Abstract

Pre-service physics teachers engagement and content material influence the strategies for implementing creative learning. Behavioural, emotional, cognitive, and reciprocal aspects are less visible during classroom learning. Content material can present several interesting topics that are more engaging if pre-service physics teachers s are directly involved through demonstrations, experiments, and learning in their surroundings. The approach aims to build interest and active engagement to complete project activities. The study seeks to determine whether project-based learning with active pre-service physics teachers engagement, content delivery, and numeracy literacy understanding can be enhanced through creative projects. The research uses a quasi-experimental design with control and experimental groups using pretest and post-test. A total of 39 pre-service physics teachers s were enrolled in this study, divided into two groups: the experimental group consisted of 21 pre-service physics teachers s who received instruction using the STEM-based creativity project method, and the control group consisted of 18 pre-service physics teachers s who received instruction using the inquiry and assignment method. Both classes were analysed based on pre-service physics teachers engagement, content material presentation, and numeracy literacy understanding. The study measured pre-service physics teachers performance before and after the intervention using tests. Pretest findings showed a p-value greater than 0.05 between the control and experimental groups, indicating no statistically significant difference between the two groups. A post-test showed a p-value of <0.001 between the groups, indicating that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group. The findings of this study suggest that pre-service physics teachers engagement, content material packaging, and numeracy literacy understanding influence creative projects. This study supports the development of STEM-based creativity project learning and active pre-service physics teachers participation.

Abstract

Due to their properties, ZnO nanoparticles have recently been used as an additive material in active food packaging. ZnO has a wide band gap of about 3.37 eV, making it effectively used under UV light. However, ZnO nanoparticles are not effectively used under visible light. This study successfully synthesized ZnO-Chitosan-Citronella Essential Oil hybrid nanoparticles using sol-gel methods. Adding chitosan and citronella essential oil will affect nanoparticles' structural and optical properties.  The structural, morphological, and optical properties of characterized hybrid nanoparticles were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR, scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and UV-Vis spectroscopy. From XRD, it was obtained that the ZnO nanoparticles produced have a hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure with angles of 2q = 31.76°, 34.48°, 36.30° which are crystal planes with orientations (100), (002), and (101), as well as several other peaks for planes (102), (110), (103), (200) and (112) with a crystallinity index value of 86.5390%, and crystallite size of 8.87nm and 7.5335 nm. From FTIR Characterization, Zn=O functional groups were also obtained at wave numbers 657 and 475 cm-1. The morphology of ZnO nanoparticles from SEM spectroscopy shows a spherical shape with agglomeration, and the composition of the components Zn, O, and N elements is found, which come from chitosan materials. Furthermore, from the UV-Vis spectroscopy characterization, it was obtained that the absorption occurred in the 380-600 nm region with a band gap energy of 3.25 eV (using the tauc plot method), which was slightly different from the empirical results of 3.30 eV. The results show potential future studies of hybrid nanoparticles, such as additive materials in active food packaging.

Abstract

The number of studies and researchers in the science education field is constantly increasing from year to year. It makes research about article review very important because it helps researchers determine the research orientation. In this study, a research review was conducted on reading activities in science learning. There have been several studies on tracking research trends in science education in recent years, but there has not been any detailed discussion about reading activities in science learning. Therefore, it is necessary to know the development trends of research on reading activities in science learning. In this study, we analyze 74 articles published from 2000-2019 using the open-coding system. By using a search engine, it is done by entering one keyword or a combination of several keywords, include reading, a variety of ”reading and text," ”reading and science text," ”reading and textbook," ”reading, text, and science." The results showed that there were still many empty things that the researchers had not studied. The United States dominates the average researcher with a primary focus on reading comprehension. In terms of participants, research is dominated by involving students in schools (although the numbers are still small), with the variables studied are dominated by reading comprehension. This research can help researchers find gaps in research that have not been carried out related to reading activities in science learning.

Abstract

Language environment constitutes a fundamental pillar in second language acquisition, including learning Arabic within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). The variation of input, the intensity of interaction, and the consistency of practice collectively form the primary scaffolds for developing students’ communicative competence. In the pesantren context, these elements are both pedagogical tools and part of a broader cultural and spiritual ecosystem that shapes language use in structured and spontaneous ways. When effectively designed and managed, this dual ecosystem has the potential to accelerate the process of Arabic acquisition significantly. This article examines the dynamics of the Arabic language environment in pesantren and its relationship with the core dimensions of input, interaction, and output. A qualitative case study design was employed, with participants selected purposively to capture diverse language learning experiences. Data collection involved observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, which were systematically analysed using Krippendorff’s content analysis framework, covering data reduction, thematic classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings point to two interrelated categories of the Arabic language environment. The first is the formal environment, encompassing structured classroom learning such as maharat al-qirā’ah, al-kitābah, al-istimā‘, and al-kalām. This environment facilitates the acquisition of linguistic accuracy by aligning input and teacher–student interaction with grammatical and syntactical norms. The second is the informal environment, which emerges in daily activities such as muḥādathah, ilqā’ al-mufradāt, maḥkamat al-lughah, and muḥāḍarah. Unlike the formal setting, the informal environment privileges fluency and spontaneity, enabling learners to transform theoretical knowledge into practical communicative competence. These findings underscore that the synergy between formal and informal environments is both complementary and transformative: it enriches input, strengthens interaction, and ensures that output is accurate and communicatively meaningful. The implication is clear: success in Arabic language learning within pesantren is primarily determined by how comprehensively the language environment is designed to integrate theoretical instruction with authentic communicative practice.

Abstract

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in male worldwide. Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) offers cancer treatment with minimum side effects. BNCT is radiation therapy that uses the 10B isotope and neutron beams which can selectively destroy tumor cells. The resulting radiation dose cannot be measured directly, so a computational method is needed to calculate the dose. The aim of this research is to determine the effective boron concentration, determine the optimal direction of irradiation, and determine the duration of irradiation time at an effective boron concentration for BNCT of prostate cancer. The computational method used is the Monte Carlo method with PHITS Version 3.32 software. The phantom used is an adult male ORNL phantom. The type of prostate cancer modeled is adenocarcinoma with an intermediate risk group. The neutron source is a 30 MeV cyclotron. Variations in 10B concentrations used were 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, and 150 µg/g boron/cancer tissue. The variations in direction used are: anterior-posterior, lateral-anterior oblique, and left-lateral. This study yield that the effective boron concentration used for BNCT in prostate cancer is 150 µg/g boron/cancer tissue. The most optimal radiation direction for BNCT of prostate cancer is the anterior-posterior direction. The duration of irradiation time required for a boron concentration of 150 µg/g boron/cancer tissue is 1 hour 16 minutes 10 seconds.
