Abstract

Listening instruction on hikayat texts in senior high schools often encounters low student learning motivation due to instructional practices that lack contextual relevance and insufficient integration of students’ cultural backgrounds. This study aims to enhance students’ learning motivation in listening to hikayat texts through the implementation of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach. The research employed a collaborative classroom action research design using a lesson study framework consisting of the stages of plan, do, and see. The study was conducted in class X-1 of SMA Negeri 2 Praya and involved 36 students. The research was carried out in two cycles. Data were collected through learning motivation questionnaires, cognitive achievement tests, classroom observations, and reflective documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings reveal a significant improvement in students’ learning motivation following the implementation of CRT. In the pre-action phase, students’ motivation was predominantly categorized as low to moderate. After the implementation of CRT in Cycle I and Cycle II, the proportion of students with high learning motivation increased substantially, reaching 72% in Cycle II, while no students remained in the low-motivation category. These results indicate that the CRT approach is effective in fostering culturally relevant, meaningful, and engaging listening instruction for hikayat texts at the senior high school level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi strategi pembelajaran brainwriting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa di SMPN 6 Sikur. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan data yang diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, serta analisis hasil tulisan siswa. Analisis Data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII yang terdiri dari 30 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi brainwriting mampu meningkatkan kualitas tulisan siswa dari segi isi, struktur paragraf, kebahasaan, dan kreativitas. Brainwriting juga berkontribusi pada peningkatan motivasi dan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam menulis. Dengan demikian, metode ini layak diterapkan sebagai strategi alternatif dalam pembelajaran menulis di tingkat SMP.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis kesalahan pengucapan fonetik serta factor yang menyebabkannya yang dilakukan oleh siswa kelas V dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SDN 1 Suka Damai. Latar belakang penelitian ini dilandasi oleh pentingnya kemampuan berbicara dalam Bahasa Inggris sebagai bagian dari keterampilan abad ke-21, serta rendahnya penguasaan aspek fonetik di tingkat sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, rekaman suara, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 25 siswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan lima jenis kesalahan fonetik yang dominan, yaitu: substitusi bunyi vokal (misalnya /ɪ/ menjadi /iː/), substitusi bunyi konsonan (/θ/ menjadi /t/, /ð/ menjadi /d/), penghilangan bunyi akhir (misalnya /t/ atau /d/ tidak diucapkan), penambahan bunyi (epenthesis) pada gugus konsonan, serta kesalahan intonasi dan tekanan dalam kalimat. Faktor-faktor penyebab kesalahan antara lain interferensi bahasa ibu, kurangnya paparan terhadap model pengucapan yang benar, keterbatasan pengajaran fonetik, serta tahap perkembangan kognitif siswa. Temuan ini menegaskan perlunya strategi pembelajaran yang lebih eksplisit dalam melatih pelafalan fonetik siswa sejak dini, termasuk melalui penggunaan media audio-visual, latihan minimal pairs, dan pelatihan guru dalam aspek fonologi praktis.

Abstract

It is a common phenomenon that many rural populations work in Malaysia well known as Indonesian Labors (TKI). Even, some of them have been working for 5 years without passport. Their long period serving as Malaysian TKI affects to the ungrammatical and interference usage of Indonesian language. This study focuses on the causes and interferences form of Malayan language towards the TKI’s Indonesian language performance in Sub-district of Sikur. This is descriptive and qualitative study. The data is collected by using recording and interview technique. Then, the recording data is transcribed into written form and is analyzed by using interactive analysis with the following steps: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Based on the data analysis, it is concluded that the interferences occurred among the Malaysian TKI populations are caused by interaction, habitual use of Malayan language for communication and their long period serving as TKI. In addition, forms of language interferences of the Malaysian TKI are phonological interference which occurs through shift of vowel phoneme, shift of consonant phoneme, and articulation of vowel and consonant phoneme. Beside that, morphological interference also occurs through prefix di-, clitics –nya, preposition di, full reduplication and partial reduplication. Finally, syntactic interference occurs in term of function, category and role.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the integration of religious values within Sasak traditions as a form of ethnopedagogical education in the Lombok community. Using a qualitative approach, this research analyzes how Islamic values are combined with local traditions in the daily life of the Sasak people. The study finds that religious and cultural leaders play a central role in conveying religious values through cultural ceremonies, sermons, and informal learning related to Sasak culture. Furthermore, this tradition-based education proves effective in shaping the religious and social character of the younger generation, by connecting religious teachings with relevant cultural practices. The findings of this study are expected to provide new insights into the importance of utilizing local traditions in religious and character education in multicultural societies.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the competence of teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Masbagik in developing integrative thematic learning tools based on Sasak cultural values. The background of the activity stems from the limited use of local wisdom in classroom instruction, which leads to a disconnect between the teaching materials and the students’ cultural context. The program was conducted using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach over three days, involving stages of needs assessment, training, mentoring, classroom trials, and reflection. A total of 25 teachers participated and showed significant improvement in their pedagogical understanding and skills, as reflected in the increase of their average scores from 61.4 (pretest) to 83.6 (posttest). Participants successfully produced lesson plans, teaching modules, and student worksheets incorporating Sasak cultural values such as the spirit of cooperation (begibung), environmental preservation (ngayu-ayu), and politeness in daily language use. A limited classroom implementation showed that students responded positively and were more engaged in lessons linked to their local culture. This program demonstrates that integrating local cultural content into instructional design can improve the quality and contextual relevance of learning while strengthening students’ cultural identity. It is recommended that similar training be conducted on a regular basis, accompanied by the systematic development of local-based teaching materials.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of social interaction in the character development of preschool children in Sembalun Village, Lombok. The main focus of this research is to identify the impact of interactions with family, early childhood education (PAUD) institutions, and peers on children's character development. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used, involving direct observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the family plays a fundamental role in instilling core character values such as honesty, responsibility, and discipline. Additionally, PAUD institutions in Sembalun support character development through culturally-based approaches and group activities that promote empathy, tolerance, and cooperation. Interaction with peers also significantly contributes to social learning, where children learn to manage conflicts, share, and appreciate differences. This study emphasizes the importance of collaboration between families, educational institutions, and communities in supporting the early character development of children. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of early childhood education policies, particularly in rural areas with strong local cultural traditions.

Abstract

Lombok is a region characterized by cultural, ethnic, and social diversity, which necessitates the implementation of multicultural values in education. Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) play a strategic role as religious-based educational institutions in fostering tolerance among students. This study aims to describe the implementation of multicultural education in Islamic boarding schools in Lombok and its contribution to the development of students’ tolerance attitudes. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with pesantren leaders, teachers, and students, as well as document analysis of learning activities and pesantren culture. The findings indicate that multicultural education in Lombok’s Islamic boarding schools is implemented through the integration of tolerance values in classroom learning, educators’ role modeling, religious and social activities, and daily habituation of living together in a diverse pesantren environment. These practices contribute to the development of mutual respect, openness, and acceptance of differences among students. The study concludes that Islamic boarding schools have significant potential as strategic spaces for the development of multicultural education oriented toward strengthening students’ tolerance attitudes.
