 (very good), Input = 3.35 (very good), Process = 3.10 (good), and Product = 3.50 (perfect). These findings confirm that GLS has a strong policy foundation and adequate resource support, followed by generally exemplary implementation, and contribute to improving students' reading literacy. The implementation of GLS at Gunung Kidul Elementary School is effective. However, it needs to be strengthened in terms of process, especially consistency of implementation, active student participation, diversification of reading materials, support from parents/community, and ensuring the sustainability of resources so that the program's impact is more equitable and sustainable.

Abstract

Despite the recognized importance of critical reading for academic success, elementary school students in Indonesia continue to demonstrate low proficiency in this skill, particularly in connecting texts with personal experiences and evaluating information critically. This gap is exacerbated by the limited integration of technology-based literacy models that simultaneously develop reading and writing competencies. This study aims to analyze the influence of WRITE (Writing-Reading Literacy Assisted Interactive and Reflective E-Book) learning models on critical reading skills of elementary school students. This study uses a quantitative method with the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach to analyze the relationship between the tested variables. The research instrument used questionnaires to measure various aspects of critical reading skills. The sample used in this study amounted to 71 students from elementary school in Magelang. The results showed that most of the hypotheses tested had significant relationships, especially in the aspects of analysis, interpretation, evaluation, and inference that affected students' critical reading skills. However, some factors such as appreciation of critical reading skills did not show significant influence. The learning model in this study has been proven to be effective in improving students' critical reading skills. This research contributes to the development of technology-based learning methods that can be implemented in elementary education to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The synthesizing mind is a higher-order cognitive competency that is important in 21st-century education because it helps students integrate information, build coherent understanding, and generate new ideas. However, studies that systematically map the development, themes, and educational implications of this concept remain limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze literature on the synthesizing mind in educational contexts using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The study followed structured stages, including keyword selection, literature search, article screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and thematic and bibliometric analysis. The analysis focused on publication trends, conceptual relationships, implementation patterns, and research gaps. The findings show that the synthesizing mind has been studied across various disciplines and is commonly associated with project-based learning, collaborative learning, digital technology, and reflective learning. The literature also indicates that synthesizing ability is influenced by cognitive factors, learning experiences, socio-cultural contexts, and curriculum design. Despite these developments, several gaps remain, particularly in the development of measurement instruments, implementation across educational levels, and evaluation of long-term impacts on students’ higher-order thinking skills. This study concludes that the synthesizing mind is a crucial competency for strengthening critical, creative, and integrative thinking in 21st-century education.
