Abstract

Research aims: This study investigates the connection between Islamic bank financing and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Indonesia. Design/Methodology/Approach: Using secondary time-series data (2015 – 2023), this study employs the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) within a quantitative framework to investigate short-run and long-run dynamics between the two variables. Research findings: This study reveals that Islamic financing is a key factor in fostering long-term economic growth, although its influence in the short term shows a fluctuating pattern. The Granger test indicates bidirectional causality, while the IRF and VD analyses show an initial positive impact of Islamic financing on GDP that diminishes over time. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study develops the theoretical framework of Islamic banking by demonstrating that financing is directed toward the real sector based on principles of justice (free of interest and speculation) and isolated from non-bank variables, such that funding can foster pure economic growth. Practitioners/Policy Implications: To achieve the real-world impact of Islamic financing on the national economy, close collaboration between financial regulators, academics, industry stakeholders, and Islamic social organizations is essential. Research Limitations/Implications: The overall scope of the data used remains limited, particularly regarding the exclusion of external variables such as global economic dynamics, the level of financial inclusion, and fiscal policies, which may implicitly influence the research outcomes.

Abstract

This community service program aims to increase the economic independence of farmer groups and micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Totosan Village, Sumenep Regency, through halal production training and halal certification assistance. The activity was carried out in three stages, namely preparation, training and mentoring, and evaluation. A total of 25 participants consisting of farmers who are also MSE actors participated in technical training on the halal production process and certification procedures. This training succeeded in increasing participants' understanding and skills in processing agricultural products into value-added products according to halal standards. A number of participants showed readiness to proceed to the stage of applying for halal certification for finished products processed from agricultural products. However, there are some participants who are still in the process of perfecting production with follow-up assistance. This program has a positive impact in the form of increasing production capacity, products that meet halal standards, wider access to the halal market, as well as economic independence and reducing dependence on middlemen. Thus, this program is expected to support independent and sustainable rural economic growth.

Abstract

Quran memorization methods are a field that continues to experience significant development. Recently, a method originating from psychology, the STIFIn method introduced by Dr. Farid Poniman, has improved Quran memorization techniques. This article aims to analyze the implementation of the STIFIn method at the Al-Fuad Fahmi Islamic Boarding School located in Palasari Village, Tangerang. This study uses a qualitative approach through field research methods, where data is obtained through interviews and observations. The results show that there are five types of intelligence—Sensing, Thinking, Intuiting, Feeling, and Instinct—which are used to identify the potential of each student through fingerprint testing. The results of this test are stable and do not change even though it is administered repeatedly. Implementing the STIFIn method at the Al-Fuad Fahmi Islamic Boarding School is going well. However, several challenges must be overcome to achieve optimal results according to the boarding school's expectations. The recommendation from this study is to improve training and support for teachers in implementing the STIFIn method, as well as to overcome existing obstacles so that students can optimize their potential in memorizing the Qur'an.

Abstract

Coastal regions hold strategic importance, particularly for fishing communities, due to their ecological, economic, and socio-cultural significance. In the coastal areas of Malang, these zones serve as the foundation of local livelihoods. However, unsustainable exploitation, environmental degradation, coastal abrasion, and the impacts of climate change have severely threatened the ecological sustainability of these areas. This study aims to examine the transformation of Qur’anic ecological values and the cultural anthropology of Malang's coastal communities in efforts to conserve the coastal environment. Employing a qualitative ethnographic method and an interdisciplinary framework that incorporates ecology, cultural anthropology, and interpretations of relevant Qur’anic verses, the research gathers data through in-depth interviews with community leaders, fishermen, religious figures, and textual analysis. The findings indicate that environmental conservation can be more effectively pursued through an integrated approach that merges Qur’anic principles, ecological awareness, and anthropological insights. Qur’anic ecological concepts—such as khilāfah (stewardship), tawāzun (balance), and fasād (corruption or degradation)—foster a heightened awareness of human responsibility toward environmental stewardship. Simultaneously, from an anthropological perspective, human-environment relationships are expressed through symbolic acts of reverence, such as sea and earth offerings. Thus, the integration of Qur’anic and anthropological values offers a comprehensive and culturally resonant framework for ecological preservation, contributing to sustainable community development.

Abstract

The pilgrimage in Indonesia has considerable economic potential. Its value always grows from year to year. Based on data from the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Organization, Indonesia received a quota of 221,000 hajj pilgrims in 2020. The quota is stated in the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the Indonesian Minister of Religion and the Saudi Arabian Minister of Hajj and Umrah. With the MoU, it is hoped that Hajj funds can be controlled optimally so that these Hajj funds can be used to provide benefits for the welfare of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims during the pandemic. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach by referring to literature studies and previous research. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that with the establishment of the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), the financial management of the Hajj can be utilized to improve the facilities for organizing the Hajj and creating the welfare of the ummah through instruments from Islamic Financial Institutions, namely, Sukuk, State Sharia Securities (SBSN) and Time Deposits Sharia.

Abstract

This study explores the role of hadith-based religious moderation in enhancing the social resilience of Indonesian students studying in Syria during the downfall of the Bashar al-Assad regime. The main objective is to identify strategies for implementing the values of religious moderation that are relevant to preventing radicalism and fostering social resilience. The research employs Yūsuf al-Qaraḍāwī’s theory of religious moderation within a sociological case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. The research questions include:(1) How is the contextual interpretation of ḥadīths on moderation understood among Indonesian students in Syria? (2) How are the prophetic principles of moderation applied to build social resilience in the post-Assad context? (3) What are the outcomes of internalizing hadith-based moderation among these students? The findings reveal that, based on al-Qaraḍāwī’s pillars of moderation, students demonstrate balance (tawāzun) by maintaining religious commitment while avoiding conflict and focusing on academic and religious studies. In terms of tolerance (tasāmuḥ), students show greater openness toward differences. Meanwhile, regarding comprehensiveness (syumūliyah),they actively engage in social interactions and embrace diverse groups without aligning with political factions. Social resilience efforts are manifested through hadith-based study circles emphasizing peace and harmony among Muslims.

Abstract

This study examines the application of bilateral inheritance law in Indonesia in relation to Islamic inheritance principles and assesses justice in property distribution. Bilateral inheritance grants equal rights to all heirs regardless of gender, while Islamic law provides specific rules for fair distribution. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews with Islamic law experts, legal practitioners, and local community members, as well as analysis of relevant cases. The findings reveal that the application of bilateral inheritance often conflicts with Islamic justice principles, such as excluding deceased parents’ rights or favoring children from second marriages over the first. These inconsistencies reflect tension between local customs seeking equality and Islamic law requiring proportional fairness. The study recommends harmonizing customary and Islamic inheritance laws to improve justice in property distribution. This research contributes new insights into the challenges of integrating customary practices with Islamic legal principles in Indonesia’s inheritance system. The findings can support policymakers, legal practitioners, and communities in developing fairer inheritance practices that respect both traditions and Islamic jurisprudence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form of living hadith in the tradition of eating bajamba in Minangkabau in order to strengthen its philosophy, namely the custom of basandi shara', shara' basandi kitabullah. This research is a qualitative research of library studies. Collecting the data were through a theoretical study of primary and secondary sources in the form of books, trusted news, and publication journal articles. To analyze the data, researchers perform classification, analysis, comparison and synthesize the data. The results of the study show that: the living hadith in the bajamba tradition is seen in the implementation of the hadith about the recommendation to eat together, starting the meal when permitted by the host, placing food on the floor instead of at the table, eating with the right hand and eating food that is in front of it alone, eating from the side of the plate, not from the middle, not allowing food fillings to drop, and the implementation of the hadith about washing hands to clean up the remnants of food after eating.

Abstract

The dialogue of Prophet Ibrahim to his father in QS Maryam: 42-45 not only contains the message of da'wah tawhid, but also reflects a very subtle and contextual communication strategy. This phenomenon is interesting to study academically because it shows that the Qur'an forms a rich pattern of social communication. This study aims to examine the form of language variation and speech acts in the dialog with a sociolinguistic approach. This qualitative research uses the method of literature study and thematic analysis of relevant verses, supported by the theory of language variation (idiolect, dialect, chronolect, sociolect) and the theory of speech acts of Austin and Searle. The results show that Prophet Ibrahim's language style reflects the depth of wisdom and subtlety of character in preaching to the closest people. The speech acts used are persuasive and contemplative, which linguistically indicates an attempt to encourage critical thinking and self-awareness in the interlocutor. In addition, significant differences were found between classical Arabic used in the Qur'ān and modern Arabic, especially in aspects of morphology and sentence structure, reflecting chronolectal variation. This study recommends expanding the linguistic approach in Qur'anic studies to understand the dynamics of da'wah communication more contextually and deeply. The significant contribution of this study lies in its ability to bridge the linguistic approach with exegetical analysis, providing a holistic understanding of da'wah communication strategies in a rich Qur'anic context.
