Abstract

In the era of growing competition among higher education institutions, vocational colleges must build a distinctive brand image that highlights entrepreneurship. Wilmar Business Indonesia Polytechnic (WBI) in Medan represents a case of how vocational institutions develop an entrepreneurial-based brand identity. Although every institution has its own uniqueness, challenges often arise in communicating it effectively to the public. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by WBI in shaping an entrepreneurial brand image as a vocational institution. Building such an image requires consistent communication strategies, adequate resources, and public understanding of vocational education. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation involving management, lecturers, and students. The results show that key challenges include limited marketing communication resources, weak integration of entrepreneurial values into promotional messages, and low public awareness of vocational education advantages. External challenges also stem from public perceptions that favor academic universities over polytechnics. Theoretically, this research contributes to higher education branding literature by applying the DRIP Model (Differentiate, Reinforce, Inform, Persuade) to vocational entrepreneurship education. Practically, it offers strategic insights for vocational institutions to design consistent, value-based communication strategies that strengthen competitiveness and stakeholder engagement.

Abstract

The use of work-related social media by Generation Z has become a widespread phenomenon, creating a dilemma between flexibility and the blurring of boundaries between professional and personal lives. As digital natives, they are expected to seamlessly integrate work and personal life; however, they are also vulnerable to technostress. This study examines the relationship between Work-Related Social Media Use (WSMU) and Work-Life Integration (WLI) among Generation Z employees. This study adopts Boundary Theory and the Job Demands-Resources model as its theoretical framework. A correlational quantitative approach was employed, involving 203 Generation Z employees selected through convenience sampling method. Data were collected using the Work-Life Boundary Enactment Scale and Work-Related Social Media Questionnaire. The results of the correlation analysis rejected the initial hypothesis. A highly significant negative relationship was found between WSMU and WLI (r = -0.206, P = 0.003). This suggests that employees who effectively utilize social media for work tend to enact stronger segmentation strategies rather than integration. Further analysis revealed that hybrid workers reported significantly higher integration levels than office-based workers, and female employees engaged in more productive WSMU behaviors.

Abstract

Seminyak Beach in Bali is a prime tourist destination attracting both domestic and international tourists. However, the increase in tourist visits and commercial activities along the coastline has also created challenges to the cleanliness of the beach environment. This study aims to analyse tourists' perceptions of Seminyak Beach's cleanliness and identify factors influencing these perceptions. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach, based on field observations and semi-structured interviews with 30 tourists (18 foreign, 12 domestic) who visited the beach during the low season (February 2025). Observational data showed that, on average, 63% of respondents rated beach cleanliness as 'fair', 23% as 'good', and 14% as 'poor'. The main factors influencing perceptions were the visual appearance of trash (contributing ± 38%), odour (± 25%), and limited trash facilities (± 20%). Interview results showed that tourists appreciated the cleaning efforts by officers and community volunteers, but considered the cleaning frequency inconsistent. This study recommends strengthening sustainable beach-cleaning management systems, improving cleaning facilities, and conducting awareness campaigns for tourists

Abstract

The entry of Generation Z into the workforce requires companies to prioritize work engagement as a strategic priority to maintain employee stability and productivity. This study aims to critically examine the common assumption that Work-Life Integration is a key predictor of work engagement in this generational group. Using a quantitative approach, the study involved 220 Gen Z employees from various industrial sectors in Indonesia, with data analyzed using simple linear regression techniques. The statistical analysis results showed that the hypothesis was rejected, where Work-Life Integration had no significant effect on Work Engagement (p = 0.061), with a very small contribution of only 1.6%. Additional analysis based on demographic aspects also showed no significant differences. The main conclusion of this study indicates that for Gen Z employees, integration between work and personal life has shifted to a basic standard of facilities expected to prevent job dissatisfaction, but its existence is not necessarily a primary driver in increasing their work engagement. ABSTRAK Masuknya Generasi Z ke dalam angkatan kerja menuntut perusahaan untuk menempatkan keterikatan kerja (Work Engagement) sebagai prioritas strategis guna menjaga stabilitas dan produktivitas karyawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara kritis anggapan umum bahwa Integrasi Kehidupan Kerja (Work Life Integration) merupakan prediktor utama bagi keterikatan kerja pada kelompok generasi ini. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, penelitian melibatkan 220 karyawan Gen Z dari berbagai sektor industri di Indonesia, dengan data yang dianalisis melalui teknik regresi linear sederhana. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis ditolak, di mana Work Life Integration tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap Work Engagement (p = 0.061), dengan kontribusi yang sangat kecil, yakni hanya 1,6%. Analisis tambahan berdasarkan aspek demografi juga tidak memperlihatkan perbedaan yang signifikan. Simpulan utama studi ini mengindikasikan bahwa bagi karyawan Gen Z, integrasi antara pekerjaan dan kehidupan pribadi telah bergeser menjadi standar fasilitas dasar yang diharapkan untuk mencegah ketidakpuasan kerja, namun keberadaannya tidak serta-merta menjadi pendorong utama dalam meningkatkan keterikatan kerja mereka.

Abstract

The growing pressure faced by Generation Z employees shows that flexible work arrangements and digital technology do not always ensure psychological wellbeing. This generation works in an environment where the boundaries between professional and personal roles often overlap, potentially increasing stress and emotional fatigue. This study aims to examine the relationship between Work-Life Integration (WLI) and burnout among Gen-Z employees in Indonesia. This research used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A total of 235 Gen-Z employees participated in this study, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected online using two instruments: the Work-Life Boundary Enrichment Scale (WLBES) to measure WLI and the Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT) to measure burnout. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation through SPSS. The results indicate that, overall, there is no significant relationship between WLI and burnout among Gen-Z employees. However, a weak but significant positive correlation was found in the exhaustion dimension (r = 0.147; p = 0.024), suggesting that higher levels of work–life integration may be associated with increased emotional fatigue in some individuals. This finding implies that WLI is not always a protective factor against burnout. For certain employees, blurred boundaries between work and personal life may contribute to added strain if not managed effectively. ABSTRAK Fenomena meningkatnya tekanan kerja pada karyawan Gen-Z menunjukkan bahwa fleksibilitas kerja dan perkembangan teknologi tidak selalu berbanding lurus dengan kesejahteraan psikologis. Generasi ini hidup dalam pola kerja digital yang cenderung membuat batas antara peran profesional dan kehidupan pribadi menjadi kabur sehingga berpotensi memicu stres dan kelelahan emosional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara Work-Life Integration (WLI) dan burnout pada karyawan Gen-Z di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Partisipan berjumlah 235 karyawan Gen-Z yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara daring menggunakan dua alat ukur, yaitu Work-Life Boundary Enrichment Scale (WLBES) untuk mengukur WLI dan Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT) untuk mengukur burnout. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan korelasi Pearson melalui SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara WLI dan burnout pada karyawan Gen-Z. Namun, ditemukan hubungan positif lemah dan signifikan pada dimensi exhaustion (r = 0.147; p = 0.024), yang menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi integrasi antara pekerjaan dan kehidupan pribadi, sebagian responden justru mengalami peningkatan rasa lelah secara emosional. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa WLI tidak selalu menjadi faktor protektif terhadap burnout, dan bagi sebagian individu, integrasi peran yang tidak terkelola dengan baik dapat memicu kelelahan tambahan.

Abstract

ABSTRACTCompany performs the act of manipulating financial statements to mislead the investors about company’s performance and financial position. This act of manipulating financial statements is commonly known as financial shenanigans. Financial shenanigans is an act that intentionally damages financial performance and condition of the reported firm. This study used PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk in 2018 which has been in public spotlight because the publicated financial statements is not in accordance with the Statement of Financial Accounting Standards (PSAK) which was made by IAI. PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk was indicated perform act of fraud especially shenanigans number 1 about recognizing income too early. PT Garuda Indonesia recorded income from Mahata’s compensation too early, which also violate PSAK 72 by-passing the 5-step model analysis to recognize income.Keyword: Manipulation, financial statement, financial shenanigans, PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk, PSAK 72. ABSTRAKPerusahaan melakukan tindakan manipulasi laporan keuangan untuk mengelabui investor tentang kinerja dan posisi keuangan perusahaan yang sebenarnya. Tindakan manipulasi laporan keuangan ini disebut financial shenanigans. Financial shenanigans merupakan sebuah tindakan yang dengan sengaja merusak kinerja keuangan dan kondisi keuangan perusahaan yang dilaporkan. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan sampel perusahaan PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk. PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk pada tahun 2018 banyak menjadi sorotan publik karena publikasi laporan keuangan tahun 2018 tidak sesuai dengan Pernyataan Standar Akuntansi Keuangan (PSAK) yang dibuat oleh IAI. PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk terindikasi adanya aksi melakukan tindakan Shenanigan no 1 terjadi mengenai pencatatan pendapatan terlalu dini. PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk mencatat pendapatan atas kompensasi dari Mahata terlalu dini, yang mana sesuai ketentuan yang diatur PSAK 72 dengan melewati 5 (lima) tahapan pengakuan pendapatan.Kata kunci:  Manipulasi, laporan keuangan, financial shenanigns, PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk, PSAK 72.
