Abstract

Pendidikan matematika di Sekolah Dasar tidak hanya bertujuan untuk membekali siswa dengan pemahaman konsep dasar matematika, tetapi juga untuk melatih cara berpikirnya. Seiring dengan tuntutan perkembangan global, penggunaan soal matematika berbasis HOTS menjadi sangat penting untuk melatih siswa terbiasa menganalisis, menyintesis, dan menerapkan konsep dasar dalam kehidupan nyata. Hasil evaluasi yang dilakukan oleh pihak Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Pasuruan mencerminkan perlunya peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran matematika khususnya kemampuan guru dalam mengkonstruksi permasalahan matematika yang berbasis HOTS. Tim PKM Matematika Unesa menawarkan solusi berupa kegiatan pelatihan pengkonstruksian masalah matematika berbasis HOTS yang berkualitas dalam hal ini lebih difokuskan pada konten literasi matematika numerasi untuk guru-guru SD di Kabupaten Pasuruan. Kegiatan ini telah dilaksanakan pada tanggal 13 Juli 2024 di SMPN 1 Bangil Pasuruan dan diikuti oleh 25 Guru SD dari beberapa kecamatan yang ada di Kabupaten Pasuruan secara luring. Kegiatan selanjutnya dilakukan secara daring untuk mendapatkan hasil sesuai yang diharapkan. Dari hasil pengerjaan tugas yang diberikan kepada peserta pelatihan, terjadi peningkatan pemahaman guru sebesar 85% dalam mengkonstruksi soal matematika HOTS. Dari hasil kegiatan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan adanya peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam mengkonstruksi masalah matematika HOTS sesuai dengan tujuan diadakannya PKM akan membawa pengaruh positif terhadap kualitas pembelajaran matematika di Kabupaten Pasuruan.

Abstract

Geometry is one of the content of mathematics which in many studies is associated with students' thinking abilities, such as critical thinking and reasoning abilities or others..This study aims to conduct a systematic review of the geometry research in school for identifying the types of mathematical thinking and their interconnections. We searched the Scopus database for articles published from 2003 to 2023 using relevant keywords. We applied the PRISMA method to select and evaluate the studies or articles based on the empirical data. We retrieved and evaluated data from the studies on the various styles of mathematical thinking evolved. Out of 166 titles that were initially obtained, only 10 titles passed the five stages of the systematic review protocol process. We identified 10 types of mathematical thinking that were discussed in the context of learning geometry at school: Creative Mathematical Reasoning (CMR), Computational thinking, Geometric reasoning, Geometric thinking van hiele theory, Geometric thinking (3D geometric thinking with representations), 3D geometry thinking, Visuo spatial reasoning, Geometry Spatial Reasoning, mathematical creative reasoning (MCR), and Inductive reasoning. We also found some connections of literature between these types of mathematical thinking, such as CMR and MCR, Geometric reasoning and Geometric thinking, and Visuo spatial reasoning and Geometry Spatial Reasoning. This systematic review provides an overview of the current state of research on geometry and reasoning in school mathematics and reveals some gaps and directions for future study. It also has implications for teachers who want to enhance their students’ mathematical thinking skills in geometry by exposing them to different types of mathematical thinking and their connections.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the critical thinking of masculine male and feminine female students in solving numeracy literacy problems in the minimum competency assessment. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data collection method used the Bem Sex Role Inventory test to determine gender tendencies, giving math ability tests, giving problem solving assignments and interviews to determine students' critical thinking profiles. The research subjects consisted of two grade VIII junior high school students with masculine male and feminine female gender with moderate math ability. The results showed that masculine male students could fulfill all critical thinking indicators, while feminine female students could not fulfill one of the critical thinking indicators, namely analyzing problems with mathematical concepts. In addition, masculine male and feminine female students have different ways or solutions in solving numeracy literacy problems in the minimum competency assessment.

Abstract

Spatial thinking is important in learning Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Numerous studies about spatial ability in various fields like mathematics, neuroscience and phycologist considered various factors such as gender, age, or demography. However, a few studies are still about enhancing spatial ability in the context of mediated pedagogies. This study aims to describe spatial research on mathematics education, especially related to the intervention or learning design of spatial reasoning. A bibliometric study is employed to determine the research trend of spatial reasoning, especially related to teaching practice. The review follows a structured design consisting of several stages of the PRISMA method. From 652 documents about spatial in mathematics education gathered from the Scopus data, it is reduced to 40 documents regarding spatial reasoning in mathematics education. Further, only 19 documents about intervention and practice in enhancing spatial reasoning exist. This study may benefit researchers in mathematics education by showing the development and trend of spatial reasoning research and suggesting new directions for future research.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the relational thinking profile of students with field independent and field dependent cognitive styles in solving contextual problems. There are seven study groups in class VII MTsN 1 Surabaya City and two male students from class VIIA totaling 40 students were selected as subjects based on the results of the GEFT cognitive style test and equivalent mathematical ability. Students who got a GEFT score ≤ 9 were classified as field dependent (SFD) and field independent (SFI) got a score > 9. Subjects with field independent cognitive style (SFI) were selected with a score of 11, subjects with field dependent cognitive style (SFD) with a score of 7 with TKM results, namely 77 and 82. Data collection techniques in this study used TPM and interviews. Data analysis was carried out by means of data reduction, presentation and conclusion drawing. Valid data obtained through time triangulation. The results showed that in understanding the problem, (1) SFI and FFD students found important elements in a given problem. Learners SFI describes the relationship between the elements in the problem while students SFD can not explain. Learners FI and FD build relationships in determining the completion planning strategy and checking again using arithmetic operations and carrying out the plan made. Learners FI solves the problem using another method while learners FD uses the usual way. Learners FI do the recalculation while students SFD counts back by way of substitution.

Abstract

Mathematical proof demands accuracy and precision in formulating correct and logical arguments. Students need to develop their ability to produce accurate and precise proofs. This study aims to analyze the ability of prospective mathematics teachers in constructing geometry and algebraic proofs. The research subjects were 8 prospective mathematics teacher students, four male and four female. This descriptive qualitative research begins with giving tests to research subjects, then we conduct interviews. The results showed that male students were better at compiling geometry proofs than compiling algebraic proofs. While female students are better at compiling algebraic proofs than geometry. This is due to the spatial ability of men better than women.  When compiling geometry proofs apply procedural proofs, syntactic proofs, and semantic proofs. When compiling algebraic proofs only apply procedural proofs. Female students when compiling geometry proofs only apply procedural proofs. When compiling algebraic proofs, they apply procedural proofs and syntactic proofs.

Abstract

Simple qualitative descriptive research that describes the critical thinking skills of prospective mathematics teachers based on the percentage of achievement of critical thinking skills test results. we conducted research on 6th semester students of Mathematics Education Study Program consisting of 35 students. The research instrument used critical thinking skills test questions consisting of 5 questions prepared based on indicators of critical thinking skills consisting of identifying and interpreting, analyzing, evaluating, connecting, and solving problems. Data analysis used percentage. The results showed that the critical thinking skills of prospective mathematics teachers had a total average of 70% in the high category. This is supported by the percentage of critical thinking skills in each indicator as follows: interpreting and identifying indicators by 85%, analyzing indicators by 70%, connecting indicators by 82.14%, problem solving indicators by 20%, and evaluating indicators by 92.86%.

Abstract

Monyet merupakan salah satu jenis mamalia primata yang termasuk dalam sub-ordo Anthropoide. Beberapa spesies monyet telah mengalami penurunan jumlah secara signifikan pada beberapa dekade terakhir, oleh karena itu diperlukan suatu metode untuk mendeteksi keberadaan populasi monyet di suatu wilayah sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan konservasi monyet agar terhindar dari ancaman kepunahan. Diketahui bahwa sebagian besar habitat monyet adalah hutan yang merupakan alam bebas dengan memiliki banyak pohon dan berbagai satwa lain di dalamnya, hal ini mengakibatkan keterbatasan untuk mendeteksi populasi monyet di suatu wilayah. Dalam komunikasi vokal, monyet mengeluarkan berbagai jenis suara, dimana suara yang dikeluarkan oleh monyet dari jenis yang berbeda dapat menghasilkan sinyal suara yang berbeda, sehingga memunculkan suatu karakteristik. Dari informasi karakteristik tersebutlah pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan klasifikasi jenis monyet berdasarkan suara dengan menerapkan metode dimensi fraktal Higuchi dan klasifikasi K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN). Tahapannya yaitu pre-processing data, kemudian ekstraksi ciri dengan dekomposisi suara hingga level 7 menggunakan Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) berjenis mother wavelet Daubechies db4. Selanjutnya melakukan perhitungan nilai Higuchi. Dari nilai Higuchi yang telah didapat, dilakukan tahap klasifikasi K-NN. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan rasio pembagian data menjadi data training dan data testing sebesar 0,5 : 0,5, pada Kmax = 50 dan k = 3 didapatkan hasil akurasi tertinggi yaitu sebesar 90,38%. Dari hasil akurasi yang tinggi disimpulkan bahwa metode Higuchi dan K-NN dapat diterapkan pada klasifikasi jenis monyet berdasarkan suara. Kata Kunci: Monyet, Dimensi Fraktal Higuchi, K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN).

Abstract

Masyarakat sering memanfaatkan media sosial sebagai platform untuk mengungkapkan minat dan pandangan mereka terhadap berbagai topik. Di Indonesia, masyarakat juga sering menggunakan media sosial sebagai wadah untuk mengekspresikan minat dan pandangan mereka terhadap berbagai isu. Kemajuan teknologi informasi telah memperluas cakupan dan meningkatkan kecepatan dalam penyebaran informasi melalui media sosial. Salah satu isu yang ramai dibahas di Twitter adalah terkait Redenominasi Rupiah, yang tercermin dari tingginya jumlah retweet pada tweet yang terkait. Penelitian ini menerapkan Metode Analisis Jaringan Sosial (SNA) sebagai teknik untuk memetakan dan mengukur hubungan serta komunikasi di antara akun-akun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa akun Twitter @BigAlphaID memunculkan nilai Degree Centrality tertinggi sebesar 1387, nilai Betweeness Centrality sebesar 1386, dan nilai Closeness Centrality mencapai 1.0. Closeness Centrality yang mencapai 1.0 menggambarkan bahwa akun tersebut menjadi simpul terdekat dengan akun lain dalam jaringan. Dengan kata lain, akun Twitter @BigAlphaID memiliki dampak signifikan dalam menyuarakan isu Redenominasi Rupiah

Abstract

Ikan adalah kelompok hewan bertulang belakang (vertebrata) yang hidup di dalam air, bernapas melalui insang, dan memiliki sirip untuk berenang. Dalam taksonomi, ikan masuk dalam kelompok paraphyletic. Ikan berperan penting dalam ekosistem perairan dan juga menjadi makanan pokok bagi banyak masyarakat di muka bumi ini. Selain dilihat dari bentuk tubuh, ekor, dan bentuk siripnya, corak pada tubuh ikan juga berperan penting dalam mengidentifikasi jenis ikan. Dalam matematika, gagasan mengenai fraktal adalah salah satu metode yang cocok untuk memahami pola atau bentuk yang tidak beraturan pada suatu objek. Dalam penelitian ini, dilakukan pengklasifikasian ikan laut berdasarkan corak pada tubuhnya menggunakan dimensi fraktal. Sebanyak 120 citra berwarna pada bagian tengah tubuh ikan laut digunakan untuk diubah ke dalam citra grayscale lalu dilakukan segmentasi pada corak tubuhnya. Daerah hasil segmentasi tersebut digunakan untuk mengetahui pola corak tubuh ikan menggunakan deteksi tepi Canny. Hasil nilai dimensi menggunakan box counting diklasifikasikan menggunakan metode K-Means Clustering dengan 8 klaster yang memiliki nilai akurasi sebesar 90%. Kata Kunci: Corak Tubuh Ikan Laut, Box Counting, K-Means.
