Abstract

This research designed a prototype of a pH measuring insertion robot based on a microcontroller with a wireless control system. The robot can automatically move to predefined locations using GPS and azimuth calculations from a digital compass sensor. The pH sensor is inserted into the ground using a servo motor at a specific depth. Tests were conducted at several locations to evaluate navigation accuracy and insertion success. The results showed that the robot could reach target coordinates with a deviation of less than 13.5 cm, but the pH sensor insertion failed 100%. The navigation system worked well with stable motor RPM, and the wireless control functioned properly. In conclusion, the robot succeeded in navigation but failed in the automatic sensor insertion process.

Abstract

Strengthening science and environmental education through local wisdom is a strategic approach to creating contextual, relevant, and sustainable learning, particularly within indigenous communities. This study aims to explore how the Bunggu Indigenous Community in Pasangkayu, Indonesia, integrates local wisdom values into the management of science and environmental education. Utilizing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving traditional leaders, educators, and educational stakeholders. The findings reveal that scientific concepts such as ecology, environmental conservation, natural resource management, and traditional technology are taught through culturally inherited practices. The community's education management combines local wisdom with formal curricula, resulting in adaptive and contextual strategies for science and environmental learning. These findings emphasize that integrating local wisdom into science and environmental education not only enriches the learning process but also strengthens ecological awareness, cultural identity, and community participation in environmental preservation. This study contributes to the development of an education management model that is more responsive to local cultural contexts and highlights the need for educational policies that support local wisdom-based learning.

Abstract

This article addresses the prevailing stigma that views women as inherently possessing deficient intellect and religion, a perception often legitimized by literal interpretations of religious texts, specifically Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 304. This misinterpretation perpetuates gender bias and undermines women's capacity in the public sphere. Consequently, this research aims to reinterpret the concept of women's deficiency to uncover a more just and humanistic meaning that aligns with the core Islamic values of equality. This study employs a qualitative library research method, utilizing a normative theological approach synergized with the hermeneutics of Fikih Mubadalah (Reciprocal Jurisprudence) to analyze primary and secondary literature regarding the Hadith. The analysis reveals that the term deficiency is not a theological verdict on women's nature but a contextual description; lack of reason refers to historical legal witness contexts, while lack of religion denotes the biological exemption from rituals during menstruation. Furthermore, scientific evidence suggests that emotional differences do not equate to intellectual inferiority. By integrating these perspectives, the study concludes that the Hadith serves as a universal motivation for charity rather than a tool for subordination. Ultimately, applying Fikih Mubadalah restores the equal status of men and women as complementary partners in building a civilized society based on mutual respect and piety.

Abstract

Environmental-based tourism development has become an important strategy for promoting local economic growth while ensuring the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. One form of environmentally based tourism with considerable potential is mangrove forest tourism. This study aims to analyze the governance of mangrove forest tourism in Ogomolos Village, Mepanga District, Parigi Moutong Regency. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach to provide an in-depth understanding of mangrove tourism governance. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis is based on the Destination Management Organization (DMO) framework proposed by Sheehan & Ritchie (2005), which includes the aspects of coordination of tourism stakeholders, destination crisis management, and destination marketing. The results indicate that the management of mangrove forest tourism in Ogomolos Village involves collaboration between the village government and the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). The village government plays a role in policy formulation and budget support, while Pokdarwis is responsible for the operational management of the tourism area, maintaining environmental sustainability, and supporting tourism activities. However, the governance of the tourism destination has not yet been optimal. This is due to weak coordination among stakeholders that has not been formally institutionalized, the absence of an adequate destination crisis management system, and limited destination marketing strategies that have not yet fully utilized digital media.

Abstract

Effective disaster response in Palu City continues to face challenges in multi-stakeholder coordination, which affects community satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the impact of the pentahelix model of disaster management on community satisfaction and to examine the moderating role of the Palu Mayor’s leadership style. The study employs a quantitative method with a population of 5,514 stakeholders and affected residents, and a sample of 210 respondents selected via proportional stratified random sampling. Primary data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results of the hypothesis testing confirm that the pentahelix model has a positive and significant effect on community satisfaction (β = 0.430; p < 0.001), as does situational leadership style (β = 0.420; p < 0.001). A crucial finding indicates that leadership style significantly strengthens the relationship between the pentahelix model and community satisfaction (β = 0.275; p < 0.001), with the structural model exhibiting strong explanatory power (R² = 0.622) and adequate predictive relevance (Q² = 0.378). It is concluded that pentahelix synergy achieves optimal effectiveness only when catalyzed by adaptive, transparent, and goal-oriented leadership. These findings have practical implications for the Palu City Government, which should institutionalize multi-stakeholder collaboration forums, strengthened by situational leadership capacity, to enhance public legitimacy and the resilience of disaster governance.

Abstract

This study examines the educational themes and teacher roles presented in Sydney Chaffee’s speech, How Teachers Can Help Kids Find Their Political Voices. The research identifies two major categories—educational themes and teacher roles—each encompassing several sub-themes that reflect Chaffee’s philosophy of civic education. Key educational themes include education as a tool for social justice, relevance to real-world issues, development of civic engagement skills, critical historical awareness, and promotion of student voice and activism. Teacher roles highlighted in the speech include facilitating difficult conversations, supporting student activism, acting as risk-takers and change agents, encouraging critical thinking, and building trust-based learning environments. Findings suggest that Chaffee views teaching as inherently political and transformative, positioning the classroom as a space for fostering democratic values, critical awareness, and active citizenship. This perspective challenges traditional content-focused instruction by integrating social justice and civic empowerment into daily teaching practice. The study concludes that such an approach can strengthen students’ political agency, provided teachers receive adequate support, training, and autonomy to address sensitive civic topics.

Abstract

This research developed a water quality monitoring system using fuzzy logic and an ESP8266 microcontroller with temperature, humidity, pH, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) sensors. The system processes data in real time by converting sensor values into linguistic categories, then produces water quality that meets WHO standards. The system is also connected to an IoT platform to facilitate remote monitoring. Simulation results show that the system is able to recognize overlapping water conditions, for example, at pH 7.5 which falls into the "Good" and "Medium" categories simultaneously with different weights. With sensor conditions of 28°C temperature, 65% humidity, pH 7.5, and TDS 400 mg/L, the system produces a quality score of 12.6, indicating excellent water quality. Field testing and comparison with laboratory results show an accuracy level of up to 92%. Fuzzy logic has proven to be more reliable than simple threshold methods, especially when conditions change rapidly or sensors experience shifts. However, the system's results are highly dependent on sensor calibration and regulations need to be adjusted to standards in each region. The computational limitations of the ESP8266 also mean that fuzzy processing must be done on a computer or in the cloud.
