Abstract

Abstract

The reduction of green open space results in a lack of infiltration of rainwater into the soil and an increase in the amount of surface flow, one solution to overcome these problems is to implement a biopore infiltration hole system. This study aims to determine the rate and capacity of water infiltration in biopore holes based on various soil types in Loa Bakung Village. The infiltration rate was determined through direct measurement at 9 points in 3 locations with gleisol, podzolic, and podzolic haplik soil types, then measured by putting water into a hole with a diameter of 10 cm with a depth of 80 cm - 100 cm. The parameters measured are the difference in distance or height and time. The results of parameter measurements were made into a graph to obtain the highest infiltration rate at the research location, and determine the infiltration capacity using the Horton equation. Then, soil samples were analyzed by measuring soil physical properties that affect infiltration rates such as texture, porosity, permeability, and moisture content. The results showed that the infiltration rate and infiltration capacity varied in each location. Location 2 with podzolic soil type shows the highest infiltration rate and capacity value of 2820 cm/hour with an infiltration capacity of 2782.84 cm/hour. Followed by location 1 which is a gleisol soil type of 1224 cm/hour with an infiltration capacity of 1217.72 cm/hour, and the lowest value is shown in location 3 with a haplik podzolic soil type of 1050 cm/hour with an infiltration capacity of 1041.46 cm/hour.

Abstract

Surgical Site Infection (SSI) following spinal fusion surgery may lead to patient morbidity, increased treatment costs, and possible recurrent medical interventions. Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) has demonstrated promise in the management of SSI as well as assisting in surgical wound healing. This literature review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of NPWT as a prophylactic, and treatment of SSI in spinal fusion surgery. The literature review method is conducted by searching research articles comparing NPWT and Standard Wound Dressing (SWD) effectiveness with the relevant cohort or Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) research design using Embase, Scopus, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases. The application treads of NPWT for surgical wounds in spinal fusion surgery were also described. The research articles were limited from 2017 to 2022. Six articles fit in criteria of inclusion, three articles were prophylactic management research, and the others were the management of treatment research. Analysis of the articles indicated that NPWT as prophylactic could effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative surgical site infections. NPWT as treatment had less time duration, lower risk of sponge fragment retainment, and fewer procedures to achieve wound closure in spinal fusion surgery. There is currently a lack of strong clinical evidence of its efficacy, so rigorous randomized prospective clinical trials are needed.

Abstract

Dolphinear is an instrument for monitoring sound wave signals underwater. This study aims to see how the results of sound recording by Dolphinear type DE200 based on variations in distance and frequency of the sound source using the Audacity Software. In this study, the sound source will be generated through a waterproof speaker with a frequency variation of 100 Hz to 20 kHz. The distance between the sound source and the dolphinear is also varied from 1 to 5 meters. Audacity software is used to generate, record, and obtain the spectrum of the recorded audio sound signal. Based on the spectrum of the sound recorded by the DE200 dolphinear, frequency peaks close to the source frequency can be detected in recording using a 500 Hz sound source, but the main frequency peaks in the spectrum are difficult to detect in recording using sound sources above 500 Hz. In this study, it was also found that there is a limit to the recording ability of the dolphinear DE200 for frequencies above 18 kHz which is indicated by a decrease in intensity at that frequency.
