Abstract

The observation results at 27 elementary school students indicate that the learning process did not yet support the development of students' creative thinking abilities. Students who recognize cultural diversity will tend to have creative thinking ability. Unfortunately, culture utilization as a source of learning in the school was not optimal, so students were less familiar with the culture in their area. But, creative thinking through learning Project-based Learning (PjBL) model by using local wisdom resource will help students to improve their abilities.  This study aims to determine the application of PjBL with science aspects related to community culture (ethnoscience) and the creative thinking abilities improvement of elementary school students. This experimental research design used a pre-test and post-test design control group. The research sample consisted of students fifth-graders Public Elementary School 2 Majasari and Public Elementary School 3 Majasari. Data collection used observation techniques, written tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The positive findings in the normalized gain test analysis of the experimental class and the control class showed a moderate increase of 0.4 and 0.3. The increase in students' creative thinking abilities in the experimental class was higher than in the control class. The results of the study concluded that the application of ethnoscience based PjBL could improve students' creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of PjBL model by using Science KIT to improve students' confidence and problem-solving skills. This research is done by using a quasi-experimental design with a type of non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects were 50 fifth grade students from Elementary School 02 Krompeng and Elementary School 01 Kalirejo. Data on students’ self-confidence and problem-solving skills assessment are collected through observation and tests. Using N-Gain analysis and t-test. Research results show that there are different results in terms of self-confidence attitudes between groups of students who follow PjBL model with Science KIT and the other groups of students who follow PjBL learning model, obtained a value (tvalue = 37.12 > ttable  = 1.68), there are differences in learning outcomes as well, in terms of problem-solving skills between groups of students who follow PjBL learning model with Science KIT with groups of students who follow PjBL learning model, it is proven post-test result obtained in experimental class is 74.96 while in the control class is 60.72 (tvalue = 19.55 > ttable = 1.71). The results of this research are beneficial for teachers as an overview of condition self-confidence and problem-solving skills that can be taken into consideration in planning the lesson.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model with Simeli media on cognitive learning outcomes and inter-intrapersonal skills of Grade VI students on science subjects electrical energy materials. The research design used is quantitative quasi-experiment. The population of the research was Grade VI Elementary School students in Jumo District. Sampling technique by purposive sampling, obtained from students as many as 22 from Public Elementary School 1 Jombor, 25 from Public Elementary School Giyono, and 23 from Public Elementary School 1 Kertosari. Research data on cognitive learning outcomes and inter-intrapersonal skills were obtained from tests and observations. Data analysis using Anova test with the help of SPSS 25. The results obtained by an average of cognitive learning outcomes of experimental class I was 92.50, experimental class II was 92.72, and control class was 70.13. The average inter-intrapersonal skills of experimental class I was 82.41, experimental class II was 81.48, and control class was 73.13. These data indicate that the average cognitive learning outcomes and inter-intrapersonal skills of the experimental class are higher than that of the control class. Anova test on cognitive learning outcomes showed Fvalue = 116.210 with a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05, while the Anova test results on inter-intrapersonal skills showed Fvalue = 13.088 with a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05. The conclusion of the CTL model with simile media affects improving cognitive learning outcomes, and inter-intrapersonal skills of Grade VI students on science subjects electric energy material.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' concept comprehension ability by applying CLIS (Children Learning In Science) learning models integrated ethnoscience. This study employed a quasi experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. The data used include pretest and posttest score. The data were analyzed using the one-sample test for the average test, proportion test (Z test) to calculate the classical completeness and N-gain calculation. The result revealed that students who fulfill the minimum standard criteria (KKM) were 30 students with the classical completeness 93.75%. The proportion completeness of concept comprehension ability passed over 75%. The improvement of concept comprehension ability was 0.4 and categorized as medium. Each indicators of concept comprehension increased sequentially that is translating 86.3%, exemplifying 91%, classifying 77.5%, summarizing 76.3%, predicting 88.8% and explaining 73.8%. The improvement of indicator concept comprehension generally in the very good category. Based on the result obtained, it can be concluded that the application of CLIS learning models integrated ethnoscience can improve students’ concept comprehension.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the use of learning props on the improvement of cognitive abilities and the value of interest in student learning. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Karangtengah Demak Regency. Cognitive ability was measured using a test instrument in the form of a description test of eight questions, while interest in learning was measured using a questionnaire instrument with a likert scale of 12 statements. The results showed students' cognitive ability increased by 0.51 with the moderate category in all cognitive aspects researched, and students' learning interest showed a very good response on the three aspects researched were 81,12% for pleasure aspects; 83,75% for the attention aspect; and 87,34% for participation aspect. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the use of physics education props can affect the improvement of students' cognitive abilities in grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Karangtengah Demak Regency. The use of props can also affect the student's interest in learning.

Abstract

One of the policies developed in the curriculum 2013 is to provide services to students according to their talents, interests, and learning abilities. A teacher is required to be able to provide an Independent Learning Activity Unit or Unit Kegiatan Belajar Mandiri (UKBM) for students. The goals of this research are to develop physics UKBM of work and energy based on contextual learning, to know the feasibility and readability of UKBM, and to know the improvement of student?s understanding about work and energy concepts. The used method in this research is Research and Development (R&amp;D). The research steps consist of study of potential and problems, data collection, product design, expert validation, product revisions, small-scale trials, product revisions, and large-scale trials. One Group Pretest-posttest was used as the trials design. The subject of trials is 10th grade student of SMA Negeri 1 Kendal in 2018/2019 school year. The results of the research are the characteristics of UKBM of work and energy based on contextual learning according to the guidelines for developing UKBM and aspects of contextual learning. The core activities of the UKBM include four learning activities, which are the concept of work, the concept of the relationship of work and energy change, and the concept of the Law of Conservation of Mechanical Energy. The learning process was arranged using the Problem Based Learning model by presenting physics problems in daily life. UKBM of work and energy was declared very feasible with a percentage score of eligibility of 96%. The readability test result of 77% showed that UKBM was easy to understand. Based on the results of large-scale trials, the application of UKBM in learning can improve student's understanding of concepts with the gain of 0.49 in the middle improvement category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil penerapan pembelajaran konsep energi dan perubahannya bermuatan etnosains pengasapan ikan yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan literasi sains siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan Quasi experiment dengan pretest-posttest control group design untuk mengetahui hasil penerapan pembelajaran bermuatan etnosains pada pokok bahasan energi dan perubahannya terhadap literasi sains siswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Demak tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dengan sampel kelas VIII A sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VIII B sebagai kelas eksperimen. Penentuan sampel tersebut menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan pertimbangan tertentu. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar wawancara proses pengasapan ikan dan tes literasi sains dalam bentuk soal esai. Hasil penerapan pembelajaran konsep energi dan perubahannya bermuatan etnosains dan perangkat pembelajarannya diperoleh peningkatan literasi sains berdasarkan nilai N-gin pada kelas kontrol sebesar 0,164 (kategori rendah), sedangkan pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,443 (kategori sedang). Analisis dengan uji t berdasarkan hasil pretest diperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,670 > 0,05 menunjukkan tidak adanya perbedaan yang signifikan pada nilai pretest kedua kelas, sedangkan nilai posttest antar kelas diperoleh Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 menunjukkan ada perbedaan yang signifikan nilai posttest kedua kelas. Hasil penelitian dan pembahasan disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran konsep energi dan perubahannya bermuatan etnosains pengasapan ikan dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan literasi sains siswa.

Abstract

The solar system is one of the physics subject matter that seems abstract because it deals with celestial objects that cannot be presented in class. This research develops learning media with Android-based augmented reality technology. The purpose of this research is to develop an Android-based arts learning media on solar system subject matter for junior high school and find out the feasibility of the learning media. The development model used is the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The results of this research are learning media products for Android-based which have been tested on 5 groups of respondents using the questionnaire method. From the results of the feasibility test obtained a percentage of 84,71%. Based on the results obtained, the ARTS learning media was declared suitable for use.

Abstract

The measurement of scientific literacy is very important to find out the extent to which students have been literate in science. The preparation of test instruments based on scientific literacy is an effort to measure the literacy skills of students in the field of science. The purpose of this research is to develop a valid, practical, and effective science literacy test instrument to measure the scientific literacy skills of students on the theme of global warming. The research method was used Research and Development (R & D) with the research design of ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The final product in this research is a scientific literacy-based test instrument to measure the scientific literacy skill of students that have been declared valid and feasible by experts and is valid in the content, in the form of 20 reasonable multiple-choice questions that are tailored to the indicators of the scientific literacy, complete with a grid of questions, answer keys, and bibliography. It can be concluded that the validity of the test instruments received an average percentage of 79.99% and was included in the category of valid and feasible to use. The practicality of the test instrument is in the very practical category seen based on the results of student responses by 87.50% and teacher responses by 94.23%. The effectiveness of the test instrument is in the effective category, since this study can reveal or position the scientific literacy skills of students into three criteria items, namely high, medium, and low, it can be used as input and thought contribution to improve the quality of making the test instruments to measure the skill of scientific literacy on the theme of global warming.

Abstract

21st century needs human resources that have an adequate ability to face the global era. This ability can trained at the education stage by using a good method in learning, discovery learning can be choices to release that. This study's aim is to analyze the effect of learning with discovery models on 21st-century skills for elementary school students. This study uses experimental research. Experimental research method is a research conducted on variables for which data are not yet available that it needs to be manipulated through the treatment of research subjects in which the impact is measured. Results of the creative thinking skills gain test showed the average value of the experimental class was 0.72 while the average value of the control class was 0,39. This shows the discovery model gives more influence on the student’s skills to think creatively. Results of the critical thinking skills gain test showed the average value of the experimental class was 0.78 while the average value of the control class was 0.60. This shows the discovery model gives more influence on the student’s skills to think critically. The results of communication skills test showed a significance value of 0.82. This value is higher than 0.05, it means that students communication skills with the discovery model are not higher than group of students that learning with the expository model. The result of collaboration skills showed a significance value of 0.91. This value is greater than 0.05, it’s means that the collaboration skills of students with discovery models are not higher than those of students who learn with expository models. This research is expected to be a reference for teachers in using learning models when teaching.
