Abstract

The battery monitoring process for the DC backup power supply at the Banda Aceh Main Substation was previously performed manually using a multimeter, leading to inefficiencies. This study aimed to develop an automated battery monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance operational efficiency. The proposed system integrated a DC voltage sensor (voltage divider) connected to the battery and an INA219 sensor to measure current flow during battery usage. A NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller, programmed with the Arduino IDE, served as the main data processor and internet interface. Monitoring data was transmitted to officers via an IoT-based cloud server on the Blynk platform. The system was tested using eight NiCd 1.2 V battery cells arranged to simulate the substation setup. The resulting prototype automated daily battery monitoring, significantly improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the monitoring process.

Abstract

Experimental animals such as rats are often used for medical research and therapy, such as cardiologists who use a special treadmill to measure the heart health of rats by training walking or running in order to determine the appropriate dose for individuals before being applied to their patients. This research designed a system that is operated by the speed of a DC motor. To control the system, it is proposed to implement a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control that is able to stabilize the rotation of the DC motor based on the BPM value recorded by the encoder sensor. The value is used as feedback to the PID control, so that it can control the speed of the DC motor and work optimally and stably under load or no load. Adding a limit switch as a fatigue zone to determine the final duration. This system was tested on several objects, namely 4-month-old rats with a mass of 211 grams, 224 grams, 230 grams, and 240 grams and 2-month-old rats with a mass of 24 grams, 27 grams, 28 grams, and 30 grams. The results show that the speed reading using PID control is in accordance with the constants Kp = 17, Ki = 7, and Kd = 1. This test has a percentage overshoot (%) of 5% and an average rise time value of 0.14 seconds. System performance with a percentage accuracy of 90% starting from a setpoint of 35 m/min.

Abstract

An electrocardiogram (ECG) can detect heart abnormalities through signals from the rhythm of the human heartbeat. One of them is arrhythmia disease, which is caused by an improper heartbeat and causes failure of blood pumping. In reading ECG signals, a common problem encountered is the uncertainty of the prediction results. An accurate and efficient heart defect classification system is needed to help patients and healthcare providers carry out appropriate therapy or treatment. Several studies have developed algorithms that are more effective in Machine Learning (ML) in automatically providing initial screening of patients' heart conditions. This study proposed the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) method as a classifier of heart conditions experienced by humans and Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) as a feature extractor to eliminate noise during data collection. CWT and LSTM methods are believed to perform well in feature extraction and classification of ECG signals. The dataset used in this study was taken from the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database. The results of this study successfully extracted ECG signals using CWT, thus improving the understanding of ECG characteristics. This research also succeeded in classifying ECG signals using the LSTM method, which obtained an accuracy training value of 98.4% and an accuracy testing value of 94.42 %.

Abstract

Stress is prone to occur in children with autism. According to the study, around 85% of children who have autism suffer from anxiety disorders that can exacerbate their condition, leading to self-harm and harm to those in their vicinity. Heart rate, skin conductance, and finger temperature changes occur during stress. In this paper, we design a system to monitor heart rate, body temperature, and skin conductance to detect signs of stress. Subsequently, the measurement data is processed using the fuzzy logic (FL) method as a decision-maker algorithm. In particular, we use 64 fuzzy rules with membership functions for each parameter. Parameter measurement results will be displayed using a widget called Gauge, while stress conditions will be displayed using a label widget. The results will be displayed on the Blynk application with an IoT system and viewed remotely via Android devices. The test was conducted on five children aged 5-9 years with varying body conditions. From the test results, the mean accuracy of the heart rate sensor was 95.01%, the mean temperature sensor accuracy was 97.7%, and the mean conductance sensor accuracy was 93.75%. The stress levels range from a minimum of 25% to a maximum of 75%. These findings indicate that the developed tool has performed effectively, and it is feasible to monitor its operation remotely.

Abstract

Stunting is the impaired growth and development that children experience from poor nutrition, repeated infection, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation. This study explores the impact of data preprocessing, specifically using DeepLabV3+ segmentation, on the performance of ResNet-50 in classifying stunting and non-stunting facial images. Initially, ResNet-50 achieved 99% accuracy and a 3.22% loss with the unsegmented dataset. By applying DeepLabV3+ to remove irrelevant features and backgrounds, the model's performance improved to a perfect 100% accuracy and a reduced loss of 0.45%. These results underscore the importance of high-quality data preprocessing in enhancing model precision and reliability. The findings have significant implications for practical applications, particularly in medical imaging, where improved diagnostic accuracy can benefit patient outcomes. Further research is recommended to explore additional preprocessing methods and their effects on model performance across diverse domains. This study highlights the transformative potential of effective data preprocessing in optimizing deep learning models for more accurate and reliable machine learning solutions.

Abstract

Stunting, a condition characterised by short stature, is a growth disorder caused by chronic malnutrition, which often begins in the womb. Children affected by stunting usually show different physical and cognitive characteristics compared to their peers. Research shows that these physical differences can also be observed in facial features. Because faces provide important information and are commonly studied in digital image processing, in this study, we will compare the facial image classification performance of stunted children versus normal children using various Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures. The evaluated architectures include MobileNetV2, InceptionV3, VGG19, ResNet18, EfficientNetB0, and AlexNet. To improve the learning process, augmentation techniques with Haar cascade and Gaussian filters were applied so that the data set increased from 1,000 to 6,000 images. After adding the dataset, training is carried out with an early stop approach to minimise overfitting. The main aim of this research is to identify the CNN model that is most effective in differentiating facial images of stunted children from normal children. The results show that the EfficientNetB0 architecture outperforms other models, achieving 100% accuracy. Early stopping has been shown to improve training efficiency and help prevent overfitting.
